Another Movie Studio May Be Headed to Georgia

Just when you thought George’s film industry was going to slow down and looks as though another studio is headed to the Peach State. According to Savannah Now, a fairground in Savannah, Georgia could be redeveloped into a film and TV soundstage. The 16 acres coastal Empire fair site along bedding street was purchased by the city for $2.9 million last August now local lawmakers have planned to turn the 15 acres of land into a film studio.

According to reports, Rep. Craig Gordon secured $2.5 million in private funding for the project in order to purchase the land and convert it into a TV studio.

As Savannah’s popularity as a filming destination grows, the complex would help the city meet the increased demand for adequate facilities while providing on-site job training and employment opportunities in collaboration with Savannah Tech and Savannah State University, Bowen said.

This news comes after Pinewood Atlanta Studios executives announced in a recent meeting that the studio is currently working at capacity with 18 TV shows and movies filming all at once at their studios. In addition, Pinewood Atlanta Studios announced they have the biggest productions ever with a total of $1 billion spent in production right now.

As a result, Georgia’s film industry could continue to grow and surpass the 42 movies and TV shows filming right now in the state.

Reporter Attacked by a Man in a Hockey Mask

There’re very few things as terrifying as a man in the mask especially in New York City later. ABC 7 news reporter CeFaan Kim was physically attacked by a man wearing a hockey mask of the cameras rolling live. The video was later posted by Kim on Twitter and the man is seen approaching him and putting his arms around the reporter.

“Put the camera on me,” the man is heard saying in the video, before repeatedly yelling, “What’s up?”

That’s when things got physical and the attackers started pushing and tangling with Kim. Kim is now asking the public to reach out to law enforcement if they know the identity of the assaulter and attacker.

“This is the man who attacked me last night during a live broadcast,” Kim tweeted on Saturday. “If anyone has seen him around please give the 7th precinct a call.” That number is (212) 477-7311.

Danielle Bregoli has recently went from an unknown 13-year-old Internet Internet celebrity. Following her appearance on Dr. Phil and her catchphrase “cash me ousside”, she quickly taken over the Internet by storm.

Her new found Internet fame has translated into some serious money for the teenager. In fact, this young girl is now commanding some hefty fees for public appearances. For example, for her appearance at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami Bergoli will make more than $40,000 just for showing up. All she has to do is do a meet and greet closer pictures and probably repeat her catch phrase. Also, the festival will also give her 14th birthday party in which she would get paid to attend that as well as well as receive a portion of the percentage ticket sales.

According to reports, she makes at least $30,000 per appearance. Also, a New York bar offered her $5000 for her appearance, and she laughed at the offer claiming she has so many offers she cannot even keep up with demand. In this new age of Kim Kardashian thing, it seems easy to become famous with a catchphrase and an Instagram page.

After countless auditions, Deadline reports producers were finally able to find the right actor. In fact, the lead role went to an unknown teen actor named Richie Merritt with no acting experience.

“This is something that none of us had done before. We searched all over the U.S., the UK and Australia,” Lesher told Deadline. “We auditioned both real kids, with no experience, and also young actors. It was very important to us that we found someone with the authenticity and similarity in his background (to Wershe).” He said Merritt grew up in similar circumstances in that he had the same socio-economic background and was a white kid in an urban environment. “We all just fell in love with him,” Lesher said. “He has a natural charisma.” [via]

According to Deadline, ‘WHITE BOY RICK’ is the latested feature film to be released by Studio 8 and centers around the true story of Richard Wershe Jr. At the age of 14, Wershe became an undercover informant for local and federal law enforcement agencies in the mid-80s, and grew in that role enough to establish himself as a major drug dealer. He went from being an asset to an eyesore for law enforcement in the drug trafficking wars, and he was brought down in 1988–found with 17 pounds of coke at age 17–and sentenced to life without parole.

Not too much has been revealed about the movie but we do know that it is a comedy and that the plot centers around Taylor Schilling and her 13-year-old niece who desperately wants to become a Juggalo. The movie stars Talyor Schilling (Orange is the New Black) and Jillian Bell (Workaholics).
