The CW Television network is currently casting for a variety of new and upcoming television series.
The CW Television Network or commonly referred to as The CW is an American TV network that launched in September, 2006 as a joint venture between CBS, the former owners of UPN, and the former majority owner of The WB Television network. CW derives its name from the majority stake holders of the joint venture, CBS and Warner Bros.
The CW marked its formal launch date on September 20, 2006, with a two-hour season premiere of America’s Next Top Model. The network’s programming lineup is intended to appeal to people ranging in age from 18 to 34-years-old.
The CW looks like they are going to continue to expand their audience as well. Recently, the CW Television Network, a joint venture of CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment, announced today a five-year licensing agreement with Hulu for the rights to stream in-season episodes of The CW’s programming on the Hulu Plus subscription service and the free, ad-supported Hulu service. Which illustrates their popular demand and their desire to increase the mobile television watching audience.
“The CW programming is a great example of the kind of in-season content we want to make available on our service – high-quality, engaging, serialized shows that fans passionately love,” said Andy Forssell, SVP of Content for Hulu. “Making these shows available on Hulu and Hulu Plus will allow new and existing fans to get their fix of The CW’s great shows anytime and anywhere.”
Further CW looks to enhance the amount of programming they provide as well. The CW announced on their blog that, the CW Network has given early pickups to three of its hit series for next season, including freshman hit ARROW, its top-rated drama THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. All three shows will return in Fall 2013.
“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit ARROW and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL on Wednesday night, and the continued success of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” said Pedowitz. “Not only do ARROW, SUPERNATURAL, and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”
