HBO’s ‘The Recruiters’ Open Casting Call for Lead Roles

The HBO cable network is working on a TV drama about a jihadi recruiting program that is set in Minnesota.

The New York Times reports Oscar winner Kathrn Bigelow, the director of The Hurt Locker will be the executive producer on the series currently titled The Recruiters. 

Canadian rapper and poet K’naan Warsame, who is originally from Somalia, will write the script and direct the show. The Hollywood Reporter says the show will “unveil what is considered a world that’s hidden in plain sight” and “draw open an iron curtain behind which viewers will see the highly impenetrable world of Jihadi recruitment.”

Warsame recently posted a casting call for a “young Somali man” on Twitter.

The producers held a casting call at the Brian Coyle Center in Minneapolis on Nov. 28, and are also planning open casting calls in San Diego, Toronto and Columbus, Ohio.

This TV show comes as police have investigated a number of young Minnesota men, a large majority of them of from Somali who left to fight for al-Shabab in East Africa starting in late 2007, but more recently to join ISIS.
Federal prosecutors have charged 10 Minnesotta men with planning to join the terror group in Syria.

Mark Wahlberg is getting ready to star in Transformers 5!

Nearly a year ago, actor Mark Wahlberg was pretty sure that he would return for another Transformers movie, and though details surrounding the new production have not been released, Mark Wahlberg has been keeping quiet about Transformers 5, until now. In an interview with CinePop, Mark Wahlberg confirmed once again that he will be back.

In the fourth Age of Extinction, Mark Wahlberg played Cade Yeager, a Texas inventor and mechanic who was also very protective of his daughter, Nicola Peltz’s Tessa Yeager. The movie would later go on to gross over $1.1 billion at the global box office, bringing the total Transformers franchise to a total gross of over $3.7 billion and that doesn’t even include merchandise.

Transformers 5 will be written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan from Black hawk Dawn. 

Michael Bay has not officially confirmed his return, however Bay is still the frontrunner to direct the next Transformers franchise film.

According to reports, Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will write an animated “origin story” movie that will focus around the Transformers home world Cybertron.

The new Transformers movie comes after producers created “Transformers writers room” with Hollywood’s biggest writers including The Walking Dead creator, Lost writer Jeff Pinkner, X-Men: The Last Stand writer Zak Penn and Black List scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworetrepeat.

Jigsaw Casting is looking for a ton of athletes to work on an upcoming commercial campaign in Toronto, Canada. Casting directors are looking for actors, models, and most importantly athletes ages 25 and older to work on the upcoming commercial. The commercial is expected to tackle ”

Stereotypes, gender roles, and social misconceptions riddle the world these days with society dictating what we can, or cannot do.

“Guys can’t do yoga,” “Shorter people can’t play basketball,” “Woman can’t be tough.”

These are the kinds of walls that we as a contemporary society are trying to break down, and show the world that anyone is capable of anything. That is what this campaign is all about.”

Athletes that are selected will be compensated $1500 for their work on the commercial.

**EVERYONE LEGALLY MUST BE OLDER THAN 25 YEARS OF AGE

BASKETBALL PLAYERS: (age 30-45) Male – Real and experienced basketball players short and tall ballers alike. Those that have been playing ball throughout their life and have the skills to back it up.

BOXERS: (age 30-40) Male & Female – A boxer than knows the sport inside and out. They not only enjoy it as a form of exercise, but also have grown to love its competitive side.

YOGI: (age 55+) Male & Female – A Yoga enthusiast that has the knowledge of the mind and body – and the skills to back it all up. Their pursuit of yoga knowledge has them mastering a wide number of complex poses.

BALLERINA: (age 25-35) Female – Not your average ballerina, looking for someone taller and bigger than your average ballerina. We are looking for someone that defies all stereotypes in ballerinas, but her passion for the art form shines through brighter than any other.

WEIGHT LIFTER: (age 35-45) Male – While the big guys may get all the attention, the Bruce Lees of the world can be just as impressive. The smaller stature, doesn’t denote a lack of strength whatsoever in this role!

*Pays approximately $1500.00 if selected

‘Star Wars: Force Awakens’ Casting Director Reveals Amazing Audition Tips

Several months ago, the Internet went crazy as Disney announced world-wide open casting call for the lead roles of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. 

Aspiring actors, models, and Star Wars fans stood in front of a blank wall and read the provided script about a galaxy far far away. But, who was the mystery casting director behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens? And how did she know what to look for in the midst of millions of video auditions?

Well, in a new interview with The Independent casting director Nina Gold reveals her best audition tips and how she cast Star Wars: The Force Awakens. 

Nina Gold is the casting director behind several major TV shows including Game of Thrones and The Wolf Hall. But, she says working on Star Wars required a ton of secrecy, “because you can’t even tell anybody what they might be meant to be doing”.

But, the casting director pointed out that she enjoyed casting unknown actors. It was “brilliant not having to cast someone from the same old list of names”, she says: “You don’t want somebody who was ‘that guy from some other franchise’. You want them to entirely belong to This World.”

That’s why she cast John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Saying, that George Lucas required the lead actors to not belong to another movie franchise and be relatively unknown.

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Cast Member Dies at 43

Rose Siggins, American Horror Story’s legless Suzi, dies at the young age of 43.

Siggins’ manager informed fans on Friday that the actress was “in the hospital and the outlook on her current health is grim.”

According to reports, Siggins’ manager, James Mullen told The Hollywood Reporter after planning a Go Fund Me page for the actress’ children. “I’m sad to report that Rose has passed away this morning around 7:30am. All funds raised will now be directed to final expenses and the continuing support of her children,” he wrote.

The post continued: “I suppose Elsa Mars said it best: ‘The death of a beloved monster is always a sorrow, but never a surprise. If oddly-formed organs or a random physical anomaly doesn’t claim them, then it is at the sheer density of their blaze. A carny’s life burns and brighter than most. It is bound to extinguish sooner.'”

American Horror Story producers and FX Networks issued a statement about the death of the Freak Show star saying: “”We are saddened to learn of the passing of Rose Siggins. She was beloved by everyone in the AHS family. She was a kind person, a loving mother and a very talented actor. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.”

The actress, who did not have legs, appeared as herself in several TV shows including Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Extraordinary People, before landing her role on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story as legless Suzi.

MTV Helicopter Crash Kills Two People

A helicopter working for an MTV reality show crashed on Saturday and both people on board were killed in Argentina.

According to reports, the helicopter crashed as it flew over the reservoir at Potrerillos de Mendoza dam about 600 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, the security ministry for Mendoza province told reporters.

The actual cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation. However, MTV issued a statement saying the helicopter was working on The Challenge and was flying to a shooting location when it crashed. MTV said two people were on the helicopter and neither was a cast or show crew member.

It is important to point out that this is the second helicopter accident this year in Argentina. Earlier this year, two helicopters working on the TV show Dropped collided while filming over northwestern Argentina and all 10 people on board died in the plane crash. Among the dead were three French athletes.

But, this is the third plane crash in South America this year. Tom Cruise’s new movie Mena was filming in Columbia when the plane crashed into a mountain. The crash, which is beleived to have been caused by poor visibility, took the lives of veteran Hollywood stunt pilot Alan D. Purwin and Venezuelan pilot Carlos Brel. A third pilot Jimmy Lee Garland survived the crash with serious injuries all over his body.

During an interview with Angelia Bishop for Studio 10, Bishop tells Ford that Donald Trump is a big fan of his and of the way he “stood up for America in Air Force One.”

“I don’t know how to deal” – Justin Bieber’s mystery crush, Cindy reacts to her secret crush.

Justin Bieber for some reason thought it was okay to post a picture of a random girl on his Instagram the other day admitting his infatuation and determination to find out who the mystery girl was.

And I don’t know about you guys, but there was something eerily close to Disney’s Cinederella, except without the glass slipper and evil step sisters.

Yes, it was as if Bieber had fallen in love at first sight as he urged his fans to find this brunette by throwing out an enthusiastic “omg who is this!!”

Thanks to Justin Bieber’s loyal fanbase and 110,000 comments later, Bieber fans found who the lucky lady was.

So who is this mysterious girl?

It turns out to be Cindy Kimberly, also known as “wolfiecindy” on Instagram.

The 17-year-old Cindy, felt compelled to respond to all of the attention she was getting. Keeping it simple, she posted the following on her Instagram account. “I so do not know how to deal with this but I only have instagram (I did use to have a twitter account but I deactivated) Edit: I just deleted my tumblr and someone took my old url”

I’m not surprised to learn that Cindy is having a hard time dealing with the 15 minutes of fame.

Who knows after these 15 minutes, this could start a beautiful romance with one of the most requested and sought after singers in the world?
