Ford national commercial casting call for principal roles in Atlanta, Georgia.

Casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming on February 14th through the 16th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Producers are looking for the following types:

  • SPECS: (all African American women)
    At the heart of this campaign we feature African American women of all ages, colors, and walks of life. We want the viewer to feel like they know them, or rather, want to know them. They could be our neighbors, friends, or family members.
    For these women, authenticity is key. Their lives are lived with daily struggles that they vigorously power through. Regardless of what life brings, they are inherently ready for any challenge. The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus is “Desperately Unhappy” About Carl’s Death

Many people are upset about the death of Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead including Norman Reedus.

“I was desperately unhappy about that,” Reedus tells EW in an interview. “I’ve seen Chandler grow up from a little boy. I’ve known that kid so long, and it always hurts when you lose a family member on the show. Chandler is definitely a family member to me. I was not happy about it. I always thought Chandler would be the last man standing, to be honest.”

Carl is alive in the comic book on which the show is based on, with many people theorizing Rick was going to get killed off with his son taking over. But that will no longer happen on the TV series. The Walking Dead creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman defended the movie to EW and promised that there won’t be as much story reworking because of Carl’s death as people think. “There are big, huge stories coming up that you might think will be massively altered because of the absence of Carl,” says Kirkman. “But we have known these storylines have been coming for years. There are plans in place to make it all work. The loss of Carl doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going to be losing big swaths of the comic book story. It means that there will be some differences to them.”

However, Reedus is concerned how the loss of another original character will change the chemistry of the show people fell in love with. With Carl being killed off and Lennie James’ Morgan moving over to spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead at the end of season 8, that only leaves Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride and Reedus as the three original season 1 actors left.

“The people that started this show, to me, are the heart of the show,” says Reedus. “When you lose those key members, it’s such a big blow to the show, and to the fans, and to us that are there. Who’s left? There’s only a few of us left out of all those people. If you wanted to turn it into a totally different show, you get rid of those people. But if you want to hold onto what made the show special, you’ve got to be very careful what you do with those people.”

That said, Reedus is happy to see Riggs’ have a growing acting career.

“I love Chandler. He’s very talented, and he’s very driven, and he’s going to do great.” Riggs may do great without the show, but the question now becomes: How will the show do without Riggs?

‘Game of Thrones’ Casting Director: “I love discovering unknown actors”

Casting director Nina Gold says she loves discovering “unknown actors”.

Nina Gold is a three-time Emmy Award-winning casting director. Two of those Emmy Awards have come from casting Game of Thrones, while Gold has also had success casting movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Martian, and The King’s Speech. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Gold speaks about the art of casting and she also reveals two of her biggest success stories.

Gold points out that her job is all about taking risks on new talent. But, when it pays off it is an amazing feeling. She says, “I love discovering unknown actors. It’s very exciting, although it can be risky. You can’t predict if the person you think is going to be great really will be. But doesn’t it get boring if you always play it safe and use the same old names? Personally, I’m not interested in casting the most perfectly beautiful woman or someone who ticks all the boxes of what a person is ‘supposed’ to look like. I’m much more interested in character before beauty and an interesting charisma that’s not based on looks. More often than not, the risk pays off. I have to say, it’s a pretty good feeling to go to the cinema and watch a film that I’ve cast. I cry a lot!”

Gold gives an example of how she discovered a talent and has continued to nurture the actor.  She explains, “Of course there are exceptions, but casting directors are almost always women. I suppose it’s because it’s such an egoless, nurturing role. I meet actors and it’s my job to help develop their talent. Maisie Williams was only 11 when we cast her as Arya Stark in Game Of Thrones. I had to take into consideration that the show could go on for years. But she’s incredibly resilient and has a strong sense of self so she hasn’t been swayed by all the fame. Ultimately, it comes down to intuition and trusting your instinct.”

When it comes to successful actors, Gold points out how many people don’t realize how hard they had to work to get there and in the case of casting directors, all those that supported those actors. She says, “When an actor wins a major award, people don’t want to think about the long process that he or she has gone through to get there. They like to think it’s down to divine inspiration or a God-given right. In reality, there may have been hundreds of auditions beforehand, or the part may have been offered to five other actors first. Congratulating casting at that point shatters the illusion. There is still a lot to be done in terms of recognition, but we’re working on it.”

Gold says one of her biggest success stories were casting the relatively unknown Daisy Ridley in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She recalls, “I remember when Daisy first walked through the door. She’d taken the precaution of wearing her hair in two buns on either side of her head like Princess Leia. We fell in love with her straight away. We’d seen hundreds of thousands of people, but she was totally perfect, and we couldn’t get her out of our heads. It was her energy, she just had something. We then realized that we’d auditioned her on the feisty parts, but could she do the deep, troubled emotions? We asked her to perform the moment when Kylo Ren is trying to get the thoughts out of her mind and she had me crying my eyes out. It was the perfect fit.”

About The Good Cop:

The Good Cop is an upcoming television drama created by Andy Breckman. It will consist of ten episodes and will be released on Netflix. Written by Breckman, who serves as showrunner, The Good Cop centers on Tony Sr. (Danza), a disgraced former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr. (Groban), an earnest, obsessively honest NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules. This “odd couple” become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly cautious son blunt, streetwise advice on everything from handling suspects to handling women.

‘Sister Sister’ Is Coming Back

Sister Sister, probably one of the best twin-based TV shoes ever, is coming back.

Appearing on Steve Harvey’s talk show yesterday, Jackée Harry, who played Lisa Landry on the show, confirmed that a reboot is happening, primarily because Tia and Tamara won’t leave her alone.

“They’re my babies”, Jackée said. “They won’t leave me alone. I can’t get rid of none of these women!”

The original show focused on the life of identical twins who were separated at birth and reconnect after a chance encounter. The show ran form 1994 to 199. While there is no word when the reboot will hit screens, Tia told Us Weekly in November that she and her sister are working with the producers from the original production, and they’re confident that fans will love it.

“I feel very blessed and honoured that people are still following my sister and I 20 years later,” she said. “We’re just excited to give back to the fans and make them happy, that’s really one of the main reasons we’re doing it. We’re moms with children, but I would like for the show to really focus on sisterhood and the strengths and weaknesses of sisterhood.”

Lawmakers Want to Reboot Florida’s Film Industry

Lawmakers are looking to reboot Florida’s film industry.

Two South Florida lawmakers want to bring back the film industry to their state.

Sen. Annette Taddeo, D-Miami, and Florida Rep. David Silvers, D-West Palm Beach, have filed bills in their respective branches to reestablish Florida’s once-burgeoning film industry.

According to Local 10, SB 1606 seeks to establish the Florida Motion Picture Capital Corporation “to encourage the use of this state as a site for scripted productions by providing financing to certain productions.” The House companion bill was co-sponsored by Silvers and Rep. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota.

“This effort will bring high-paying jobs, grow the middle class and maintain Florida’s reputation as a top destination for film and TV projects,” Taddeo said.

Under the proposal, productions would be greenlit on a merit-based system in which certain provisions must be met. The process, Taddeo said, would be similar to a loan so that filmmakers with a proven track record would benefit from it.

It is important to point out that Florida was once third in the country for film and TV production, just behind California and New York. Now, states like Georgia has taken over the film industry due to their luxurious film tax credits.
