Disney World Bans Selfies? Disney makes selfie sticks agains the rulesĀ on Disney rides.
Did Disney just ban selfies? Well, kind of. A month after music festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza banned selfie sticks, Disney World has followed in their footsteps.
The theme part has posted a “No Selfie Sticks” sign at Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a Disney spokesperson has revealed that guests are welcome to bring a selfie sticks with them to the park, but they must remain stored during the ride.
Apparently, people thought it would be cool to shoot a selfie while traveling 30+ miles an hour down a water ride.
From The Hollywood Reporter:
The policy was enforced after the ride had to be stopped on multiple occasions due to guests hazardously pulling out the 3-foot long stick while the ride was operating.
Signs prohibiting selfie stick use have also recently cropped up at Disneyland in California at popular attractions such as Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain.
But think about the children! How can little Susie tell her Instagram followers that she was riding on the Teacups without her selfie stick? I guess it’s better than losing a finger on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
