A new Peter Pan movie is coming soon to theaters thanks to Disney.
Following the success of Jon Favreau’s live-action The Jungle Book movie, Disney is looking to capitalize by creating a live-action Peter Pan movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the boy who never grows up will be getting the full-feature treatment from director David Lowery who just made Pete’s Dragon for Disney studios. Lowery is known for edgy drama following his successful movie Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and he’s expected to reteam up with Pete’s Dragon co-writer Toby Halbrooks.
Disney has several live-action movies planned or are currently in production. For example, Emma Watson’s Beauty and the Beast is headed to theaters next year. Also, Emma Stone will star as Cruella De Ville in the upcoming 101 Dalmatians reboot. In addition, Tim Burton’s sequel to Alice in Wonderland will hit theaters later on this year.

It’s important to point out that the last Peter Pan movie flopped in the box office. When Warner Bros. decided to recreate Peter Pan with the movie Pan, the studio spent millions upon millions of dollars to create the movie. However, the movie flopped in the box office adding a large blemish to Hugh Jackman and Garret Hedlund’s acting career.
