Final Season of ‘Stranger Things’ Completes Filming in Atlanta

Production for the final season of Netflix’s hit series, Stranger Things, has officially wrapped in Atlanta. Filming took place at Cinespace Studios Atlanta, formerly known as EUE Screen Gems, where the show’s journey began over nine years ago.

The highly anticipated fifth season, consisting of eight episodes, was in production for most of 2024. Although Netflix has not announced an exact release date, the new episodes are slated for a 2025 debut. The season’s timeline will jump to the fall of 1987, about six months after the events of Season 4.

A Look Back at Production Challenges

Season 4 of Stranger Things premiered in May 2022, but delays pushed back the start of Season 5 production. Both the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023 contributed to these setbacks, prolonging the show’s return.

The younger cast members, who were preteens when the series began in 2015, are now in their early 20s but continue to portray high school characters. The narrative picks up in Hawkins, where the town remains plagued by the chaos unleashed by the Upside Down. At the close of Season 4, Max (Sadie Sink) was revived by Eleven after being attacked by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) but remained comatose.

Emotional Farewell to a Beloved Series

Actor David Harbour shared a glimpse of the cast’s emotional connection to the series. During a table read for the finale in October, he described moments of uncontrollable tears as the cast processed the end of the story.

Netflix has also revealed the episode titles for the final season: “The Crawl,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”

Legacy of Stranger Things

Since its debut, Stranger Things has become one of Netflix’s most successful shows. The Duffer Brothers, the series’ creators, received significant creative freedom throughout the production, which contributed to its long gaps between seasons. Their vision, combined with the show’s compelling storytelling, has cemented its status as a cultural phenomenon.

As fans await the final chapter, Stranger Things leaves a legacy of groundbreaking television that captured the imagination of audiences worldwide.

Neil Cavuto’s Departure from Fox News: Why It Matters for Viewers

In the world of media and politics, changes at the helm of major platforms often carry significant implications. Neil Cavuto’s departure from Fox News, where he has been a key presence for 28 years, marks one such shift.

Cavuto, known for hosting “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” and “Cavuto Live,” has been a rare critical voice against former President Donald Trump within the Fox News lineup. While a Fox News insider stated that Cavuto’s exit was unrelated to Trump’s potential 2024 campaign and was simply a matter of his contract ending, the timing raises questions.

A Voice of Accountability

Cavuto earned a reputation for holding powerful figures accountable, including Trump. In October, he publicly criticized Trump for spreading misinformation about federal disaster responses. He later interrupted a live broadcast of a Trump rally to fact-check the former president’s false claims about the 2020 election.

“We’re monitoring the president’s remarks,” Cavuto said at the time. “But even though the former president is entitled to his opinions, he’s not entitled to his own set of facts.”

Such moments have been increasingly rare in a media landscape where many outlets avoid direct confrontation with misinformation. Cavuto’s departure leaves a noticeable gap in this kind of balanced critique, especially at a network often seen as leaning heavily toward Trump.

Broader Media Dynamics

Cavuto’s exit comes amid a series of developments involving Trump and the media. ABC News recently settled a $15 million lawsuit with Trump over a defamation claim, a move that legal experts say could set a chilling precedent. Similarly, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post, appears to have softened his stance toward Trump, with Amazon donating $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund and The Post dropping its endorsement policies after the 2020 election.

These actions underscore the complex and sometimes contradictory relationship between media outlets and political figures. Trump, who has filed numerous lawsuits against media organizations, remains a dominant and contentious figure in the media landscape.

What’s Next for Fox News?

Cavuto is expected to address his departure on his final show Thursday. Until a new program debuts in 2025, a rotating cast of anchors will fill his time slots. However, his absence raises concerns about the diminishing number of voices willing to challenge misinformation and hold leaders accountable.

At a time when political narratives often overshadow objective reporting, the loss of a seasoned journalist like Cavuto is significant. His willingness to speak truth to power was a rarity in today’s media, and his departure leaves viewers wondering who, if anyone, will step into his role.

As the media adjusts to this new chapter, one thing is clear: fewer

Can You Watch ‘Beast Games’ on YouTube?

Despite MrBeast’s fame as a YouTube content creator, “Beast Games” is not available on YouTube. It is exclusively streaming on Prime Video.

Controversy Surrounding ‘Beast Games’

Even before its release, “Beast Games” faced backlash as several contestants filed a lawsuit against MrBeast and Amazon, alleging workplace abuse. Claims include unsafe working conditions, denial of food and sleep, and harassment during production. The class-action lawsuit also accuses the production of misclassifying contestants as volunteers to secure tax benefits while filming in Las Vegas. Additional allegations include physical injuries, inadequate medical care, and a “culture of misogyny and sexism.”

A spokesperson for MrBeast addressed the situation, citing logistical challenges and extreme weather as factors complicating production. Both MrBeast and Amazon have yet to respond to the recent allegations.

Who is MrBeast?

James Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is a 26-year-old YouTube superstar renowned for his extravagant competitions and giveaways. Rising to fame in 2017 with a viral video of himself counting to 100,000, MrBeast has since amassed a record-breaking 337 million subscribers, making his channel the most-subscribed on YouTube.

His 2021 recreation of “Squid Game,” featuring 456 contestants competing for a $456,000 prize, remains his most-viewed video with over 678 million views. Now, with “Beast Games,” he’s expanding his influence into the realm of streaming television.

Final Thoughts

“Beast Games” is shaping up to be a must-watch series for fans of high-stakes competition and adrenaline-pumping challenges. With weekly episodes rolling out through mid-February, Prime Video subscribers have plenty to look forward to. However, the show’s legal controversies have added a layer of intrigue and scrutiny to its debut. Will “Beast Games” live up to the hype? Tune in to find out.

Box Office Showdown: ‘Sonic 3’ Set to Outpace ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ as Holiday Season Begins

As the year draws to a close, the box office gears up for an eventful holiday season, though overall revenue remains behind 2023’s post-pandemic and post-strike recovery pace. While the year-end lineup isn’t as packed as usual—with no Star Wars or Avatar films on the slate—Hollywood remains optimistic about holiday cheer translating into ticket sales.

The action kicks off on December 20, with Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King both premiering domestically. Rated PG, these films have strong family appeal, a critical advantage during the festive season.

Sonic 3 Leads the Pack

Sonic 3, part of the hit franchise from Paramount and Sega, is expected to dominate with an estimated $60 million opening weekend, with some predictions reaching $70 million. Meanwhile, Mufasa is projected to debut at $50 million. Both films will also launch internationally.

The holiday season is known for extended daily earnings, as every day feels like a weekend leading up to New Year’s Day. While Star Wars has set records during this period, other titles, including Avatar and its sequel, relied on longevity rather than massive openings to achieve their historic box office success.

Sonic’s Winning Formula

Directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic 3 sees the return of familiar faces, including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, and Idris Elba, along with new additions like Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. The plot follows Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails as they face a powerful new adversary, forcing them to form an unlikely alliance to save the planet.

Critics have embraced the film, praising Reeves’ casting, which helped boost its franchise-best Rotten Tomatoes score to 88%, compared to 64% and 68% for its predecessors.

Mufasa’s Origin Story

Directed by Barry Jenkins with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mufasa: The Lion King serves as a prequel, exploring the bond between young cubs Mufasa and Taka. Their friendship faces a critical test when a new threat emerges, setting them on an adventure that shapes their destinies.

Blending live-action techniques with photorealistic CGI, the film features a star-studded voice cast, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Mads Mikkelsen. Early reviews are mixed, with a 60% Rotten Tomatoes score, though it fares better than 2019’s The Lion King, which grossed over $1 billion globally.

Holiday Highlights

Other films joining the holiday race include A24’s The Brutalist, which held advanced screenings in Imax on December 18 before expanding to select theaters from December 20-22. On Christmas Day, Focus Features releases Nosferatu, a vampire fantasy starring Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård, expected to open in the $15–$20 million range.

Several awards contenders are also leveraging the long holiday weekend, including Timothée Chalamet’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and Nicole Kidman’s Babygirl from A24, both premiering on December 25. Meanwhile, Disney’s Moana 2 and Universal’s Wicked, Thanksgiving hits, are expected to keep cash registers ringing.

Industry Outlook

Disney continues its box office dominance, surpassing $2 billion in domestic ticket sales and $5 billion globally in 2024. Universal follows with over $1.7 billion domestically. Despite a 4.6% dip in domestic revenue compared to 2023, end-of-year numbers are improving, with North American revenue forecasted to reach $8.6–$8.8 billion.

Globally, 2024 is projected to close at $30.5 billion, down from 2023’s $34 billion. Analysts predict a rebound in 2025, with global revenue expected to climb to $33 billion.

Courteney Cox Returns as Gale Weathers for Scream 7

0

Takeaways:

  • Courteney Cox is the only actor to appear in all seven Scream films.
  • Scream 7 is set to release on February 27, 2026.
  • The film marks Neve Campbell’s return and the directorial debut of original screenwriter Kevin Williamson.
  • Casting shakeups include departures of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.
  • Patrick Dempsey and Isabel May are rumored to join the cast.

Courteney Cox Back in Action as Gale Weathers

Courteney Cox has officially signed on to reprise her iconic role as Gale Weathers in Scream 7. Known for her sharp wit and tenacious spirit, Gale Weathers has been a fan-favorite character since her debut in Wes Craven’s 1996 original Scream. With this appearance, Cox becomes the only actor to feature in all seven installments of the beloved horror franchise.

The official confirmation came through the Scream franchise’s social media accounts, sharing the news originally reported by Variety. Fans have eagerly awaited Cox’s return, particularly after the sixth film broke away from the franchise’s tradition by not including Neve Campbell, who had portrayed Sidney Prescott, the franchise’s central character, in previous films.

Neve Campbell’s Triumphant Return

While Cox maintained her streak with Scream VI, Neve Campbell made headlines for her absence, citing disputes over compensation as her reason for stepping away. However, fans were thrilled when Campbell confirmed her return for Scream 7. Not only does this bring the legacy cast back together, but it also signals a return to the series’ roots under the creative guidance of Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter, who will direct for the first time in the franchise.

Joining Campbell is Yellowstone actress Isabel May, who will portray Sidney Prescott’s daughter. This development adds an exciting new layer to the storyline, blending the legacy of Sidney’s character with a fresh perspective.

Major Casting Shakeups

The Scream franchise has seen its fair share of casting drama over the past year. Melissa Barrera, who starred as Sam Carpenter in the fifth and sixth films, was fired in late 2023 following her comments regarding geopolitical events. Shortly thereafter, Jenna Ortega, who played Sam’s sister Tara, exited the franchise as well. These departures left fans wondering about the future direction of the series.

The casting changes have paved the way for new faces, with Patrick Dempsey reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Detective Mark Kincaid from Scream 3. His potential return adds another layer of nostalgia to the upcoming installment.

The Future of Scream Under Kevin Williamson

Kevin Williamson, the mastermind behind the original Scream screenplay, is set to make his directorial debut with Scream 7. Williamson’s involvement has reignited excitement among longtime fans who credit him with the franchise’s clever blend of meta-humor and suspense. Plot details remain under wraps, but with Sidney Prescott’s return and a potential focus on her family, fans can expect the series to delve deeper into its legacy while introducing new elements.

Courteney Cox has also expressed her hopes for David Arquette’s return as Dewey Riley. Despite Dewey’s emotional demise in Scream 5, Cox’s attachment to the character has sparked speculation about flashbacks or creative ways to bring him back.

What to Expect from Scream 7

With a release date set for February 27, 2026, Scream 7 promises to be a thrilling continuation of the iconic franchise. The return of legacy characters like Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers, coupled with fresh storylines and casting, signals a bold yet nostalgic direction for the series. The addition of Kevin Williamson as director further raises expectations for a film that honors its roots while carving out new territory in the horror genre.

For those aspiring to work in the entertainment industry, Scream 7 exemplifies the resilience and evolution of a beloved franchise. Whether you’re an actor, writer, or filmmaker, the Scream series serves as a masterclass in balancing legacy and innovation.

Alec Baldwin Plans to Reveal “What Really Happened” on Rust Set

Alec Baldwin believes the full story of the Rust shooting and its aftermath has yet to be told. The actor recently shared his thoughts on the case, saying he plans to uncover the truth behind the events. Speaking on David Duchovny’s Fail Better podcast, Baldwin said, “There’s more to come, but now it’s my effort to expose what really happened.” Reflecting on the legal and public scrutiny he faced, he described feeling as though he had to “counterpunch” while being “accused and indicted.”

The Rust incident has been widely discussed over the past three years, but Baldwin insists key aspects remain untold. According to him, “The mainstream press and the tabloid press suppressed every story that could benefit me and amplified every story that could hurt me.” While he expressed relief that the criminal charges against him were dropped, he said he would have preferred a jury trial to present “so much more” evidence. “A jury would’ve considered the facts,” he said, adding that a trial could have clarified the situation.

Despite the case’s dismissal, Baldwin hinted at more revelations to come through future legal filings. He criticized the intense public backlash he faced, saying, “In this country, when people hate you at that level, they want three things: they want you to die, they want you to go to prison, and they want you canceled.” He described cancelation as akin to being “invisible,” though he acknowledged he has remained in the public eye.

Baldwin suggested his career may be rebounding, saying he feels opportunities to work are returning. He and his wife are planning a reality show about their family, which includes their seven young children. For now, however, Baldwin intends to step back from the spotlight. “I’m gonna take a break,” he said. “I don’t wanna talk about this for a while. I just wanna take a nap.”

Hollywood’s DEI Efforts Are Falling Short

A new Vanity Fair report sheds light on Hollywood’s struggles to fulfill its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) promises made after 2020.

In 2020, amid the global reckoning following George Floyd’s murder, Hollywood studios pledged to amplify stories from underrepresented voices. Major companies invested in DEI programs and hired staff of color for roles ranging from writers to executives. But just a few years later, these efforts appear to be faltering.

According to Vanity Fair, two major factors are driving this reversal: financial challenges and political concerns.

Money Talks

Hollywood’s financial troubles are well-documented. The rise of streaming had already disrupted traditional revenue streams before 2020. Then came the pandemic, which halted productions, and most recently, the dual strikes by writers and actors. “Everyone has been suffering,” director and Emmy nominee Thembi Banks told Vanity Fair. “But there’s that old saying: ‘When white America has a cold, Black America has the flu.’”

These pressures have led to budget cuts, often at the expense of DEI initiatives. For example, Karen Horne, Warner Bros. Discovery’s North American VP for DEI, was laid off in 2023 during restructuring. Her departure signals the industry’s willingness to abandon long-term goals when money gets tight.

Political Pressures

Politics is another stumbling block. The Supreme Court’s 2023 decision to end Affirmative Action has raised concerns about legal risks tied to DEI efforts. Consultant Kristen Marston, who worked on films like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Little Mermaid, said some companies are avoiding anything that could be seen as a quota system. Even the word “equity” in job titles is causing unease, with fears it could become a legal liability.

Companies are also wary of public backlash. The rise of “anti-woke” sentiment has led some studios to scale back on DEI-related messaging to avoid controversy.

Structural Challenges

Beyond finances and politics, systemic issues persist. DEI consultants hired after 2020 often found their advice ignored. Hollywood remains a business driven by personal networks, and many decision-makers tend to connect with people who look like them. This cycle reinforces existing inequalities.

While Hollywood’s initial push for inclusivity was encouraging, the industry’s ability to sustain these efforts is now in question. For a deeper dive, check out the full report at Vanity Fair.

Sydney Sweeney Faces Body-Shaming Over Bikini Photos: What It Reveals About Beauty Standards

Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in Euphoria and Anyone But You, has achieved remarkable success in Hollywood. Yet, even with two Emmy nominations and a flourishing career, the 27-year-old actress remains a target of public scrutiny—this time over her body. Recent paparazzi photos sparked cruel comments online, shedding light on the impossible beauty standards women face.

Earlier this week, candid photos of Sweeney outside her Florida home surfaced online. The images, showing her physique after intense training for her role as boxer Christy Martin, triggered harsh criticism. One social media user shared the photos with the caption, “All women are catfish. The question is, to what degree.” Others called her “frumpy,” “mid,” and “chunky.”

In response, Sweeney posted a video on Instagram juxtaposing these hateful comments with footage of her training for the role. She proudly showcased her preparation to portray Martin, a resilient athlete who survived domestic violence. This isn’t the first time Sweeney has addressed body-shaming. In 2021, she tearfully responded to being called “ugly” on Twitter, and earlier this year, her representatives spoke out against a producer’s disparaging remarks about her acting and looks.

A Double Standard for Women in the Spotlight

The backlash against Sweeney highlights a troubling double standard. Zeynab Mohamed, writing in her Substack Face Value, pointed out that women can’t win. “When [Sweeney] looks polished on Instagram, she’s accused of being fake. When caught candidly, she’s criticized for being too real,” Mohamed wrote. Male celebrities rarely face such scrutiny. As Mohamed noted, Chris Hemsworth’s unpolished moments don’t ignite the same vitriol.

Journalist Helen Coffey echoed this sentiment, observing how commenters relish seeing women fall short of perfection. “It really doesn’t matter what you look like,” she wrote, adding, “None of us will ever be good enough to appease men who hate women—because they want us to fail.”

Impossible Beauty Standards

Even women who align with traditional Western beauty ideals aren’t immune to criticism. Salon writer Nardos Hailey noted that figures like Margot Robbie have faced similar backlash, despite embodying the same narrow standards. Hailey argued that such attacks aim to control women’s bodies, rejecting any deviation from rigid expectations.

Hayley Maitland of Vogue suggested that praising Sweeney’s beauty as a defense against misogyny is misguided. “To embody a patriarchal fantasy is its own special hell,” Maitland wrote, explaining how women are simultaneously objectified and criticized for defying those objectifications.

The Role of Social Media

Writer Liz Plank explored the cultural forces behind such comments, linking them to social media algorithms and incel culture. Plank argued that these factors radicalize some men to view women as adversaries. “Instead of love and acceptance, they’re left tweeting about how Sydney Sweeney is ‘mid,’” she wrote. Plank concluded that this behavior reflects a broader societal failure to foster meaningful connections and empathy.

TikToker @ida_que highlighted how unrealistic social media portrayals fuel these toxic expectations. “We’ve forgotten what real people look like,” she said, pointing to the filtered, curated images that dominate online platforms. Another TikToker, Amelia Montooth, expressed concern that society is regressing to the fatphobic attitudes of the early 2000s, exacerbated by “tradwife” content and a renewed fixation on appearance.

A Call for Change

As Sweeney’s experience shows, beauty standards remain unattainable and disproportionately affect women. While Sweeney will likely continue to thrive, the attacks on her appearance underscore the persistent objectification women face. Until society shifts its focus from judging women’s bodies to valuing them as individuals, these harmful patterns will persist.

Sweeney’s response—a proud display of her hard work and resilience—serves as a reminder that no one should have to conform to arbitrary ideals. Instead of tearing women down, we should challenge the voices perpetuating these impossible expectations.

Superman Revealed: Bloody, Bruised, and Ready for Hope in New Trailer

James Gunn unveils secrets from the set of the highly anticipated 2025 Superman movie: “I believe in the goodness of humanity.”

The first trailer for the new Superman movie gives fans a glimpse of the Man of Steel in a vulnerable state. Bloody and battered, he crash-lands in a frozen wasteland, his labored breathing hinting at broken ribs or fluid-filled lungs. Yet amidst the desolation, hope emerges in the form of his loyal canine companion, Krypto. “Take me home,” Superman pleads, a line that captures the emotional core of writer-director James Gunn’s vision for the film.

The trailer is sparse on dialogue, featuring only one other spoken line: a young boy, clutching a makeshift flag, whispers “Superman, Superman” with desperate hope. These moments reflect the themes of resilience and optimism that Gunn seeks to weave into the movie.

Superman, created in 1939, has long symbolized “Truth, Justice, and the American Way.” However, in a changing cultural landscape, DC updated the motto to “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow” in 2021. Speaking at a trailer launch event on the Warner Bros. lot, Gunn addressed how his Superman embodies the decency the character has represented for decades.

“That’s what ‘Take me home’ is all about,” Gunn explained. “At the start of the film, Superman is battered, much like our country. But I believe in the inherent goodness of people. Despite ideological or political divides, most people are doing their best to be good.”

Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, the new Superman movie is the first solo film for the character since 2013’s Man of Steel. It’s also a cornerstone project for DC Studios co-leads Gunn and Peter Safran, who have ambitious plans for a reimagined DC Universe. To build excitement, Gunn and his team hosted a press event featuring stars David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor).

Corenswet, known for his roles in Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood and The Politician, admitted there were moments on set when he didn’t feel like Superman. However, seeing his castmates’ reactions reassured him. “It’s like getting a great haircut,” he joked. “You forget about it until people say, ‘Whoa, you look amazing!’ Watching their reactions helped me see Superman through their eyes.”

Brosnahan shared a memorable moment from filming, recalling the first time she saw Corenswet in full costume. “I remember walking through a field and seeing you in the suit. I ran up and said, ‘You are Superman! Crazy.’”

Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, promises to be a compelling antagonist. “Even if you disagree with his methods, you can understand where he’s coming from,” Hoult noted. “His ideology might even seem, in some ways, better for humanity.”

The trailer also teases other heroes in Superman’s world, including Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific. Gunn’s knack for creating beloved animal characters shines with Krypto, who appears more like a scrappy rescue dog than the polished version from comics. “He’s not the best dog,” Gunn teased. “There’s a lot more to Krypto than meets the eye.”

Ultimately, Gunn describes the movie as “a story about kindness.” The trailer hints at a Superman grounded in humanity, striving to inspire hope and a better tomorrow for all.
