Chris Hemsworth reveals how he lost all that weight for the movie ‘Heart of the Sea’.
The man behind Thor reportedly had to starve himself and eat only 500 calories a day for a few weeks.
Despite being known for his muscular physique in the Marvel series Thor, the Avengers actor had to lose a ton of weight in order to star in the Ron Howard movie, In the Heart of the Sea.
The actor showed off his sickly looking body on Instagram on Sunday, saying in the caption, “Just tried a new diet/training program called Lost At Sea. Wouldn’t recommend it … ”
In the photo, Hemsworth rocks a ragged looking beard, cuts on his body, and a really bad sun tan.
In the Heart of the Sea centers around the sinking of a whaling ship, which is based on a true story that inspired Herman Melville to write Moby Dick.
Hemsworth told ET that he had to only eat 500 to 700 calories a day for a few weeks to do the shipwrecked scenes.
“We have to shoot the really skinny stuff where we drop down to 500, 600, 700 calories a day, a good three or four weeks and it’s going to be pretty uncomfortable, but we’ll be together in our misery,” Hemsworth said. “I spend more time thinking about food than anything else at the moment.”
This is the second time Hemsworth worked with Ron Howard. They previously worked together in the critically acclaimed production, Rush.
