Netflix is Fighting to Stop Illegal Streaming of ‘Orange is the New Black’

Netflix is fighting to stop people from viewing websites that stream illegal copies of ‘Orange is the New Black‘.

According to CNN Money, a typical search for the term “Orange the New Black Season 3” brings up several illegal versions of the award winning series, “Orange is the New Black”.

In fact, the legitimate link to Netflix (NFLX, Tech30) isn’t even the number one search result. That actually goes to some website called CouchTuner.eu.

That means Google and Yahoo consider an illegal streaming site registered in Sweden more relevant to your search than the real thing.

The results are similar on other top search sites. A pirate site beats Netflix on Yahoo (YHOO, Tech30)search. And while Microsoft (MSFT, Tech30) Bing and DuckDuckGo show Netflix first, the illegal options are right below. [CNN Money]


In fact, Netflix is facing a Search Engine Optimization problem with Google. Search Engine Optimization or SEO, is the term used for ranking of websites on Google Search Results.

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. [Search Engine Land]

Based on Google’s search algorithm, websites are ranked and then listed based upon your search request. Illegal streaming websites uses “black hat” search engine optimization techniques to outsmart Google’s search algorithm therefore, making thousands of dollars serving ads for users interested in watching the latest episode of ‘Orange is the New Black’, for instance.

Currently, ‘Orange is the New Black’ was the fourth most-searched term on Google, according reports. In fact, Netflix announced that pirated content providers is the companies top competitor. If people continue to search for ‘Orange is the New Black’, then Netflix will continue to lose millions.

‘Orange is the New Black’ centers around the story of Piper Chapman, a woman in her thirties who is sentenced to fifteen months in prison after being convicted of a decade-old crime of transporting money for her drug-dealing girlfriend.

‘Orange is the New Black’ features Taylor Schilling, Danielle Brooks, and Taryn Manning. The series has received critical acclaim and earned 12 Primetime Emmy Awardnominations for its first season. In fact, the third season of ‘Orange is the New Black’ received critical acclaim. On Metacritic, it has a score of 83 out of 100 based on 20 reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an 97% rating with an average score of 8.2 out of 10 based on 29 reviews.

John Stamous Arrested for DUI and Later Hospitalized

John Stamos arrested for DUI.

After several calls to the police department around 7:45 p.m., complaining about an erratic driver, the “Full House” star was pulled over.

Due to a possible medical condition, he was transported to a nearby hospital where subsequent investigation confirmed he was under the influence, police say. There, he was placed under arrest for DUI, issued a citation and released to the care of the hospital.

He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charge on Sept. 11, weeks before his new family sitcom “Grandfathered” will premiere on Fox (though no specific date has been set for the fall debut). [Variety]

John Stamos will appear in Netflix’s upcoming “Full House” remake, ‘Fuller House’ in 2016. He is also set to present the 2015 Emmy nominations, alongside “Orange is the New Black’s” Uzo Aduba, in L.A. on July 16.

Kevin Spacey plays a Democrat from South Carolina who creates an elaborate plan to get himself into the highest position of power in the country, with the help of his wife, Mrs. Underwood. Season 3 ended with Underwood seeking re-election and it seems that in Season 4, he had won the election.

Review: Is ‘Jurassic World’ Worth Seeing?

Is ‘Jurassic World‘ worth going to the theaters and paying to see?

‘Jurassic World’ is the sci-fi adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow. It is the fourth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise and was written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Derek Connolly, and Trevorrow. ‘Jurassic World’ stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B. D. Wong, and Irrfan Khan – Wong is the only actor from any of the previous films to appear in Jurassic World.

A fourth film was initially intended to begin production in 2004 for a summer 2005 release, but endured over a decade of “development hell” as release dates were pushed back several times while the script went through revisions.

Steven Spielberg, director of the first two Jurassic Park films, acted as executive producer, as he had for the third film.

‘Jurassic World’ centers around twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.

The reviews have been overwhelming positive for ‘Jurassic World’ since the movie first premiered. Here is what the critics had to say.

Is AMC Going to Cancel ‘Halt and Catch Fire’?

Is this going to be the last season of ‘Halt and Catch Fire?’

According to a recent investment conference, AMC network’s CEO announced that ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ and ‘Turn’ are on the verge of getting canceled.

“We’d like bigger absolute numbers so we have to assess both,” network CEO Josh Sapan says at New York investment conference.

AMC Networks is strongly considering pulling the plug on “Halt and Catch Fire” and “Turn,” according to CEO Josh Sapan. Both series have strong reviews but he’d like to see “better numbers,” he said at an investment conference in New York after someone pointed out that his presentation failed to discuss the two shows among AMC’s winners.

“Halt and Catch Fire,” a period drama about the computer revolution, started its second season May 31 and filmed in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this year. 

“The show is good, better, more energetic. So we have to see how the season goes,” Sapan said at the Gabelli & Co. entertainment conference.

AMC-Turn-auditions

Meanwhile, American Revolutionary War drama ‘Turn’ just wrapped its second season. “We would like it to be higher too … The nice thing about ‘Turn’ is that that the last four episodes of the season were all trending up. That’s not a normal trajectory, and the last episode of the season was up double digits (but) we’d like bigger absolute numbers so we have to assess both.”

The CEO of AMC is probably making room for other TV shows including Seth Rogen’s ‘Preacher’, Hugh Laurie’s ‘The Night Manager’, and AMC’s sci-fi drama ‘The Badlands”.

“Our point of view is that it’s good to be where people are consuming,” Sapan said. “We have five strong channels (AMC, IFC, Sundance, WE and BBC America). We don’t have 10 or 15 or 25 channels, some harder to name and not so strong. We think we are extraordinarily well set up for … a more selective environment.”

Looking for real young couples. Ages 25-35 and at least one of you in the business. It is for a shoot in St. Barth
We are looking for 1 female and 1 male model w/ a look between age 25-35. There will be multiple looks throughout the shoot and models will be in swimwear, resortwear, and possibly sleepwear for the honeymoon feature. We’ll definitely be shooting the female model in wedding gowns for the cover, and may shoot some cover options that include the male in a suit.
We’re going for an old hollywood feel (as if they’ve just finished filming a movie and are on a tropical getaway). For the men, we don’t want them to be very muscular. Tall and lean (but not too skinny) would be ideal. No hair color/ethnicity preference for either, but the men’s hair should be long enough to work w/ to capture the old hollywood slicked back look.

Models must be available the following dates and have a valid passport:

July 8th (travel)
July 9-11th (will be shooting 2-3 days depending on weather)
July 12th (return travel)

CASTING CALL: Bay Area Local Hispanic Men & Women for Regional Car Commercial Audition

Beau Bonneau Casting is seeking attractive, Hispanic men & women in their 20s-40s for a Non Union regional car commercial.

Auditions are by appointment only either Fri 6/12 or Mon 6/15 with callbacks Wed 6/17. Auditions & callbacks take approx 30 min to 1 hour and are held at our office in SF. Shoot will take place Mon 6/22, Tues 6/23, Wed 6/24 or Thurs 6/25 (1 day only) in SF Bay Area.  If selected for the shoot, each person will receive $650 total for up to 8 hr shoot for 2 spots. Commercial will be used for Spanish market TV, internet (worldwide) & industrial (in-store video). Term is 6 months from first use.

Forget the fact that Kim Kardashian’s real life is already on television, the celebrity couple is looking to take it to the big screen. Will KimYe be the first reality movie to hit theaters?

According to NY Post, the celebrity couple is approaching several producers, writers, and studios to help produce this upcoming feature film. But, there is no word if people are actually interested in paying $12 to see their love story on the big screen.

Chance Kelly is the busiest actor you’ve never heard of.

Chance played football for Ithaca College but, after losing a bet and in spite of a profound fear of public speaking, he entered an acting class. He was so terrified that he gave his first monologue to a brick wall.

He played the role of Lt. Col. Stephen “Godfather” Ferrando in HBO’s Generation Kill. On Memorial Day 2009, he was appointed Honorary Marine by the Marine Corps League (Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detachment – 203, Freehold, New Jersey) for his work in Generation Kill. Since then his acting career has been on fire.

From working on ‘American Sniper’ to ‘House of Cards’ to most recently Fox’s ‘Aquarius’, Chance Kelly has essentially cemented his role in Hollywood for playing the stereotypical cop, soldier and security guard. In an interview with the NYPost, the actor revealed how he became the busiest actor in Hollywood and it’s pretty inspiring.

“It sort of made sense to me,” Kelly says of the role. “I understood the humor and I felt like I knew these guys. I’ve played enough cops and good guys and bad guys, and [guys] anywhere in-between, to see where the writers were coming from.

“And they actually told me to grow my hair for a change,” he says, laughing. “I don’t hear that that much. It’s the longest hair I’ve had in a long time.”

‘House of Cards’ Season 4 Hotel Scene Casting Call in Baltimore

‘House of Cards’ Season 4 will start production in the summer of 2015 and will be aired sometime 2016, although no definite premiere date has been set. ‘House of Card’ will bring back Golden Globe 2015 Best Actor winner Kevin Spacey who will reprise his role as Mr. Underwood, U.S. president, and his wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright).

Kevin Spacey plays a Democrat from South Carolina who creates an elaborate plan to get himself into the highest position of power in the country, with the help of his wife, Mrs. Underwood. Season 3 ended with Underwood seeking re-election and it seems that in Season 4, he had won the election.

Casting directors are looking for business types and hotel staff to work on a scene filming on June 11th in Baltimore, Maryland.

‘Pitch Perfect 3’ is coming soon.

According to Variety, Universal and Gold Circle are working on a ‘Pitch Perfect’ sequel with hopes of screenwriter Kay Cannon to return.

Kay Cannon made millions by writing the first two films, which have been major hits for Universal. The 2012 ‘Pitch Perfect’ made $113 million worldwide, while ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ more than doubled the original with $250 million worldwide.

The original movie was based on Mickey Rapkin’s book “Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory.” The sequel was directed and produced by Elizabeth Banks and starred Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, Alexis Knapp and Banks.

While the project is in its early stages, be on the look out for casting calls for potential lead roles. Universal has not chosen a director or release date for ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ and it is uncertain which cast members will return.
