Why Actors Are About to Make A Lot More Money

New SAG-AFTRA commercial deal will make actors a lot more money.

Actors are about to make a whole lot more money. SAG-AFTRA, the union for actors, has recently agreed upon a new deal that is expected to increase not only commercial payouts but residuals as well for millions of actors in the film industry.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the new deal will immediately increases wages by 7 percent and additionally increases residuals for national broadcast, cable commercials and internet commercials.

Key points in the new deal include:

* A 7 percent upfront increase in minimum session fees for principals and extras, effective April 1 of this year. This wage increase will also have the effect of increasing residuals (use fees), but as noted below there are additional increases in some residuals beyond the general wage increase.

* A 1.2 percent increase in the contribution rates paid by management to the SAG pension & health plans and AFTRA health & retirement funds, bringing the rate to 18 percent.

* A 2 percent increase in residuals paid for national network broadcast commercials, so-called Class A spots, on top of the wage increase.

* A 6 percent increase in national cable residuals, again in addition to the wage increase.

* A new rate for stand-ins, which will be 10 percent higher than the rate paid to extras.

* Increases in residuals for Internet commercials and commercials on cell phones. The increases range up to 16.7 percent, and are in addition to the wage increase.

* Provisions that television commercials can be concurrently streamed on the internet or via cell phones without owing additional compensation to the actors.

* Provisions that allow for internet and cellphone commercials to be played on the basis of a four-week use cycle in addition to the existing eight-week and one-year cycle options.

* An experimental “social media waiver,” providing special terms on a trial basis for commercials produced for social media platforms.

* A confidentiality clause, as part of the standard employment contracts for principal and extra performers.

* A provision that Veteran’s Day will be a recognized holiday.

Wahlberg, Scott Stuber, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson and Michael Radutzky are producing the movie.

According to Variety, J.K. Simmons will play Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese of the Watertown Police Department. Four days after the 2013 bombing, the off-duty officer jumped fences and went through backyards to flank bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Mark Wahlberg will play a Boston Police Department officer who was central to the investigation and manhunt.

Hollywood Animal Trainer Charged with Animal Cruelty [VIDEO]

Hollywood animal trainer is now facing animal cruelty charges.

It takes a lot of time, money and hard work to make a movie. That kind of pressure spreads from the director, to the producer, to the background extras. But, sometimes certain movies require animals to appear on set as well and unfortunately, that undue amount of pressure is then placed on them.

According to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, a trainer who has supplied animals for Hollywood movies and was caught on video allegedly verbally abusing and whipping a Siberian tiger under his care has been hit with criminal charges in Canada. From THR:

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Wednesday said it formally filed animal cruelty charges against Michael Hackenberger, the owner of the Bowmanville Zoo. The zoo keeper in December 2015 was shown in a video obtained by animal rights group PETA apparently swearing at and whipping the young tiger 19 times.

The zoo is located roughly an hour outside of Toronto. In all, Hackenberger faces five charges of animal cruelty, including one charge of causing an animal distress by pushing his thumb into the animal’s eye, and another charge of failing to comply with prescribed standards of care for a tiger.

Hackenberg has supplied a ton of animals for major motion pictures and TV shows including The Interview and a Bengal tiger in the Ang Lee movie Life of Pi.

This is not the first time animal cruelty has surfaced online. An investigation in 2013 found that another tiger on set of Life of Pi allegedly nearly drowned during filming.

Hackenberger has denied all claims by PETA that he hit the Siberian tiger with a whip 19 times. PETA has released the video online (Viewer’s Discretion is Advised):

Disney Creating Live-Action Peter Pan Movie

A new Peter Pan movie is coming soon to theaters thanks to Disney.

Following the success of Jon Favreau’s live-action The Jungle Book movie, Disney is looking to capitalize by creating a live-action Peter Pan movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the boy who never grows up will be getting the full-feature treatment from director David Lowery who just made Pete’s Dragon for Disney studios. Lowery is known for edgy drama following his successful movie Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and he’s expected to reteam up with Pete’s Dragon co-writer Toby Halbrooks.

Disney has several live-action movies planned or are currently in production. For example, Emma Watson’s Beauty and the Beast is headed to theaters next year. Also, Emma Stone will star as Cruella De Ville in the upcoming 101 Dalmatians reboot. In addition, Tim Burton’s sequel to Alice in Wonderland will hit theaters later on this year.

It’s important to point out that the last Peter Pan movie flopped in the box office. When Warner Bros. decided to recreate Peter Pan with the movie Pan, the studio spent millions upon millions of dollars to create the movie. Jared Fogle’s Prison Love Letters Leak Online and They’re Creepy

Jared Fogle’s pen pal letters leak online…

Jared Fogle used to be on top of the world. He was SUBWAY’s spokesperson, he lost a ton of weight and ran a non-profit foundation. But, all of that came crashing down around in 2015 when, yy his own admission, Jared revealed had sex with two minors and obtained child pornography of 12 other children as young as six years old. Since then Jared Fogle’s life has been tarnished. His life left him. Subway ended all relationships with the former spokesperson and he’s now sitting in prison.

Details from Jared Fogle’s life behind prison bars keep leaking to the press, which is expected. People are extremely interested in learning how the prison system is treating a convicted child molester. Apparently, Fogle has received “cake day” as well as getting his butt kicked and getting placed in solitary confinement. Reports also indicated that Fogle was saved by prison officials who decided to move the inmate who beat him up to a different prison.

Despite getting beat up, Fogle has made some friends from behind bars. According to In Touch magazine, Fogle now has a pen pal, who sold personal letters from Fogle to the tabloid magazine. Basically, Fogle appears to trying to set up a conjugal visit. In the letter it first appears as though he’s an innocent man who’s been unjustly convicted and placed in a Colorado prison:

“It has been a very hard nine months for me. I made a couple of mistakes but nothing like the media reports have said. They are making me into some sort of monster which is absolutely not true. I’m currently appealing my prison sentence and am hoping for the best with it. Bottom line, my director of my foundation and friend did some bad stuff and tried to throw me under the bus with him.”

But, The letter also shows Fogle telling his female pen pal that her photos are amazing:

“So hot!!! so hot!! (Just like I remember). Your two pictures you sent me have just made me smile so, so, much!! Can you send me some more good ones? I need you in my life big time.”

Denzel Washington’s new movie Fences is now hiring new stand-ins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Casting directors are looking for an actor that resembles Stephen Henderson. Stephen Henderson known for acting in  Tower Heist (2011), Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) and Lincoln (2012).

Producers are looking for talent that are able to work several days starting late April until June 10th.

About Fences:

Fences is the story about a former baseball athlete who struggles to provide for his family as a trash collector in the 1950s Pittsburgh after being denied to join the Major Leagues due to being African American. The original movie took place in 1987 with James Earl Jones as the lead role. Denzel Washington won a Tony in 2010 alongside Viola Davis. Denzel Washington will star alongside Viola Davis in the HBO film adaptation.
