There was going to be a ‘Jurassic Park’ TV series until Steven Spielberg said no.
Steven Spielberg is a Hollywood icon who has created both animated and live-action TV series.
Jurassic Park: The Animated Series, was a possible cartoon series that could have grown a large following. According to reports, artist William Stout was contacted to design a Jurassic Park animated series. This was not supposed to be a kids show but a mature prime time series with top writers and state of the art animation with CGI graphics. Things were in full swing until Spielberg said NO.
We made a trailer to communicate the look and feel of the series, also showing how we would combine computer animation with traditional animation.
All we needed was Spielberg’s approval.
I heard through the grapevine that he never bothered to watch what we had done. By that time the word was out that he was burnt out on Jurassic Park merchandising and all of the film’s commercial exploitation. So, it never got made. Too bad. (Via)
Here’s what the show would have looked like.
