A background actor was upgraded to a speaking role on the set of Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes.
TW Casting, the extras casting company behind AT&T’s Mr. Mercedes Season 2, revealed on Facebook that a background actor was upgraded to a speaking role this week.
“Huge CONGRATS to one of our fantastic extras, Ryan Sharp, on being upgraded to a speaking role on Mr. Mercedes S2 yesterday!!! First upgrade of season two and it couldn’t have gone to a better kid!”
Mr. Mercedes season 2 is now filming in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Mercedes, based on Stephen King’s 2014 book of the same name, follows a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.
This is not the first time a background actor as upgraded to a speaking role. Recently, on set of Kevin Hart’s new movie Night School, a background actor was also upgraded to a principal speaking role. Tyler Perry also has a history of upgrading background extras to speaking roles.
CBS‘ ‘MacGyver‘ season 2 is now casting Asian actors in Atlanta, Georgia.

CBS Films has set its lead female cast for Hellfest, the Gregory Plotkin-directed, Gale Anne Hurd-produced genre film about a masked serial killer who turns a horror-themed amusement part into his own personal Halloween slaughterhouse.
