IFC’s Brockmire open casting call for recurring roles in Atlanta, Georgia.

IFC’s new comedy series Brockmire is now casting recurring roles for the new series in Atlanta, Georgia. Casting directors are looking for extras to play bar patrons for several scenes in the new TV show. Filming will take place between Monday June 13th through the 16th in Atlanta, Georgia.

About Brockmire:

According to Variety, Brockmire is one of two shows set to film in Atlanta, Georgia. The second is Stan Against Evil. Brockmire centers around a Hank Azaria  who plays a “veteran baseball announcer who returns to the booth for a minor league team 10 years after he suffered an on-air meltdown.” Joel Church-Cooper from Undatable is writing the script with Tim Kirkby directing the show. Hank Azaria, Church-Cooper, Stan Kirkby and Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Joe Farrell are executive producing the project.

‘Game of Thrones’ Casting Directors Saved This Actress From A Life Of Prostitution

Game of Thrones cast a former prostitute and changed her life forever.

Game of Thrones is life changing. The drama, based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series, has received a lot of criticism for it’s nudity and graphic sex scenes but, it has also changed the lives for some of the actresses appearing on the show. One such case involves actress Josephine Gillian, who you might recognize as the red-headed prostitute Marei who is dragged from her life at the brothel by the High Sparrow and his religious freaks. Marei has been a major character on Game of Thrones from the start of the show. In fact, she first appeared in the second season as a prostitute who is taught how to fake an orgasm.

Most people would hate being fully nude, while filming a show viewed by millions of people around the world, but for Gillian, playing a prostitute on TV has helped her escape being one in real life.

The 26-year-old actress told reporters she had been forced into a life of human trafficking at an early age before she saw a casting call that changed her life.

I was working as a whore and at the same time making X-rated movies, using the name Sophie O’Brien, when I saw an advert on a website for actresses in the film industry.

They were looking for young women with natural breasts and no tattoos, who didn’t mind being filmed naked. So I immediately sent in a picture. They wrote back that they wanted me and I was thrilled because it was an amazing opportunity to do some proper acting. But I had no idea how much it would change my life.

Gillan revealed she suffered from a very traumatic childhood moving frequently as her mother tried to runaway from an abusive relationship. She was exposed to drugs and alcohol while she was only 14 years old. Then, she was pimped out and raped by a family friend.

“I was too frightened to tell anyone because he threatened to bury me in the garden if I did,” she said. “He said he’d done it before and I believed him.”

However, it was her casting on Game of Thrones that eventually helped her leave a life of prostitution behind. Though the actress often finds her self nude in front of the camera, she says the environment on the Game of Thrones set is completely professional and supportive.

The reality is that the male actors are so uncomfortable doing sex scenes that I can usually feel them shaking nervously under me.I think they suffer from performance anxiety, because they are almost naked and there are usually about 30 crew members on set. They didn’t need to show me how to do anything because that’s how I earned my living.

Gillan hopes that her role on Game of Thrones will lead to more acting jobs. She has already booked two additional indie movies and is ramping up production to star in a horror mystery movie.

At the end of the day, Gillan’s experience shows that Hollywood and the film industry can change lives and make dreams come true.

Hollywood Has a Major Sequel Problem

Audiences are skipping out and avoiding sequels as another sequel flops in the box office.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 opened last weekend to a disappointing $35.3 million. Despite, being the number one movie in America, the movie was a far cry from the original franchise’s debut of $65.6 million, demonstrating a 50% decrease in financial interest by the public.

But, TMNT2 is not the first sequel to perform badly in the box office this year, Alice Through The Looking Glass, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Kung Fu Panda 3 earned way less in domestic box office in comparison to their previous movie. The only sequel to do well this year has been Captain America: Civil War, which is more of a serial movie reminiscent of the 1940’s Green Hornet and Superman series.

So why are sequels doing so poorly in the box office? According to a recent interview with Variety, Jeff Bock, an analyst with Exhibitor Relations said, “These films aren’t as good as the first ones, and they’re suffering at the box office.” And producing poor sequels is hurting the film industry. In fact, Paramount spent $135 million on the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. When asked why the movie performed so badly in the box office, Paramount studio executive Rob Moore told Variety, “Audiences are challenging us to make excellent movies.” Moore added, “The fact that it’s part of a franchise or sequel doesn’t let you off the hook. You need to raise the bar and make the story exciting, compelling and fun.”

And he’s probably right. As ticket prices increase and the United States has one of the worst employment rates in decades, families are presumably choosing watch a movie on Netflix or Redbox than spend $15 per person for a movie, they are not wholeheartedly interested in.

Sequels used to be an easy answer to the film industry’s “what movie should we make next?” problem. And over the next coming weeks, moviegoers will be treated to several new seuqles including a Ghostbusters, Independence Day, Finding Nemo, Star Trek, Jason Bourne and Ice Age sequel. How the recent box office performance of these upcoming sequels will pay out, we will just have to wait and see. But, if the recent Ghostbusters backlash is any indication of how the sequel will do, then I bet audiences are going to avoid the movie theater like the plague.

‘Popstar’ Flops in the Box Office

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping flops as audiences avoid Andy Samberg.

This weekend’s most advertised, most talked about, and highly expected box office hit movie, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, flopped in the box office. The movie only earned $4.3 million dollars in the box office and according to reports, Universal spent $21 million to make the mockumentary.

Popstar featured Andy Samberg as a Justin Bieber singer and his Lonely Island partners. The group is best known for their comedic songs and parodies such as Dick in a Box and I’m On A Boat. The studio thought that Popstar was going to develop a cult like following and perhaps spin-off into a franchise group or movie series. However, Popstar was a major disappointment highlighting the fact that audiences are not that interested in Andy Samberg movies. In fact, according to Box Office Mojo, Popstar is ranked in the top 100 (rank 54) worst box office openings of 2016.

Governors Ball Cancelation

Following the cancelation of Sunday’s entire Governors Ball lineup, which featured Kanye West, hundreds of thousands of people were upset that they will not be able to see their favorite artists perform in New York City. But, the desperate crowd quickly turned into a scavenger hunt outside of Manhattan’s Webster Hall late last night.

Kanye West Pop Up Concert Goes Wrong

Kanye West announced that he would be performing at Webster Hall but, every time the doors of the night club would open only 20 or so people were allowed entrance into the venue, according to reports. Instead, fans were forced to wait outside until, anxious Kanye groupies “bum rushed forward with no regard for the safety of others.”

This happened at least six times. Every time the crowd blasted forward like an army regiment making a last-ditch effort at conquering an enemy stronghold, several people could be heard fruitlessly shouting warnings that someone would get injured or killed if the crowd didn’t ease up.

Chaos Erupts

By 1 a.m chaos fully erupted on the streets outside Manhattan’s Webster Hall as fans stood on top of cars chanting Pablo! and Kanye, according to reports. The police were then called blocking off the entire block, which quickly shut the party down.

Shortly after 1 a.m. EDT, an hour before the show was supposed to start, West tweeted that the performance was “sold out.” About 45 minutes later, Webster Hall tweeted that there would be no show and told would-be concert-goers to leave.

Kanye tried to talk to NYC officials for an outdoor concert

According to The New York Daily News, Kim Kardashian posted a Snapchat video reportedly showing Kanye West trying to convince New York City officials to give him permission to have a performance outside. Reports suggested that Kanye West eventually went back into his car, where he stood through the sunroof of his car to meet fans.

But, that didn’t stop there. Rumors started circulating on Twitter that Kanye’s company and producer of his shows were going to perform at Trump SoHo. By 3:30 a.m 100 people had formed outside the entrance to Trump SoHo on Spring St. Unfortunately, the city that never sleeps was no longer interested in partying all night with Kanye West.
