NBC TV Pilot Casting Call for Principal Speaking Role – Elder Woman

Elder Woman Day Player for New Comedy Pilot

NBC Greenlights New Comedy Pilot from Sierra Teller Ornelas Set in Native Community Center

NBC is bringing fresh, authentic Native stories to primetime with a new comedy pilot from powerhouse creators Sierra Teller Ornelas, Jackie Keliiaa, Bobby Wilson, and Morgan Sackett. Following the success of Rutherford Falls, this untitled project will once again focus on Native voices—this time set in a bustling community center in Oakland, California.

The upcoming single-camera comedy follows an ensemble cast of staff members who “hustle to keep the lights on while lifting up those in need.” Set against the vibrant backdrop of Oakland, the show promises to balance humor with heartfelt moments, giving audiences a look into the daily realities and triumphs of a Native-run center. The pilot aims to deliver authentic representation, witty dialogue, and a cast of characters inspired by real-life community heroes.

The Visionary Team Behind the Project
Sierra Teller Ornelas, the showrunner and executive producer, made television history as the first Native American showrunner of a TV comedy with Rutherford Falls. Her credits also include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Superstore, Happy Endings, and Loot. Bobby Wilson, writer and performer, is known for Reservation Dogs, Marvel’s Echo, and as a founding member of the acclaimed Native sketch group the 1491s. Jackie Keliiaa, a stand-up comedian and voice actor on Spirit Rangers, is dedicated to uplifting Native talent through her comedy and writing.

NBC’s order of this pilot highlights the entertainment industry’s growing commitment to Native representation, both on screen and behind the scenes. For aspiring actors, writers, and filmmakers, the greenlight of this comedy pilot signals that the industry is opening doors to more diverse perspectives.
