Jeremy Renner is Back at Work in Atlanta After Injuring Both Arms

Jeremy Renner recently injured both of his arms in an accident on the set of the new movie Tag. Now, according to Just Jared, the actor is back at work on the film. The 46-year-old actor was spotted filming for the upcoming movie on Monday, July 17th in Atlanta.

Filming won’t be affected by Jeremy’s injuries and he has been able to keep up with all of his press duties including a recent trip to Prague and an appearance at the ESPYs, despite the injury.

The film is based on a true story featured in the Wall Street Journal about a group of friends who have been playing a no-holds-barred version of the children’s game Tag for the last 30 years. The movie features Jeremy Renner, Hannibal Burress, Ed Helms and Tracy Morgan.

20th Century Fox’s new movie The Hate U Give is still accepting submissions.

Have a Movie Idea? These Hollywood Producers Want to Fund Your Next Movie

Mark and Jay Duplass have a long history in Hollywood. The Duplass Brothers Productions have produced and directed movies such as The Puffy Chair (2005), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), and The Do-Deca-Pentathlon(2012). Mark and Jay co-created the HBO television series Togetherness in 2015.

Now the production team wants to help fund your next movie. Five winners of a new contest from crowd funding platform Seed&SPark will have their narrative feature executive produced by the Duplass Brothers and receive up to $25,000 in cash for production.

As a way to support new and creative storytelling, the Hometown Heroes contest challenges filmmakers from all over the United States to tell stories that are unique to their region. It is open for submissions today through August 25. 

To receive funding, you must run a crowdfunding campaign on Seed&Spark that obtains at least 500 followers by the contest end date.

Also to contributing $25,000 to your finished campaign, the Duplass brothers will join the five winning projects as executive producers. Winners will also receive a 16TB hard drive from G-Tech and various other prizes based on the film’s locality, such as a 10% matching production grant from St. Petersburg Clearwater Film Commission.

Eligible crowd funding campaigns should run between September 12 and October 13 on Seed&Spark. If you are a finalist, you’ll have 10 days to prepare a 30-second video pitch to the Duplass brothers. Winners will be announced on November 1. Enter here.

Georgia’s Film Industry Generated an Economic Impact of Nearly $10 Billion This Year!

Earlier this month, Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Georgia filmed movies and TV shows generated an economic impact of nearly $10 billion during the fiscal year 2017. The 320 feature film and TV productions shot in Georgia account for $2.7 billion in direct spending in the state.

“Georgia’s film industry supports thousands of jobs, boosts small business growth and expands offerings for tourists,” said Deal. “As one of the top places in the world for film, Georgia hosted a remarkable 320 film and television productions during the last fiscal year. These productions mean new economic opportunities and real investments in local communities. We are committed to further establishing Georgia as a top film destination and introducing film companies to the Camera Ready backdrops available across Georgia.”

Moreover, Georgia has increased the amount of infrastructure growth for the film industry with a new studio, which will allow for the film industry to continue to grow in Georgia.

“Literally hundreds of new businesses have relocated or expanded in Georgia to support this burgeoning industry – creating jobs for Georgians as well as economic opportunities for communities and small businesses,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Commissioner Pat Wilson. “Although these support services companies cannot claim the tax credits, they directly benefit from the increased amount of work in the state, and the fact that the savings from the Film Tax Credit are typically reinvested in the project, creating additional economic impact and activity for these Georgia-based businesses.”

On-Location Filming in Los Angeles Continues to Fall

On location filming in Los Angeles continues to fall.

According to Deadline, show cancellations and fewer feature films and TV pilots shot in Los Angeles have hurt on-location film production in the city.

FilmLA issued a report and found the following stats:

  • Feature film production dropped 18.5%
  • TV pilot production dropped 60.4%
  • TV drama production plunged 24.3%
  • Web-based TV production dropped 21.8%
  • TV comedies fell 9%
  • TV reality production dropped 1%

That said, overall on-location shooting in Greater Los Angeles was down 4.7% for the quarter, thanks to a 12.5% increase in shooting days for commercials and a 7% increase in “other” productions such as student films, public service announcements, industrial videos, still photography and adult films.

FilmLA said that the huge drop in TV pilot production mirror the findings in its upcoming 2017 Pilot Study, which shows fewer pilots were ordered by networks over the last year. As a result, “production centers from L.A. to New York saw declines in the category.”
