‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Open Casting Call for Video Game Voice Actors

Date:

Game studio BioWare is launching an open casting call for aspiring voice actors to audition for one of two roles in the studio’s upcoming sci-fi role-playing game Mass Effect: Andromeda.

The audition is looking for people with a normal speaking voice. In addition, all genders are welcome.

“No accents, makeup, costumes, or props are necessary: just a recording of you speaking in your natural voice,” BioWare explains on the contest page.

“If you want to be a little more dramatic, feel free — just remember that your entry will be judged on the quality of your voice performance and how well it matches the Mass Effect style.”

This is not the first time BioWare has launched an open casting call. In 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, its contest winners went on to voice two small but memorable roles in the game. The studio even produced a little minidocumentary of the winners voicing their characters.

The winners will have their lines recorded at a professional recording studio with travel and lodging covered by BioWare.

The “Explorers Wanted” contest runs from today to September 28th and residents of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are all eligible to apply, with the usual stipulations regarding no family members of BioWare employees and all that. Applicants will be reading dialogue (what folks in the biz call “sides”) from one of two samples, one assuming the role of a plucky documentarian and the other a tough mercenary. Neither of the roles are gender-specific.

For further rules including the full sample scripts and info on where to submit your voice sample, head on over to the official contest page or view the contest announcement video up above!

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out March 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
