Emmy Rossum Reveals She Was Asked To Audition In A Bikini To Prove She Wasn’t “Fat Now”

Emmy Rossum is one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood. Starring in the hit Showtime series Shameless, Rossum showcases her acting skills without batting an eye. But, imagine you had the chance to star in a summer blockbuster movie and all you had to do to get the part was show up in the director’s office wearing a bikini? Nevermind that your character never appears in a bikini in the movie, or how you look in a bikini has nothing to do with your acting talent? Would you do it?

According to Rossum, less than a year ago, the actress who plays Fiona Gallagher on Showtime’s Shameless, alongside William H. Macy, shared the story with fellow actresses during a comedy roundtable for The Hollywood Reporter.

“My agent called me and was like, ‘I’m so embarrassed to make this call, but there’s a big movie and they’re going to offer it to you. They really love your work on the show. But the director wants you to come into his office in a bikini. There’s no audition. That’s all you have to do.'”

Apparently, the director wanted to know if she was fat.

“He wanted to know if I was fat now. And I actually had this moment like, ‘Well, how good is the part?’ For a second, I was like, ‘Would I do it? Send me the script. Maybe the character is in a bikini in the movie.'”

Russum was just another actress getting treated poorly by Hollywood’s dark underbelly.

“‘We really love your work, but we just want to see how tight your ass is.’ “Are you ****ing kidding me? Last time I checked, I’m not a ****ing model.”

Rossum turned down the request but, as a working actress she can afford to say no. But what about other aspiring aspiring actresses out there?

“If somebody with my years in the business would think, ‘Well, I wonder if it’s worth it,’ then what would a girl who doesn’t have my success do? She would do it.”

‘John Wick’ TV Series Coming Soon

0

It looks like John Wick is headed to the small screen. Indiewire broke the news and released some details about the upcoming TV series. Lionsgate is the production company behind the series and it will be called The Continental, the name is taken from the hotel where the universe’s hitmen and assassins stay. In addition, the show will not necessarily focus on John Wick but will focus on different characters, according to executive producer Chad Stahelski.

“They’ve got a really good structure. It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool. I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive. […] It’s something that studio seems very, very intent on [making] and very, very behind… You can be with the consigliere, concierge, the sommelier — you can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited [from exploring] by staying with my lead guy.”

As for the action scenes, Stahelski compares it to the Game of Thrones.

“Look at ‘Battle of the Bastards’. As an action designer, I think that’s the best battle I’ve ever seen on TV. They did a great job, and they weren’t careless with their money. They planned it, they boarded it — you watch the behind-the-scenes, [it’s clear] the guys did everything right. Granted, they’re the biggest budgeted show on TV right now, but could we do something interesting with John Wick with what we have? Yeah. I’d like to give it a go and prove to the TV world that you can have feature action on a TV show. It would be a nice little feather in my cap, sure.”

No word yet on the release date or what channel it will appear on.

“Hot Felon” Jeremy Meeks’ Modeling Career is On Fire

Hot Felon turned model, Jeremy Meeks, continues his modeling career by walking in the Philipp Plein Sport fashion show at Milan Fashion week.

Meeks has proven that convicted felons can turn their life around when they are given an opportunity, a job, and a promising career.

On Sunday, Meeks, who rose to fame after his mug shot went viral in 2014, walked in the Philipp Plein Sport show in Milan. Despite having stumbled into the fashion industry, the father of three looked to have had years of experience on the runway.

The Stockton, California native completed his look with a matching set of sneakers and a simple pendant necklace.

In 2014, Jeremy became famous when his mug shot was posted to the Stockton Police Department Facebook page and received over a 100,000 likes. Having come from a fatherless home and a mother who gave him up for adoption at the age of 10, Jeremy’s life of crime most certainly roots with his backstory.

In 2013, Jeremy was given 27 months of prison time on weapons charges, according to reports, and was released in March 2016. With his newfound success, the father of three, has surely been able to provide a proper living for his wife Melissa.

The model has since become a favorite of designer Philipp, who gave the mugshot model his debut in February during New York Fashion Week.

4 Things You Did Not Know You Should Do During an Audition

Memorizing lines is tough. But, acting those lines out can be even tougher. For example, what if the scene you are auditioning for is a fight scene and all of the dialogue is mixed with punches, tackling or using weapons? How do you approach the scene? Do you jump around during your audition or do you let your voice do the acting? This week several working actors discussed their techniques and how they win over the casting director during their auditions.

Reenact the real world

I think what’s most important is how you react to situations like this. For instance, I had an audition once that involved a kiss. Now I wasn’t going to pucker my lips and kiss the thin air. So I just closed my eyes a second put my hand over my heart, took a deep breath in, and experienced a moment of lightness that you experience when you have a kiss.

The CD actually complimented that action, because I guess she’d spent all day watching people pucker up and kiss the air.

Less is More

What I hear people tell me is that less is more. The purpose of an audition generally isn’t to see if you can fake a punch or etc. Plus if a CD is watching 200 self-tapes a day, they’ll get tired real quick of watching people do similar physical business that doesn’t inform you about the actor’s abilities.

Be selective

Be selective with movement. Only allow what might inform the dialogue – think of how the character might feel physically (breath, energy level, pain). Avoid miming as much as possible. If the role requires a lot of physicalities or fight training think of adding a short “routine” to the beginning or end of your taping. Many action actors add a routine to their tapings to showcase their skills. 10-15 seconds max. Best of luck!

Use your time effectively

It depends on the specifics of the scene but I’d say go full on if you have enough time. If you feel you can confidently incorporate a bit of fight choreography WITH a partner without detracting from the text DO IT. Switch it up with a wide shot everyone and again. The majority of people are probably going to stick to the text without much movement involved if they haven’t specified in the tape brief to leave the physical actions out they probably want to see how far you’re willing to go (they could have given you a simpler scene but they didn’t) Surprise them. After hours of watching the same old Schtick casting directors will at the very least perk up with something different and just tell you to tone it down next time or give you a more static scene the next time if they like you enough.

Tom Holland Reveals His Weirdest Audition

0

Tom Holland may be heading into theaters as Marvel and Sony’s new Peter Parker in the Atlanta-filmed movie Spider-Man: Homecoming – but as a working actor, he still has to make other movies. Sadly, there’s one movie he won’t be apart of, and it could be because of this bizarre audition.

“Often we do strange things for auditions, but I think your audition might be the strangest thing I’ve ever been asked [to do],” Holland told Andy Serkis.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show with Andy Serkis, Holland was asked about the time he auditioned for one of Serkis’ films. The movie does not say which film, but it looks to be The Jungle Book, which Serkis is directing and co-starring in as Baloo. Despite Holland prepared for the audition beforehand, it sounds like he wasn’t prepared for the surprise Serkis threw his way, pretend to be a wolf.

“I did the scene…and [Serkis] said, ‘Thank you, that was great. Now do it as a wolf,’” Holland said. “I’m like, ‘Okay.’ So all I did was this.”

Even though Holland didn’t land a role in the movie, Serkis did tell Holland that his audition was “brilliant.”

Wrigley Gum Commercial Chicago Casting Call ($1500/Day + Plus Residuals)

0

Wrigley Gum Commercial casting call in Chicago, Illinois.

O’Connor Casting is now casting women who are 70 years old and older who have a “regret” about not doing something adventurous when they were younger. This is a non-union project and talents will be compensated $1,500.00 for a shoot day and usage of the material for 1 year. If needed for more than one shoot day, you will be compensated an additional $500.00 per day. If usage goes beyond 1 year, you will receive an additional payment of $1,000.00 per year for each additional year used for online usage.

To audition for a role in the upcoming commercial, check out the casting call breakdown below.

Wrigley Gum Commercial Casting Call

We are looking for SEVERAL CHICAGO LAND area LADIES who are 70+ years old who have a “REGRET(S)” about NOT doing something adventurous when they were younger. The regret should be about something ‘action’ oriented, for example: a blown chance to jump out of a plane and skydive; not running with the Bulls in Pamplona; a missed opportunity to drive an F1 sports car in her hometown; not getting to bungee jump out of a hot air balloon; never climbing Mt. Everest. YOU WILL NOT be required to live out this adventure, but we will want to learn what regret(s) you have.

THIS IS A NON-UNION PROJECT. The usage for this project is initially scheduled for Online use only.

Compensation, if selected, is $1,500.00 for a shoot day and usage of the material for 1 year. If needed for more than one shoot day, you will be compensated an additional $500.00 per day. If usage goes beyond 1 year, you will receive additional payment of $1,000.00 per year for each additional year used for online usage.

There is potential usage for broadcast as well if this advertisement performs well online. If this does occur the project would fall under a SAG/AFTRA project and you would be paid Union rates according to the contract. AND THAT WOULD BE JUST AWESOME as you would get additional residuals and payments.

DATES YOU NEED TO BE AVAILABLE:

CASTING INTERVIEW DATES: Wed. 6/21

SHOOT DATES: TBD Sometime in July

SHOOT LOCATION: Chicago, IL
