Nicki Minaj’s brother was charged with raping a child.
Nicki Minaj’s 37-year-old brother is being charged with raping a 12-year-old, according to new reports.
Jelani Maraj appeared in a Long Island court and was released from Nassau County jail after posting $100,000 in bail.
Newsday reports:
Jelani Maraj, 37, of Baldwin, was arraigned Thursday on first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, according to online court and jail records. The child is 12, according to the source.
Page Six points out Nicki Minaj‘s relationship with her brother in a recent wedding earlier this year, writing:
The Nassau County district attorney did not reveal any information about the case.
Maraj was married to Jacqueline Robinson at the Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin, NY, this past August.
His pop-star sister paid about $30,000 for the wedding hall, which hosted 200 guests.
The rapper recently told Now magazine about her childhood, saying:
“A lot of arguing, lots of screaming – there were holes punched into the walls in anger and cops being called to the house all the time. I was afraid, very afraid that something would happen to my mother… My mother left him many different time and came back. One time he pulled my mother out of a car and dragged her two blocks.”
Nicki’s mom Carol also told The Sun:
“My husband used to get high on cocaine and alcohol and would come home and terrorize the whole family.”
