An upcoming short film is now casting speaking roles in Calgary, Canada.
Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on September 12th through the 20th in Calgary, Canada.
Producers are seeking the following types:
- (Young Shadi) MIDDLE EASTERN. 7 – 12. Male. Supporting Role.
- Shadi was made a refugee at a young age. After his mother’s death, his father, Ahmed, brought him to a new country. He is lonely, confused, and scared in a completely alien country. He clings to his father, who is his only support and tie to his home, but Ahmed needs to spend most of his time working and isn’t always there when Shadi needs him. Ahmed and Shadi love each other deeply, but how will Shadi’s experience with Ahmed influence his identify as he grows up in a new country?
- (Ahmed) ARAB. Early 40s to Early 50s. Male. Principal Role.
- Loving. Proud. Fatigued. After losing his wife, he left his country as a refugee for the good of his son, Shadi. The guilt of leaving his family compels him to work tirelessly to send them money. He tries to hide his loneliness and never gets too close to anyone in his new country, afraid it would detach him completely from his origins. Above all, he loves his son and only wants him to be happy.
- (Shadi) ARAB. Mid 20s. Male. Principal Role.
- As a refugee at a young age, he has found a new home in his adopted country. A lack of contact with his heritage has left it as faded memories and nostalgic stories. His father, Ahmed, has been his constant companion. However, Shadi feels guilty that his increasing connection to his new home will alienate him from Ahmed, who is still very connected to their old country. After falling in love, Shadi must relegate his identity between the two cultures.
