Without Kristen Stewart, Universal’s new movie The Huntsman: Winter’s War flopped in the U.S. box office earning only $20 million from nearly 4,000 theaters. To add insult to injury, Universal spent $115 million to make the movie. Internationally, Huntsman earned a total of $80.2 million for a total of $100.3 million in the box office worldwide.
Meanwhile, Disney’s The Jungle Book earned $500 million in the box office. The Jon-Favreau directed movie defied expectations in it’s second weekend, falling a mere 41% to $60.8 million. Oversear, Jungle Book earned another $96 million.
Disney’s The Jungle Book demonstrates the company’s domination in the box office. The movie studio’s decision to make classic cartoon movies and turn them into live-action thrillers has become an extremely smart decision in hindsight. This is probably explains why Universal’s Huntsman flopped in the box office. Universal put their money on Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt’s star power. But, studies have shown that movies with little diversity have consistently performed lower and lower in the box office. While, Disney’s Jungle Book embraced diversity by casting a non-white actor for the leading role.
In addition, movie reviews for Huntsmanwere terrible. For example, The Atlantic bashed the movie saying,“When people gripe about Hollywood’s reliance on sequels and cheap franchise cash-ins, this is the kind of movie they mean: no Grimm’s Fairy Tale, but a grim tale nonetheless.”

It’s worth pointing out that Chris Hemsworth acting career outside of Thor has not done well in the Box Office. His latest movie,In the Heart of the Sea, bombed in the box office. And the movie before that Blackhat, also flopped in the box office. Unfortunately for Hemsworth, his star power may be worthless as he is not able to sell movie tickets outside of Marvel movies.

After months of rumors, speculation, and discussion about Jon Snow’s fate, Game of Thrones will return to HBO this weekend to let us know what happened. Millions of people will tune in to see the first episode of season six on Sunday, and millions of other people will probably illegally download pirated copies of it in the following hours.

With all of the hype and news about season 6 of The Game of Thrones this is something you do not want to miss.
Season 6 is based on Game thrones is based on the unreleased sixth novel of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, The Winds of Winter, including with a significant amount of material from the fourth and fifth books, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons. HBO features episodes which run concurrently but follow different sets of characters. The new season premieres on April 24, 2016.
In a recent interview with HBO’s Game of Thronesleading lady, Maisie Williams, Williams discussed what it was like working on the show for season 6.
It was amazing. I remember being at the premiere with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] and Sophie [Turner, who plays Sansa] and I was like, “Do I get to go to Croatia this year?” and they were like, “Yeah!” I was so, so happy because every year, Sophie’s gone off to Croatia and had a banging time. I’d be like, “Yeah, it was really, really great in rainy Belfast. I had a whale of a time.” Don’t get me wrong, Belfast is amazing, but everyone needs a bit of sun every now and then. When Sophie learned that she couldn’t go to the hot, sunny places and I could, I think she died a bit on the inside. I was totally thrilled.

Will a new California law help protect professional models?
A California legislator’s proposal to create new health standards and workplace protections for professional models in California cleared its first major obstacle on Wednesday, aided in part by testimony from former models who described harsh working conditions that involved sexual harassment and coercion to lose weight.
According to Mercury News, many talent agents objected the new piece of legislation, which is currently called Assembly Bill 2539 “Promoting Healthy Images” legislation – passed on a 5 to 2 vote. It now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee and if it passes there, would move to state Senate committees for consideration.
From Mercury News:
“I think that the powerful women beside me have made a compelling case” for the legislation, Marin County Democrat Marc Levine, the bill’s author, told the seven members of the Assembly’s Committee on Labor and Employment. They had just heard from three ex-models who recounted a workplace environment that they characterized as physically and mentally abusive.
“We made history by providing vital protection for farmworkers, and banning smoking in the workplace” as well as increasing the state’s minimum wage, Levine said. “This bill continues California’s worker protection efforts.”
Here’s the new requirements, if passed:
All modeling agencies be licensed with the state Labor Commission
Models be specified as employees, not contract workers.
Require the state Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board adopt standards for models that address issues like workplace safety, eating disorders and sexual exploitation.
Penalties would be determined under current state labor law.
Levine said that the legislation would not only add vital protections for models, who he said typically begin working in the industry as children, but would also address concerns about the pressure models face about extreme thinness, and the social implications those images have, particularly on adolescent girls.
A former fashion model Nikki DuBose revealed that she was sexually harassed, financially exploited and pressured to lose weight. In fact Dubose revealed she became anorexic thanks to the modeling industry. “That is what happens in the modeling industry on a regular basis, and that is what happened to me.”
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Chappelle told his sold out audience, “This is black 9/11… I almost thought about not coming tonight, but my band was like, ‘Yo, Prince would definitely not condone that.”
The band played a Prince tribute playlist and Chapelle eventually took out a tambourine featuring Prince’s symbol and joined in on the fun, according to reports.
It’s hard to deny Dave Chappelle’s relationship with Prince. Ever since The Chappelle’s Show, Dave Chappelle will always be associated with Prince because of his Charlie Murphy “True Hollywood Story” sketch about the musician’s incredible basketball skills on the court. It was so popular that even Prince used Dave Chapelle’s image for a cover of the song Breakfast Can Wait.
Dave Chappelle said he was contacted by reporters all day, after news of Prince’s death was announced, “I kept wondering all day, ‘Why are they calling me?… I’ll tell you what: I didn’t know him well, but I knew him well…It’s so much better that we grieve together.”

An unexpected casting announcement may have revealed a major death on The Walking Dead. Spoiler Alert?
Last season ended with a horrific cliffhanger. But the scene may prove to have a fatal flaw, as a particular casting decision revealed by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday could have already revealed what happened. The controversy surrounds a fan favorite character Glenn, who is played by Steven Yeun, 32.
In the season six finale, new villain Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, takes his baseball bat and apparently viciously hits an unknown character to death death.
Speculation among fans have started immediately, as it was not clear whether the show would follow the blueprint of the comic book on which it is based.
In the comics, Glenn is the character who is brutally killed by Negan. According to reports, Yeun has joined the cast of the upcoming sci-fi film Okja. The movie is the sequel to the Bong Joon-Ho’s beloved Snowpiercer movie and will also star Lily Collins and Devon Bostick.
Deadline reported that filming on the movie started on Friday, while shooting for season 7 of The Walking Dead is scheduled to begin in May.
It has been suggested that since the shooting schedules greatly overlap, Yuen may have been killed off The Walking Dead, as he can’t shoot two different projects at once.
There is a chance that producers can alter their filming schedules to fit Yuen in, but the situation has cat doubt and led many fans to question the cliffhanger episode.
Either way, all will be revealed when season premieres fall 2016.

River Monsters discovers man on a deserted island and save his life.
River Monsters presenter Jeremy Wades has probably seen it all, but nothing could have prepared him for what he encountered while filming one day.
In a new episode, Death Down Under, which aired last week, the crew captured on camera an extraordinary moment when they came face to face with a castaway on a deserted island. The team was investigating the death of six men in a plane crash near Australia’s Gulf of Carpentaraia when they spotted the fisherman crying for help. Stephen Shearman director of the episode told Inside edition:
“He had said his last prayer. He was prepared to die and meet his maker.”
The director revealed that the team had not originally intended on filming at that end of the island, but due to choppy waters at their first film location they decided to move. He revealed:
“Together, we spotted this blue Esky, or cooler box, that was just sat on the rock.”
Ironically, the team started joking that Tom Hanks might pop out of nowhere. But to their surprise someone really did appear.
This guy with no clothes was running out of the cave, waving his arms out.”
It was later discovered that the man, named Tremine, had been stranded for over 60 hours after venturing off his fishing boat in search of better oysters. Tremine was unable to predict the weather conditions and found himself trapped after taking a wrong turn.
“He had tried to walk back, got beaten by the sun, and made his way back to the beach. Meanwhile, he had suffered from sunstroke and was unable to go any further. He then spent that first night on the beach, and the next morning he tried again, but the sun had gotten to be too much for him, and at this point, he is now trapped.
Everything was fine, and within two to three hours, everything wasn’t really fine at all. In his own words, he was ‘preparing to die.'”
Your body can only survive for up to 72 hours without water, meaning Tremine was going to die in a few hours.
With no wife or children, nobody on the mainland had suspected Tremine had gone missing, but luckily fate was on his side and he survived to live another day. As soon as the crew found him, he was hauled aboard the boat and given hydration pills.
“His body wasn’t ready for that at all. His condition was quite serious. I don’t know if you’ve met Australian men, but they’re very proud. The idea that he’d gotten lost was mortifying for him. Once he got rehydrated, his strength gained straight back. His recovery was quick.”

Chyna’s final video goes viral hours after her dead body was found in her California home.
The 45-year-old wrestling legend’s body was discovered in her California apartment on Wednesday but, before Chyna’s dead body was discovered she uploaded a mysterious video to YouTube.
WWE Superstar Chyna was found dead in her apartment on Wednesday and in the 13-minute video posted on Sunday she spoke to her fans. “I hope you have a beautiful day,” she said. “Wake up, wake up, wake up. Or sleep in. Or stay in bed all damn day today. It’s Sunday, right? Love you all, peace.”
In the video, Chyna gives fans health tips while drinking a bottle of juice and making a smoothie.
In the strange video, she can be seen walking around her beach-side home talking to herself, wearing headphones and feathers in her hair and slurring her speech.
“So passive aggressive,” Chyna said, while peering into her fridge. “I’m like just rude lately. But doing good. I’m having fun because I feel like I can express myself.”
Chyna was found dead in her Redondo Beach, California home on Wednesday. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Chyna was a one-time WWF Women’s Champion and two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion. She was the first woman to compete in the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring events, along with becoming a number one contender for the WWF Championship.
But outside of wrestling, Chyna appeared in Playboy, several reality shows and several porn movies.

Gary Owen is a white comedian that is loved by black audiences and in the first time in BET history he will have his own show.
BET announced Owen’s reality series, Gary Owen Family, this week. “This is the new face of the American family,” Owen said at the event. “I feel like Ben Carson at the GOP debate.”
According to People the show “will follow the antics of his culturally blended family, as his wife is black and their children are interracial.”
Owen co-starred in Think Like A Man, and is known for making jokes about his relationship with the black community. He has also hosted BET’s Comic View, the only white comedian to have done so.

Tina Fey tried to get an audition for Into The Woods and it didn’t go well.
Tina Fey recently revealed the details of her embarrassing Into The Woods audition while talking to her friend Damian Holbrook as part of the Tribeca Talks: Storytellers series at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Apparently, Tina Fey revealed that she dreamed of starring on a musical but, she wasn’t prepared for what happened next.
Fey explained:
I tried to talk my way into that movie. I did that thing you never do, where I’m like, ‘May I please audition?’ And it’s like, ‘They knew where you were sweetheart. They’d have found you if they wanted you to audition’ … That was in my weird year off between TV shows, when I realized when people say they’re gonna like stretch themselves? It just means they’re gonna annoy people. Rob Marshall did not need to hear me sing in his apartment.
While Tina Fey didn’t go into detail about the role she auditioned for, I’m going to predict she went out for The Witch or The Baker’s Wife, parts that were ultimately given to Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. Obviously there’s no shame in being beaten to these roles by these formidably talented individuals, especially since Meryl Streep went on to claim yet another Oscar-nomination for her work in the fantasy musical.
Into The Woods did extremely well in the box office and was praised by critics. The movie scored a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned $213 million at the box office. Maybe a Mean Girls musical is coming soon?
High school basketball player was arrested after it was discovered he was a 30-year-old man.
The Catholic Central High School boys basketball team, located in Windsor, Ontario, has a really talented basketball player. Jonathon Nicola is a 6-foot-9 center that is so good that the coach put together a workout video and is reported to have a good shot at going pro. However, his chances are pretty much over because Nicola is 30 years old.
According to the Windsor Star, Nicola, who is from South Sudan, has been arrested for violating the Immigration Refugee Protection Act, and is believed to be 30 years old. Tammy Smith Casting of Atlanta posted a casting call on Facebook looking for men and women who can briskly walk or run for a scene filming this sunday April 24th in Northwest of Atlanta. Casting directors are looking for background extras between the ages of 18 to 60 to work on the scene.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy featured Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana and Vin Diesel. It would later become a box office hit making nearly $775 million dollars worldwide. The release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. Details surrounding the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie have not been revealed.
