The Deuce starring James Franco is now casting newspaper employees in New York City.

Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for African American men to play 1970s Newspaper employees on HBO’s The Deuce. Filming will take place on Tuesday, October 11th in New York City. Producers are looking for talent who are available to attend a fitting on Monday, October 10th.

A casting scam is targeting actors in Chicago’s film industry.

4 Star Casting, the extras casting company behind Empire, The Exorcist and APB,  took to Facebook on Friday to announce that people are pretending they are associated with the casting company and cancelling your bookings. However, this is not true and is a scam.

“Do NOT believe any emails except emails from the designated email addresses that you have been contacted from all year.”

4 Star Casting is announcing to disregard these emails and only pay attention to the official e-mails associated with the casting company, which are also listed below.

Metallica Music Video Open Casting Call

Metallica is holding an open casting call for people to appear in their new music video.

Filming will take place in the Bay area next week and Metallica is looking for fans to be a part of it.

Filming will take place between October 11th through the 12th and casting directors are looking for fans and street fighters to appear in the music video.

Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed in 1981 when vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield responded to an ad posted by drummer Lars Ulrich in a local newspaper. The band has won eight Grammy Awards and five of its albums have consecutively debuted at number one on theBillboard 200. The band’s eponymous 1991 album has sold over 16 million copies in the United States, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. Metallica ranks as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold over 110 million records worldwide.

Here’s How Much Crew Members Really Get Paid

A new report by The Hollywood Reporter reveals the highest paid crew positions in Hollywood.

Want to join the film industry but, you are not interested in becoming an actor, producer, or director? If so, then here are the highest paid job positions in the film industry.

  1. Craft Services $65,000/year
  2. Agent $10,000,000/year
  3. Makeup Artist $79,500/year
  4. Boom (Operator) $80,000/year
  5. Animator $105,000/year
  6. Showrunner $50,000/episode

Meanwhile, many YouTube stars are raking in more money than most actors. For example, according to a leaked TV salaries for many of television’s hit TV shows, most actors earn between $20,000 to $1,000,000 per episode. Meanwhile, YouTube stars such as PewDiePie are earning $20 million a year.

Why Aren’t British Filmmakers Casting Black Actors?

A new report from the British Film Institute, nearly 60 percent of all the movies made in the past 10 years feature zero black actors.

According to the report, 59% of British films made over the last 10 years featured no black actors in named speaking roles. In fact, just 13% of all movies had a black actor in a lead role.

In addition, U.K. has a history of casting the same black actors over the past ten years. As a result, only 15 black actors had played two or more lead roles in British films.

This news should not be that surprising. Idris Elba recently gave a speech to the U.K’s Parliament urging for filmmakers to give Black actors an opportunity in the film industry.  Elba told The Guardian: “I knew I wasn’t going to land a lead role. I knew there wasn’t enough imagination in the industry for me to be seen as a lead. In other words, if I wanted to star in a British drama like Luther, then I’d have to go to a country like America. And the other thing was, because I never saw myself on TV, I stopped watching TV. Instead I just decided to go out and become TV.”

Leaked TV Star Salaries Spark Race Controversy

Leaked TV star salaries illustrate Hollywood’s HUGE pay-gap.

In a new report by Variety, the salaries for Hollywood’s biggest TV actors were revealed to the public and the results are pretty surprising.

Variety, recently surveyed actors, executives, attorneys, and managers in order to get an idea of how much actors are getting paid on television. The results showed that the Big Bang Theory cast were compensated $1,000,000 per episode. Meanwhile, the cast of Empire (not including Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson), which has higher ratings than most TV shows were paid only $20,000 an episode.

The pay gap between white and non-white actors has sparked a controversy. As Newsweek pointed out, “Look at the lower-end of the totem pole and a pattern emerges: many of the actors are minorities and, oddly, many of the names have earned critical acclaim for their roles, but their pay doesn’t seem to be commensurate with their cultural impact.”

For example, Gina Rodriguez is an award winning actress. Her hit TV series Jane the Virgin is a hit and connects to the growing Hispanic demographic in the United States. However, she is only paid $60,000 an episode, which is a far cry from the cast of Modern Family who earn 400% more than Rodriguez. In fact, examining the list of actors’ salaries, non-white actors are constantly listed at the bottom.

Many fans took to Twitter to call out the TV industry’s pay-gap.

Several years ago, many actors strived to land a major motion picture deal. The rise of Netflix and hit dramas such as Breaking Bad, many actors are deciding to work on hit TV shows instead of a feature film. However, when there is a major pay-gap between white and non-white actors, it shows the transition to television still puts African Americans, Hispanics, and other non-white actors at the back of the bus.
