Netflix is rumored to be negotiating with Benedict Cumberbatch for a limited series entitled Eric.
Variety first broke the news. This six-episode series, set in 1980s New York, was initially announced last November 2021. Benedict Cumberbatch is expected to portray Vincent Sullivan – America’s most renowned puppet maker and puppeteer – in its lead role. The plot takes an unexpected turn when his addiction leads him into a life of homelessness, with only his seven-foot blue puppet Eric for the company on their quest to find Vincent’s missing son.
Abi Morgan, who has earned Emmy award recognition for her work in The Hour and The Iron Lady, is the executive producer of this series. Benedict Cumberbatch – known for his leading roles across various limited series and previously nominated for an Emmy due to his role in Patrick Melrose – will star once again. There’s no set date for the show’s release yet; stay tuned!
