Queen Sugar is an upcoming drama TV series, created, directed and executive produced by Ava DuVernay alongside Oprah Winfrey. The series is based on novel with same name by Natalie Baszile. Queen Sugar follows the life of two sisters, Nova Bordelon (playing by Rutina Wesley), the formidable journalist and activist from New Orleans, and Charley Bordelon (Dawn-Lyen Gardner), a modern woman, who, with her teenage daughter Micah, leaves her upscale apartment in Los Angeles and moves to the heart of Louisiana to claim an inheritance from her recently departed father – an 800-acre sugarcane farm.

FOX’s New TV Pilot ‘The Passage’ is Now Hiring in Atlanta

Fox is now hiring film jobs including photo doubles, stand-ins, and extras in Atlanta for the new TV pilot The Passage.

Central Casting is now casting actors, models, and talent to work on the new Fox TV pilot The Passage as it films across Atlanta, Georgia including Union City, Stone Mountain, Braselton, and Atlanta. 

According to the casting call, “A large portion of the background roles will be hand selected by the Directors, plus there will be many stand-in and photo double roles as well.”

Central Casting is looking for registered members in the company’s database to bee seen and selected for this production. If you have already registered by attending a previous open casting call or registration session, then you do not need to re-register.

According to Deadline, The Passage is Fox’s latest drama pilot from Liz Heldens, Matt Reeves and Scott Free and in partnership with 20th Century Fox TV. Marcos Siega will direct the pilot after “securing permission for him to do the project from Warner Bros. TV, where he is under an overall deal, serving as  director/executive producer on new ABC series Time After Time after directing the pilot.”

The TV series is written by the Heldens and centers on a government conspiracy thriller with vampires. The series will span over a hundred years and center around a young girl named Amy who mast save the human race.”

Hollywood’s Biggest Summer Movies All Filmed Outside of California

Los Angeles used to be a haven for movie magic. However, this summer’s biggest-budget feature films did not shoot in Hollywood.

Despite a significant effort by Los Angeles and state government officials, producers are deciding to make their big budget movies outside of Hollywood. Why? Film productions can get better tax breaks and subsidies.

In fact, Warner Bros. shot Wonder Woman and King Arthur in Britain. Twenty-First Century Fox Inc’s movie studio chose to film Alien: Covenant in Australia. Meanwhile, Disney’s Marvel Studios moved its cameras to Georgia for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, which is one of six superhero movies that has filmed near Atlanta.

“The support we get in Georgia is tremendous,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in an interview. “We’re certainly doing many of our biggest films there well through this year and into next year.”

It is important to note, that nearly three decades ago, virtually all big-budget movies filmed in Los Angeles, California. However, to build an entertainment industry, locations across the United States and around the world have launched tax credits of up to 40 percent of local production spending, which an add up to a lot of money especially considering some movies cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make.

32 states and several foreign countries currently offer tax credits and other benefits to producers. In fact, the former Soviet state of Georgia provides producers opportunities to blow up old buildings.

“We have many derelict, abandoned small villages or factories. They are mostly state-owned still, and you can easily just blow (them) up,” said Sophie Bendiashvili, head of the country’s film rebate program, at a conference last month hosted by the Association of Film Commissioners International.

That said, California is working hard to bring back their dying film industry. In 2014, the state increased their film tax incentives.  Currently, California offers a 20 percent film tax credit for movies, applicable to $100 million in spending

Many TV shows moved to Los Angeles. For example, Dwayne Johnson’s HBO series Ballers moved from Miami to Los Angeles after securing a tax break from California. The action star said he wants to film his major movies in California as well.

“On the TV side, the incentives are fantastic,” Johnson said in an interview. “On the film side, there is a lot of room for improvement.”

Now, Johnson’s latest movie Baywatch shot scenes on Tybee Island, Georgia and in parts of Atlanta, with the help of tax credits. Since business is booming in Georgia, Georgia companies have developed state-of-the-art production facilities. “You have to think of these productions as three-legged stools,” said Mary Ann Hughes, Disney’s vice president of film production planning. “You need a local crew base, local infrastructure, and the production incentives.”  

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time received $18 million credit for spending $85 million, and an untitled Paramount movie was awarded $22 million for spending $102 million. But, for many major motion pictures, it is financially irresponsible to film in Los Angeles.

Clint Eastwood is Filming His Next Movie in Georgia

Clint Eastwood‘s ‘The 15:17 to Paris’ will film in Georgia this summer.

Academy Award-winning actor, filmmaker, and director, Clint Eastwood, is headed back to Atlanta, Georgia to film his next movie. After filming Sully, American Sniper and Trouble with a Curve in Atlanta, Clint Eastwood, will now film his new movie ‘The 15:17 to Paris’ in Georgia.

According to Come Tour Georgia, Clint Eastwood and Warner Bros.’ new movie started production in Georgia this May. Based on the true story, “The 15:17 to Paris” tells the story of three American soldiers who stopped a terrorist plot on a train bound for Paris. The film is based on the book by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern. Dorothy Blyskal will write the script, according to Variety.

This movie is following the director’s recent interest in real life heroes following American Sniper and Sully, both of which were two of his biggest box office hits.

Carlyn Davis Casting is looking for non-union talent for a commercial shoot in the DC Metro Area on Saturday, June 3, 2017. There will be an audition on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 and a call back on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 – both in Northern, VA.

‘Get Out’ Alternative Ending is Crazier Than the Original One

Jordan Peele’s Get Out is one the year’s most talked about movies. Peele has been praised for his creative directorial debut.

At the end of Get Out, Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) ends up killing the family of his girlfriend, Rose (Alison Williams), as he attempts to escape their clothes before he becomes the latest victim of their Coagula experiment.

Chris ultimately survives because he’s picked up by his friend Rod, who is played by Lil Res Howery.

But now there is an alternative ending for the film, which likely leaked from the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD.

The alternative ending, which has been posted on Slate and other media outlets, is a lot more realistic of what would happen to a black man in Chris’s situation.

In the alternative ending, Rod does not save Chris. It is two white cops, who immediately arrest him.

Then Rod, who seems to be doing everything in his power to help Chris get out of jail, goes to visit him. But it seems Chris can’t remember the important details of what happened to prove self-defense.

In one part of the scene, Rod and Chris acknowledge it is impossible for him to get out of jail, and he hangs up the phone.

Chris ends up accepting his fate.

The clip ends with Chris being escorted back to his cell, accused of doing something he technically did not do.

In a recent interview on The Talking Dead With Chris Hardwick, Peele explained that he had written several endings and that one particular one would be on the Blu-ray/DVD. In fact, Peele told Chris Hardwick that the original ending, “left people wanting something different.” Peele was glad that he was able to get enough money to reshoot the final scene that he “knew would really work.”

Are Dwayne Johnson and Tom Hanks Really Running for President?

Dwayne Johnson announced on Saturday Night Live that he is running for president alongside Tom Hanks.

Rumors of Dwayne Johnson running for public office all started after an interview with GQ magazine where he was asked if he would consider running for public office. “I think that’s a real possibility,” he said.

That said, a recent study by public Policy Polling earlier this month revealed The Rock had a favorability rating of 36%. While, only 13% of voters had a negative view of the wrestler. In a race against Donald Trump, researchers found Johnson would lead the president 42% to 37%, winning over 15% of people who voted for Trump last year.

“I mean, I’ve been in two movies where the plane crashes and people are still excited to see me in their flights,” Hanks pointed out.

“Now I’m actually worried I’m too qualified,” Johnson said, in a not-so-subtle dig at President Donald Trump.

“Tom, together I think we’re unstoppable,” he added.

Tom Hanks pointed out that together, they will be able to hit all of the target demographics. “I would get the seniors’ vote because I fought in World War II in, like, ten different movies.”

“And I, of course, would get the minority vote because everyone just assumes that I’m, well, whatever they are,” Johnson added.

“When it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise,” Johnson said, testing out a campaign slogan he first mentioned on The Tonight Show last week. “Americans deserve strong capable leaders.”
