Idris Elba is being considered for a villain role in the upcoming ‘Star Trek 3’ movie.
Bryan Cranston was previously considered for a villain role but, according to Variety, Idris Elba is currently in talks to star in the next ‘Star Trek’ movie.
Details of Elba’s role are being kept under wraps. Early rumors suggest that Klingons would be the main villains in this movie, as they have not had a full presence in previous installments, but sources would not confirm if that was the case. Paramount and Skydance had no comment.
Paramount has announced that the next film in the franchise, is planned to be released in July 2016, in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Due to Abrams’ commitment directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he will be a producer but not direct. ‘Star Trek 3’ will be directed by Justin Lin and will feature Chris Pine, Zoe Saladana and Zachary Quinto.
