Jake Gyllenhaal’s new movie “Southpaw” is holding an open casting in Pennsylvania.
“Southpaw” is the latest movie to film in Pittsburgh and Indiana, Pennsylvania. Casting directors are looking for a ton of extras to work on the feature film. Producers are coming into town before filming starts to recruit actors that they will be needing in the movie. Casting directors will be having an open casting call for people interested in an extra role in “Southpaw” this weekend in Pittsburgh.
Filming for “Southpaw” will begin in June in the Indiana, Pennsylvania area and then move to Pittsburgh in July.
“Southpaw” will also feature a large boxing scene and producers estimate that they will need thousands of extras to play audience members in the movie.
“Southpaw” will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, the director of Denzel Washington’s “Training day” and “Olympus Has Fallen”.
Originally, Eminem was set to star in “Southpaw“, but he was later replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Forest Whitaker is also starring in the feature. “Southpaw” centers on a boxer who fights his way to the top, only to find his life falling apart around him.
Anyone interested in being cast as a movie extra for the project can come to the Indiana Mall this weekend to meet with the film’s casting directors and production staff.

Time: 10am to 3pm
An open casting call will be held at the Indiana Mall on Saturday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are looking for men and women, ages 18 and older, of all backgrounds – Adults only please. It may be a good idea to bring a photo with you, just in case they need it. Also, you want to be sure to have your ID with you in case they are filling out paperwork at the venue.
UPDATE (Thursday, May 29 2014): Casting directors have added an additional open casting call for the feature film, according to reports.
Just a few days after the first casting call for Southpaw was announced in Indiana, PA, a second has been scheduled to take place in Monroeville, PA.
The Monroeville casting call will be held on Saturday, May 31 at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Plaza Blvd from 10:0 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
They are looking for “Men & Women age 18+, all types & ethnicities.”
