According to Deadline, McQueen is creating a new BBC series about the black experience in Britain.
The series will center on a group of friends and their families living in West London from the 1960s to present day. The announcement comes after a Steve McQueen plans on creating a new series for HBO about a young African American man entering New York City’s high society.
McQueen said, “I don’t think there has been a serious drama series in Britain with black people from all walks of life as the main protagonists.” The director plans to gather a group of actors for a series of workshops to help develop the program, which he says will be “epic in scope.”
He will be producing two different shows in two different continents. But, this McQueen is not afraid of hard work. After the success of 12 years a slave he has been working hard to spread the word about the African American experience, something he and Brad Pitt admitted was something that is quickly overlooked in the world.
