Disney Star Committed Suicide After Fighting ISIS: ‘Something happened over there. He saw something”

When news broke that Disney star Michael Mantenuto had committed suicide the entertainment industry was shocked. But many people did not know at the former actor joined the military concert overseas fighting ISIS in both Iraq and in Syria with the US special forces.

While the actor is best known for the movie Miracle about the US hockey team, police found the star in his car in Washington state dead from a gunshot wound. According to the coroner, the University of Maine graduate shot himself in the head. However, his family believes his suicide can be attributed to his time fighting ISIS.

Michael left Hollywood in 2010 to join the US Army’s special forces. During his most recent appointment, he was sent on Operation Inherent Resolve, with the mission of fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq, according to TMZ.

Family members revealed that after he returned from the tour, Mantenuto had changed.

‘Something happened over there. He saw something,’ his family said.

Hollywood Actress Reveals She Makes More Money on Instagram Than From Acting

Actress Busy Philipps has been working in Hollywood for a long time. She first appeared in and got her big break on the hit TV series Freaks and Geeks. She would later join the TV cast of Dawson’s Creek. Since then she’s appeared in several major feature films and TV shows including Cougar Town, The Gift, White Chicks, and Made of Honor.

Most recently, Philipps starred on the HBO TV series Vice Principals. But, the actress admitted that even though she’s constantly working on TV shows and movies she actually makes more money from social media than from acting.

Busy Philipps

In an honest video she posted on Instagram, the actress addressed an article that discussed celebrities and sponsored content, according to reports. She explained that she is not about doing sponsored content on her social media pages

‘But, you know, I gotta be honest with you, I didn’t make a ton of money as an actor last year. I made more of my money doing that kind of stuff, like the partnerships with brands.’

She argues that what she’s doing is not different than what she does as an actress. ‘As a television actor, when we work in TV, what we’re doing is making a product so that networks can sell ad space,’ she explained.

It is important to note that while many famous actors such as Robert Downey Jr. makes hundreds of millions of dollars per year, the average actor makes far less than that. According to a recent report, the median hourly pay of an actor is $22.15 an hour or $52,000/year. This number is extremely important because it is a median, since there are an equal number of actors that make higher and lower. But, this is the most common pay for actors in the film industry.

TNT’s ‘Last Ship’ Goes on Hiatus After Lead Actor Battles Depression

0

Depression is a brain disorder characterized by persistent sad mood or loss of interest in activities, which can cause a significant impairment on a person’s daily life. More than 3 million people within the United States experience some depression. Now one actor’s battle with depression is causing a TV show to go on hold.

You would assume that appearing on a major TV show aired for millions of people around the world would be an amazing feeling and lifestyle. In fact, millions of people would do nearly anything for an opportunity to star in a TV show. But for actor Eric Dane, depression is just too much for the actor to handle.

According to Variety, Eric Dane’s hit TV series The Last Ship is now on a production hiatus due to Dane’s depression.

“Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues,” a rep for Dane tells Variety. “He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request. He looks forward to returning.”

According to an insider, “The Last Ship” team recently returned from a two-week spring hiatus, so with this additional halt, production will have been shut down for quite some time. However, “The Last Ship” has already been renewed for Season 4 and Season 5, each consisting of 10 episodes, and both seasons are shooting back-to-back. Per our sources, the fourth season is already wrapped and the fifth season is being shot now — so the Season 4 premiere should not be pushed back at all by this production delay. The fifth season is slated to premiere in summer 2018.

The Last Ship centers around a Navy destroyer ship and the crew following a global catastrophe that nearly kills the world’s entire population. It is currently one of TNT’s most popular TV shows with over 7 million viewers per episode.

Dane has had a long history working in Hollywood. He had a major role on the hit ABC TV series Grey’s Anatomy. But, the actor has been quite open about his personal issues. In 2011, the actor entered a 30-day rehab program after battling an addiction to painkillers.

Writers Guild Calls Reality Shows “High-Status Sweatshops”

0

The Writers Guild of America, East and nonfiction TV writers-producers testified on Tuesday at a public hearing, revealing what it is like to work on reality television and calling it as a “high-status sweatshops.”

According to TheWrap, Lowell Peterson, Executive Director of the Writers Guild of America, East, explained how the reality TV show industry works.

“Perhaps worst of all, there is plenty of money in this industry to solve the problems of long hours, low pay, and scant benefits.  The television networks that distribute these shows make enormous amounts of money from advertising and from fees they negotiate with cable companies.  Unfortunately, audiences and elected officials are simply unaware of the awful working conditions and therefore the TV networks have felt no pressure to make changes.”

Peterson went on to explain that the pressure to deliver shows on time and on budget TV networks makes it difficult for people working on the show to take time off, say no to overtime, or even complain about unsafe working conditions.

“The freelance, gig-to-gig nature of employment also scares APs into keeping their heads down and their mouths shut; after all, if you get a reputation as someone who stands up for your basic rights, you simply won’t get hired for the next gig.””

The public hearing was held by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs’ Office of Labor Policy & Standards (OLPS), alongside the New York City Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) and the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) to discuss how thousands of reality TV show workers are being treated in the NYC industry.

Peterson went on to discuss how many employees are working 12 to 14 hours a day and earning less than $15 an hour without any benefits. In addition, it was revealed that production companies would illegally fill in time cards for employees and make them work longer than 8-hours a day and also on the weekend without compensation.

Austin Powers 4 is Reportedly Coming Soon

As been over a decade since Austin Powers was last seen in theaters, however, the international man of mystery and his crazy costars are still pop culture icons. Now, 15 years later a new Austin Powers movie may be headed to theaters sooner than you think.

The film’s director Jay Roach expressed his desire to bring Austin Powers back to the big screen. While talking with The Hollywood Reporter about the legacy of the Austin Powers trilogy, Roach confirmed that he and Mike Myers have spoken about a potential fourth movie.

So what took so long? Apparently, the two decided not to make another movie until they had a perfect idea.

“We have also always said we don’t want to do it unless we came up with something that lived up to the concepts in our mind. Until Mike feels like he has a concept that earns a fourth, it won’t happen. But if it did, we have all agreed that we would be delighted to get back into it.”

Rumors of a fourth Austin Powers movie goes as far back as 2011, but nothing concrete has ever materialized outside of speculation.

It is important to note that Myers wrote the first film in remembrance and tribute to his father. He and his father loved watching spy movies, and after his father died in 1991, he decided to write a film in remembrance of him. That said, Myers is cautious in the direction of the franchise and takes the franchise very personally.

“I would love to do another, but you just have to see. I was devastated by my father’s death. But to have that turn into something that makes people happy is unbelievably satisfying. It’s that kind of stuff you never get used to or get tired of.”
