BET Gives a White Guy a Show for the First Time in History

Date:

Gary Owen is a white comedian that is loved by black audiences and in the first time in BET history he will have his own show.

BET announced Owen’s reality series, Gary Owen Family, this week. “This is the new face of the American family,” Owen said at the event. “I feel like Ben Carson at the GOP debate.”

According to People the show “will follow the antics of his culturally blended family, as his wife is black and their children are interracial.”

Owen co-starred in Think Like A Man, and is known for making jokes about his relationship with the black community. He has also hosted BET’s Comic View, the only white comedian to have done so.

You can check out a clip of his stand-up comedy below.

While many people may call it racist, black America has grown to love him and BET noticed.
