2022-23 Elective (Physical Education, Band, Theater or Art) Teacher

About This Role: We are looking to hire elective teachers, specifically for Art, Band or Physical Education, in New Orleans for the 2022-23 school years. Elective teachers must provide personal exploration that allows students to develop interest and skills in an enriched setting. An ideal candidate will have strong content knowledge in the elective course they are teaching, holds a rigorous bar for that content, and builds passion for art and design in their students.

Teacher Development at Collegiate Academies: At CA, our teachers never stop learning and never stop growing. Here’s how:

  • Our approach to teacher development at CA is focused on individual goals and growth combined with a high degree of individualized support.
  • Every teacher has a coach, and you will collaboratively, with your coach, create your growth goals and determine the plan that will see you hit those goals.
  • There are some things in common with other teachers at your school – school goals, school priorities, school-based PD, etc. – but it is in your relationship with your coach where you will translate those things into what you specifically need to meet those goals yourself.
  • You will also grow year over year as an expert in your content in collaboration with your peers across the network through content-specific professional development and data investigations.
  • There is an additional layer of support for first year teachers called the CA Teacher Residency (CATR), which is an intensified, pre-service and coaching plan to develop you in the skills that we have seen that make rookie teachers most successful in their first year at CA.

ABOUT THE PROJECT We're shooting a comedy panel game show for YouTube. Nonunion. Los Angeles, CA. Six contestants stand in a line and all claim to have full-time jobs. Only one of them is telling the truth. A panel of judges interrogates the group round by round - payroll, benefits, what you did at work yesterday - eliminating one person per round, trying to find the one who's really employed. If the judges guess right, they win. If the liars survive, the liars win. Fast, funny, argumentative - the judges heckle, the contestants push back. We're casting for personality, not resumes. If you're quick, opinionated, and unbothered by five people grilling you on camera, you're who we want. No acting experience required. SHOOT DATE One day only - Saturday, August 29, 2026. Approximately 4 hours on set in Los Angeles. Exact call time and location given to selected contestants. COMPENSATION Unpaid. Meals and parking provided. Copy of the finished video provided. There is no cash prize and no day rate. ROLE 1 - CONTESTANT (Currently Unemployed) - 5 spots - All genders - Ages 18-55 - All ethnicities Seeking 5 contestants who are CURRENTLY NOT WORKING - between jobs, laid off, job hunting, or freelancing with nothing lined up. Your job in the game is to convince a panel of judges that you have a full-time job there's nothing to memorize in advance. We want people who are funny about their own circumstances, fast on their feet, and comfortable being interrupted, challenged, and roasted on camera. Strong opinions and a willingness to argue are exactly what we're after. NO ACTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - we'd honestly rather you have none. Must be available for the full 4-hour shoot day on Saturday, August 29 in Los Angeles. ROLE 2 - CONTESTANT (Currently Employed) - 1 spot - All genders - Ages 18-55 - All ethnicities Seeking 1 contestant who CURRENTLY HAS A REAL FULL-TIME JOB. Any industry - nursing, teaching, trades, finance, corporate, service, anything with plenty to talk about. Your job in the game is simple: tell the complete truth all day while five other people insist you're lying. There's no acting, no backstory, and nothing to memorize. You just have to hold your nerve while a panel of judges grills you about your work - your payroll, your benefits, what you actually did at work yesterday. We want people who are quick, funny, hard to rattle, and happy to be interrupted and challenged on camera. NO ACTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Must be available for the full 4-hour shoot day on Saturday, August 29 in Los Angeles. HOW TO SUBMIT Submit a current photo and a 60-second video, straight to camera, no editing: 1. Introduce yourself and tell us what you do - employed or not. 2. What's the most annoying part of your work situation right now? 3. Argue with us about something. Anything. Convince us you're right. Phone camera in your kitchen is completely fine - we're casting personality, not production value. Question 3 is the one we care about most, so don't hold back. PLEASE CONFIRM IN YOUR SUBMISSION (Yes / No) 1. Do you currently have a job of any kind - full-time, part-time, or freelance? 2. Are you available in Los Angeles for the full shoot day on Saturday, August 29? 3. This is an unpaid shoot - there is no cash prize or day rate. Meals and parking are provided.
