Master P’s ‘I Got The Hook Up 2’ Worldwide Open Casting Call

Master P is back!

Master P is reportedly working on a sequel to his 1998 hit movie I Got The Hook-Up and he is now looking to cast unknown and aspiring actors to star in it.

TMZ reports Master P plans to reprise his role, except with all the technology updates since 1998. It’s going to star big names including Romeo, Master P’s son.

P’s hosting an open casting call on social media to find an unknown actor to fill a big role, plus smaller ones too. 

Mater P said there is a lot of potential in social media stars and wants to give some of these aspiring talents their big break.

About I Got The Hook Up:

The first movie featured two small-time scam artists, Black and Blue, who sell boom boxes and broken TVs from their van at the parking lot. When, by mistake, a shipment of cellular phones gets to them, it doesn’t take long before FBI and gangsters are after them.

About Dynasty:

Dynasty is an upcoming American prime time television soap opera series reboot based on the 1980s series of the same name, which ran on ABC from 1981 to 1989. It stars Grant Show as Blake Carrington, Nathalie Kelley as Cristal Flores, Elizabeth Gillies as Blake’s daughter Fallon, and James Mackay as his son Steven. Netflix Cancels ‘Haters Back Off’

According to Deadline, Netflix has decided not to renew comedy series Haters Back Off for a third season.

Netflix canceled the series, which is based on a famous YouTube personality Colleen Ballinger’s weird character Miranda Sings. Deadline reports that based on the viewership data they were able to collect, Haters Back Off had a good start when it was released. But in the long run, Ballinger’s YouTube following was not enough to keep the show going.

That said, YouTube may pick up the series for a third season, which often features series starring famous YouTube personalities.

The series starred Ballinger as Miranda Sings, Steve Little as Miranda’s Uncle Jim, Angela Kinsey as Miranda’s mom, Bethany, Erik Stocklin, as Miranda’s neighbor and best friend, Patrick, and Francesca Reale as Miranda’s sister, Emily.

It is essential to note Netflix has just started canceling TV series. Deadline points out that Of 18 new scripted set to premiere on Netflix in 2017, 13 have been renewed, only two canceled and three are pending, with most if not all of them looking good to come back. In fact, in the last week, Netflix renewed Stranger Things and Mindhunter.

Why Miami’s Film Industry May Be Making a Comeback

Miami’s film industry may be making a comeback.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, South Florida county and city officials say they are doing what they can to entice productions and contain the losses after the local government cut back on their film tax incentives.

For example, Miami-Dade County has launched an incentives program for film and entertainment productions. Among the criteria, productions must spend at least $1 million in the county for payroll, hire at least 50 Miami-Dade residents as main cast and crew members, and make sure at least 70% of the production is filmed in the county. The rebate for the productions that qualify is $100,000.

As a result, Dwayne Johnson’s Baywatch filmed in Miami and now Matthew McConaughey’s new movie The Beach Bum is filming throughout South Florida.

“This incentive is not meant to replace what the state had, it’s meant to stem the bleeding of what we had here,” said Sandy Lighterman, director of the Office of Film and Entertainment in Miami-Dade County.

Between 2010 and 2013, productions spent about $350 million to $450 million a year in Miami-Dade before dropping to about $150 million as TV shows such as USA’s “Graceland” left in 2015, Lighterman said.

“And that was when the real dip happened,” she said. “Each one that ended, we lost and [had] nothing to replace them.”

“We are in the middle of a crusade to bring the film and production industry back to Miami Beach and have really made some very significant strides in terms of amending our guidelines,” said Eva Silverstein, director of Tourism, Culture & Economic Development for Miami Beach.

Lighterman also explained that North Miami approved a program that would reimburse 30% of costs for productions shot in the city’s redevelopment area with Doral looking to start their own rebate program in 2018.

“People want to shoot where they have a good experience, and I think that most productions that come here have a good experience,’’ she said. “You have to get them here first.”

Meanwhile, Broward and Palm Beach counties are pushing their own film tax credits. The Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB Underground’s film, music, fashion & create division has had a cash-based rebate program in place for five years for film, TV and print productions that shoot in the county, said vice president Noelle Stevenson.

Dwayne Johnson on Running for President: ‘I Will Be Watching Very Intently’

There are several actors who turned to politics including Ronald Reagan, Al Franken, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump. Now someone else may take their acting chops from Hollywood to the White House, this time around it is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

In May, The Rock discussed the possibility of a 2020 Presidential run in an profile for GQ Magazine, saying,  “I think that it’s a real possibility.” He and Tom Hanks then joked about the topic during the cold open while on Saturday Night Live. 

Most people probably took Johnson’s Presidential run as a joke. But Johnson seemed dead serious about it during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

And, based on Friday’s interview with InStyle magazine, Johnson has not ruled out a 2020 run.

“This whole thing started with a piece in The Washington Post about a year and a half, two years ago,” Johnson told Laura Brown. “And then, when it started to pick up and got to the point where it was just impossible to ignore, I said, ‘Of course I would consider a run.’ So where we’re at right now is just quietly observing everything happening on the political landscape, and when the next election comes along … I will be watching very intently.”

It is important to point out that in May’s GQ interview,  Caity Weaver got Johnson to disclose that he declined to endorse Hillary Clinton or Trump.

“But I also have a tremendous amount of respect for the process and felt like if I did share my political views publicly, a few things would happen,” Johnson told Weaver in the GQ profile. “And these are all conversations I have with myself, in the gym at four o’clock in the morning—I felt like it would either (a) make people unhappy with the thought of whatever my political view was. And, also, it might sway an opinion, which I didn’t want to do.”

Johnson also talked about the current NFL racial protests. saying, he was getting upset by all the bitterness in the country.

“At first, I was getting angry, of course. Because these scenarios are right in front of us—when the players are kneeling as a last resort, as a desire to be heard, clearly they’re not being heard. It’s an opportunity for our leaders, our president and his staff, to hear them, truly hear them, and not be angry. I used to get pissed every day. I would wake up and pick up my phone and look at the alerts, and it’s like, “What am I gonna read today?” But then I realized I needed to try and be as grateful as I could possibly be. What we’re in need of is a greater leadership that’s inclusive and truly hears the people and doesn’t have a knee-jerk reaction out of anger. Scenarios like this, while divisive, also clarify what we really want in the future. And we’ll have a chance in a few years to cast another vote, and we’ll see where the American people are when that time comes.”

The Gifted is an upcoming American television series created for Fox by Matt Nix, based on Marvel Comics’ X-Men properties. It is connected to the X-Men film series, the second television series to be so. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, with Nix serving as showrunner.

 The series stars Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker as ordinary parents who take their family on the run after they discover their children’s mutant abilities. Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White also star in the show. The series received a put pilot commitment at Fox after a previous attempted X-Men series did not move forward at the network in 2016; The Gifted was ordered to series in May 2017.

About American SKAM:

Skam, the Norwegian teen drama that has taken the internet by storm, will be getting an American remake. Skam is a Norwegian teen drama television series about the daily life of teenagers at the Hartvig Nissen School, a gymnasium in the wealthy borough of Frogner in West End Oslo.

Facebook is releasing the American remake of the TV series. “When I first heard about Skam, it felt like I was seeing the future of storytelling,” Facebook’s Global Content Chief Van Veen said (via Variety). “We’re incredibly enthusiastic about bringing it to global audiences on Facebook Watch.”
