ABC hires Channing Dungey and she becomes the first black TV studio executive.
Channing Dungey, executive VP of drama at ABC, has been named entertainment president of ABC, replacing Paul Lee, who reportedly was in a power struggle with Ben Sherwood, president of Disney/ABC Television.
Dungey is now the first African-American person to be in charge of programming at a major broadcast network.
“Channing is a gifted leader and a proven magnet for top creative talent, with an impressive record of developing compelling, breakthrough programming that resonates with viewers,” said Sherwood. “We thank Paul for his many accomplishments at ABC and his devotion to the ABC brand, and we wish him continued success in the future.”
Dungey, who’s been with the network since 2009, is credited with developing many of ABC’s most diverse and successful dramas, including Scandal, Quantico, How to Get Away with Murder and American Crime.
Said Dungey, “I’m thrilled and humbled that Ben has entrusted me with this tremendous opportunity. And I am truly grateful to Paul for being a valued mentor and friend. I’ve had the great honor of working alongside the talented team at ABC for many years and look forward to starting this exciting new chapter with them.”
Dungey started her career as a development assistant for Davis Entertainment at 20th Century Fox. She then worked as a story editor at Steamroller Productions, where she worked on the development and production of movies such as Under Siege and On Deadly Ground. Following that she worked on hit movies such as The Matrix and Bridges of Madison County.

Here’s everything that was too expensive to appear in the new Deadpoolmovie
Deadpool is a comic book movie that was a passion project for everyone involved in the movie. This meant making the superhero movie required doing things on a very small budget. In fact, producers had to rewrite the script several times in order to save money including cutting a major character.
Here the 5 things producers removed from the original Deadpool movie in order to save money.
5. Garrison Kane
In the Deadpoolcomics, Kane is another product of the Weapon X program that produced Deadpool. He was originally in the movie, but was cut because his robot arms were a budget breaker. Director Tim Miller told Empire:
In the original script the action in the third act was great, but it was just Deadpool and a lot of guns. One of my notes early on was that I wanted to see more superhero stuff. We had Garrison Kane in there for a while, but in the final round of budget cuts we had to take him out, because he was a pretty expensive dude. He’s got these bionic arms that change shape; he would have been a visual effect for a large part of the movie. And as it turned out, a visual effect too far.
4. Bigger Final Fight Scene
Tim Miller wanted an even bigger superhero fighting in the third act, and the script included it for a long time. In addition to cutting Garrison Kane, the villains Sluggo and Wire were also expected to appear in the episode. According to reports, Kane, Sluggo, and Wire’s roles were all condensed into a single superhero and given to Gina Carano who played Angele Dust.
3. Several X-Men were Cut
In an earlier version of the movie script, Cannonball was Colossus’ young X-Men partner. That part was reworked to be given to the very minor character Negasonic Teenage Warhead. In the Empire Film Podcast, Ryan Reynolds said that even getting two X-Men was tough.
We went through such hell developing the script and which X-Men we could keep and which we couldn’t and it just turned into a nightmare. The studio would just say, ‘too expensive, too expensive, too expensive’ to everyone. So finally we were like well, “What about Negasonic Teenage Warhead” and they said, “Negasonic, what?”
Tim Miller explained Cannonball would have been “a stupid hick character.” Negasonic, opened up the real of teenage X-Men to the movie.
2. A ton of Marvel Cameos
Ryan Reynolds said that he had originally wanted to have Taskmaster, the mercenary with the ability to replicate the physical skills of anyone he sees, in the movie. This would have probably been a brilliant fight sequence and had mercenaries on both sides of the line.
We had endless [conversations about other X-Men]. Taskmaster was in the script originally, too expensive. We had versions where we wanted Hugh Jackman in there, we wanted all kinds of cameos from different people, but it just becomes a big mess for the studio.
But, the abilities were cut because it would require more special effects and the expense of obtaining character rights from Marvel.
1.More action scenes
According to reports, in order for the movie to be within the budget, Tim Miller had to cut seven million dollars from the budget, which meant losing nine pages of action scenes from the movie script.
There was a reduction of action. We had a motorcycle chase between Deadpool and Ajax on the freeway that we took out. We had a big, big gun fight in the third act that we took out and we basically had Deadpool forget his guns as a means of getting around it. So there were just reductions.
Either way Deadpool still dominated in the box office illustrating that a big budget movie and a ton of fight action scenes does not always sell movie tickets. Instead, a good storyline, a funny a character and an R-Rated movie is all that it takes to win Box Office Gold.
The Walking Deadmidseason premiere was so realistic that the police showed up.
The Walking Dead has millions upon millions of followers, who are so bloody loyal they quit their Valentine’s Day plans for a midseason zombie drama premiere. The insanely amazing episode was so loud that one family from Great Falls, Montana received some unexpected visitors. All of this happened after some neighbors heard gunfire and shouting coming from next door. They grew alarmed and called the 911.
The home’s occupants were simply watching The Walking Dead while armed police officers arrived with weapons drawn. Not only that, but police reportedly “surrounded” the home. Then officers realized that absolutely nothing was wrong, except maybe that The Walking Deadsounded too realistic.
A 911 call came in at 7:28 p.m. from a neighbor who heard “screaming from a house about someone having a gun,” according to Great Falls Police Department notes from the call. A second caller helped the seven responding officers locate the house on the 600 block of 8th Street North.
GFPD Sgt. Brian McGraw said the officers surrounded the residence, responding to a disturbance possibly involving a gun. “We had a whole bunch of guys on that one,” he noted.
The officers showed up and peaked inside the home’s windows. They observed a family watching the TV. So the officers turned around walked away.

Sunday was a big night for cable television. AMC’s hit TV series The Walking Dead returned for the second half of its sixth season, and HBO launched what could be the most ambitious series of 2016, the Martin Scorsese 1970s rock drama Vinyl.
While Sunday’s season 6 midseason return delivered a ton of action, the show’s numbers have dropped from last year. The episode delivered 13.7 million viewers and a 6.8 rating among adults 18-49, dropping about 12% in total viewers from last February 5th season return. This is also down from the fall finale of 18.3 million total viewers. That’s a drop of 25%.
On the bright side, The Walking Dead is still the biggest adult demo rating for a scirpted series so far this year. While AMC is no longer posting record ratings every season like its first four years, it’s also not on the verge of getting cancelled.

Kanye West fans have started donating thousands to help Kanye out of debt.
After Go Fund Me shut down the first fundraising page to help Kanye West out of debt, a new fan has started another Go Fund Me page to help Kanye and apparently it’s working.
As Kanye West has told us time and time again he is the “greatest living artist and greatest artist of all time.” Great artists need to be supported financially to achieve their full potential.
To quote Mr. West, “I am Warhol. I am the number one most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google. Now who’s gonna be the Medici family and stand up and let me create more!”
The founder of the campaign, Jeremy Piatt, told Mashable that he’s “trying to help out the greatest living artist of our time while he’s in need… I knew I had to do anything I could to help, because as all my friends would tell you, I’m just a very giving person.”
Piatt is the Co-founder and Creative Director at Paul Bunyan Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Paul Bunyan Design offers branding, logo and web design services, serving a number of clients – though West isn’t one of them.
So far, his “friends” have donated over $1,000.

According to Forbes.com, Go Fund Me is making sure that the money will be delivered to Kanye West.
While admitting that it’s “for fun, for sure,” Piatt says he doesn’t want a “single penny.” He says he’s working with GoFundMe to make sure that the money goes directly to West. GoFundMe is used to situations where campaigns are earmarked for beneficiaries, noting on their site that, “Through GoFundMe they [the beneficiaries] will be given direct access to the money you have raised for them.”
However, this may backfire for Piatt. Because, according to reports, the IRS would be after Piatt for the gift tax.
If the IRS felt that Piatt had exercised control over the money, it might have been subject to gift tax when he turned it over to West. The gift tax on $53 million? A whopping $19,020,000. Piatt could argue that he was simply a middleman – but why even have to make that argument? If, however, as is the case here, the money were paid directly over to West, there are no fraud or tax issues.

The Walking Dead is back and full swing and if you’re interested in what’s happening in the next episode of the zombie-drama we have the exclusive news via the Spoiling Dead Fans.
Here’s what’s happening in the next episode. There’s a major time jump and Carl is alright and everything is getting back to normal in Alexandria.
The main plot of the episode centers around Rick and Daryl who are on a supply run. They finally meet Jesus who tricks them and steals their truck full of supplies. They catch up with him but the truck ends up sinking into a lake. They take Jesus with them to Alexandria as a captive but he shows up in Rick’s bedroom at the end of the episode, telling him they need to talk.
There’s a subplot with Michonne and Spencer as well as Carl and Enid roaming through the woods. Not much really happens. They find a walker Carl doesn’t want to kill, but it isn’t revealed who it is. Later, Michonne and Spencer find the same walker-lured into their direction by Carl-and it turns out to be Deanna.

– There’s a time jump, Carl is fine, it’s quiet and peaceful in Alexandria, people are cleaning up and rebuilding.
The main plot revolves around Rick and Daryl who are on a supply run. They meet Jesus who tricks them and steals their truck full of supplies. They catch up with him but the truck ends up sinking into a lake unintentionally. It’s all quite fun, especially the banter between Daryl and Jesus. They take Jesus with them to Alexandria as a captive but he shows up in Rick’s bedroom at the end of the episode, telling him they need to talk.
– There’s a subplot with Michonne and Spencer as well as Carl and Enid roaming through the woods. Not much happens during the Carl and Enid part. They find a walker Carl doesn’t want to kill, but it isn’t revealed who it is. Later, Michonne and Spencer find the same walker – lured into their direction by Carl – and it turns out to be a zombified Deanna. Spencer kills her and finds closure.
– By the end of the episode, Rick and Michonne have sex, just like that. They hold hands, make out and then have sex and when Jesus arrives in Rick’s bedroom they’re naked in bed together.
– Denise mentions that Tara and Heath are about to go on a 2 week supply run which makes me think they will be captured by Negan and Tara will be toast soon.
A heart carved into red rock is drawing the attention of authorities in Arizona who are investigating to see if actress Vanessa Hudgens is the culprit.
According to reports, Vanessa Hudgens posted a photo of the carving, bearing the names Vanessa and Austin, on her Instagram page Sunday but later removed it. Other photos with the hash tag “sedonadreams” still appeared on the site Tuesday.
The media brought the photo to the attention of the Coconino National Forest, which manages land around Sedona known for their towering red rocks.

Smith said he isn’t sure whether law enforcement has located a heart that matches the one posted by Hudgens within the forest’s 250 square-mile Red Rock Ranger District. Authorities will be researching social media posts and trying to contact any witnesses, he said.
Damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service land is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a maximum $5,000 fine. Smith said he’s unaware of any signs in the district to inform people of the law. Forest officials try to maintain the natural beauty of the area, he said.
Vanessa Hudgens recently appeared on Fox’s live production of Grease. She’s best known for her role as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical TV show and movie.
A representative for Hudgens, 27, did not immediately respond to messages left by the Associated Press.

Deadpoolcrossover X-Menmovie is not going to happen.
Deadpool earned an astonishing $132 million over the three-day weekend, making it the biggest R-rated opening ever and the biggest opener in history of 20th Century Fox.
Hollywood executives must have known this was going to be a big movie, because a sequel is already in the works with the same writing team who brought Deadpool to life, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
So what exactly will the next involve? Well, you stayed long enough to catch the two post-credits sequences at the end of Deadpool you know that it was revealed that Cable will appear in the follow-up.
Cable was a character who, like Deadpool, appeared in Marvel’s New Mutants title in the early 1990s.
Cable’s full comic history is extremely complicated, but all you really need to know is that he’s from the future. Which explains that Deadpool 2 will involve some time-traveling adventures.
So who else is going to appear in the next Deadpool? We’re guessing on other members of the X-Men members will appear in the next movie.
However, producer Simon Kinberg tells New York Post that the producers want Deadpool movies to seem an entity unto themselves, not “leaning on the X-Men movies.”
“I’d love to see them in a movie together, because it would be funny. But the tones are very different,” Kinberg says. “The X-Men movies are very dramatic, almost operatic. That’s something that Deadpool could make fun of in a crossover movie, but we also want to be respectful of the X-Men movies.”
In other words, expect the character to move forward in a series of movies only barely linked to the X-Men universe. Deadpool probably won’t ever team-up with any of the major characters. According to reports, Deadpool probably wont ever team up with any of the A-list mutants, such as Professor X and Wolverine, and that’s probably a good thing.

About Novitiate:
