What Actors Should Do When They Meet with Casting Directors
Due to advances in technology, casting directors can now see hundreds of actors for a single role, all thanks to video auditions. Therefore, it is important that actors both fill the role and yet still stand out.
What does it mean for an actor to fill the role?
Filling the role means to meet the casting description, follow all of the directions listed in the audition, and more. Here are a few examples.
- 1. Showing up for an audition on time.
- 2. Being prepared
- 3. Knowing your lines
- 4. Sending thank-you notes to every casting director you meet.
- 5. Acting to the best of your ability during your audition and being able to take direction.
- 6. Showcase your social media presence by adding links to your social media pages on your resume with a total number of followers.
By treating each audition professionally, you can separate yourself from the competition. After you know how to behave and follow directions, you only need to focus on your acting skills to separate you from the rest of the actors who also know how to follow directions.
A casting director may love the way you like and the way you act but, still has to choose someone else for a role. But, being prepared and showing everything that you can can drastically improve your acting performance.
