Disney plans to release Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” as one film with production expected to begin later this summer in Atlanta, Georgia. Avengers: Infinity War is the upcoming sequel to The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2018. Details surrounding the new Avengers movie have not been released. Corey Hawkins is one of Hollywood and Broadway’s biggest stars. The actor has appeared in several hit feature films including 24: Legacy, Kong: Skull Island and on Broadway with Six Degrees of Separation. Also, Hawkins was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the revival of Six Degrees of Separation.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawkins reveals why he returned to Broadway during his big-screen success and his acting techniques.
He explains, “I grew up a theater nerd — I actually grew up singing in the church first, that was my first love — and then in high school I was in musical theater and then, of course, they cut it due to funding, and then I ended up going into straight theater at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in D.C. I just think there’s something about coming back to the stage, man, just sharpening that tool and keeping that muscle firing, you know what I mean? And this character is one of those that’s sort of like a gymnast or an acrobat or an athlete — like, he’s a different guy in every scene — and I just thought it would be fun to do that right after coming off of a TV show. Fun, or scary as hell, and why not do it if you know if it scares you? So I just wanted to challenge myself and see where it took me, and I feel like a lucky guy.”
When asked about his acting technique, Hawkins explains that he approaches roles at different angles. “The fun of it and the challenge of it is to take the play — to take the text — and make it your own, to find it your own way.” He continues, “It’s like jazz — you take it and you lift it and each character’s an instrument. You just kind of bring your own thing to it and every night. No only is Ben Affleck no longer directing the next Batman film, his script for the film has apparently been canceled too. The movie’s new director, Matt Reeves, said the other day on MTV’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast that they scrapping everything and starting from the beginning. The Walking Dead stuntman has reportedly died after falling 25 feet off a balcony. According to TMZ, the stunt-man was bleeding from his head and nose after the impact.
John Bernecker, a stuntman in the film industry, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center on Wednesday. The incident took place on The Walking Dead’s set in Georgia, and Bernecker was rushed to the hospital where he was being treated in the ICU.
Bernecker has worked on several major hit movies including Dwayne Johnson’s Rampage, Marvel’s Black Panther and Escape Plan 2. He has over 90 stunt credits, spanning over an eight-year career, according to his IMDB page.
AMC has temporarily halted production of The Walking Dead Season 8 after the incident. Also, AMC issued a statement on the subject to Deadline.
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” AMC’s statement said. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
There is no word yet on when filming will resume. However, the AMC series is headed to San Diego Comic Con next weekend, where it will likely make some major announcements about the next season, in addition to releasing the first official trailer for Season 8.
