Background actors in Chicago are getting paid $12/hour.
On Thursday, New Deal Casting announced that NBC’s hit TV series Chicago PDwill begin paying background actors $96/8. “The new base rate for general background is now $96/8hrs,” the casting company announced on Facebook. Filming for the new season of Chicago PD is expected to start filming shortly.
NBC’s Chicago PDcenters on the Intelligence team located at the District 21 of the Chicago Police department. This team fights the city’s major offenses including organized crime, drug trafficking, and high profile murders.

There are two movies reportedly in development just days after the Thai Cave rescue saved a soccer team.
The director of the upcoming feature film Crazy Rich Asians, John M. Chu, and Ivanhoe Pictures announced on Wednesday that they are developing a movie about the Thai cave rescue operation.
The director and production company made the announcement after Pure Flix Entertainment announced the company was seeking the movie rights to the rescue operation, according to The Wrap.
“I refuse to let Hollywood #whitewashout the Thai Cave rescue story! No way. Not on our watch. That won’t happen or we’ll give them hell,” Chu tweeted Wednesday.
“There’s a beautiful story abt human beings saving other human beings. So anyone thinking abt the story better approach it right & respectfully.”
Ivanhoe Pictures is currently in talks with the most senior officials in Thailand and there are multiple studios who have reportedly shown interest in the project.
About the Thai Cave Rescue:
All 12 members of the Tahi boys’ soccer team and their coach have been rescued after being trapped in a cave for weeks. The news broke on Tuesday morning when the final four children and their 25-year-old coach were saved by Thai Navy SEALs.
The rescue operation included guiding the boys down a flooded cave system that took the life of one diver who attempted to reach the trapped soccer team. Some sections of the cave even required climbing equipment and some sections were so narrow that divers needed to remove their oxygen tanks to get through.
The trapped soccer team had a group of boys aged 11 to 16. They were found last Monday following a nine-day search. It was originally believed the team would stay in the cave until the end of the raining season, but that would have required the children staying in the cave for several more months. After the rain flooding in the cave worsened, a team of 90 rescue divers, 40 Thai and 50 foreign, were sent in to rescue the children.

Actor Michael B. Jordan is on fire. He starred in one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Black Panther, appeared in the HBO movie adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, and just finished filming Creed II, which is expected to hit theaters later on this year.
In a recent actor roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan explained why it is essential for actors to follow their instincts when it comes to choosing projects. He says, “You can’t do everything. And obviously you have agents who have their own agenda, everybody’s trying to push you and navigate you toward saying or taking a job that you may not feel 100 percent comfortable with. Everything on paper may look good, but you have to go with your instincts. When I was younger, I started off still living at home, and I didn’t have any real responsibilities, I didn’t have a mortgage to worry about or bills to pay, so you’re taking what’s in front of you. But once you get older and a little more successful, the choices you make really define the way the industry looks at you and how you move forward with your career. Those are the times that you’ve got to be a little bit more selective with the kind of projects that you do.”
Jordan explains that he was not initially interested in starring in Fahrenheit 451 because of playing an authoritative figure in the movie. He explains, “I wasn’t interested in playing an authoritative figure with what was going on in the world with police and in my community. And being a black man, I didn’t want to play somebody who was an oppressor. I just didn’t want that in my head. And the character just didn’t sit right because I played Oscar Grant [a police shooting victim in Fruitvale Station]and I was playing characters that meant so much to my community at that time.”
But, it was a conversation with the director that changed his mind. Jordan adds, “But sitting down with the director, Ramin [Bahrani], and knowing Michael Shannon was going to be a part of it, and understanding the vision and the themes and messages that he wanted to send through the movie [convinced me]. And at that time, I hadn’t read the book. I read it, and then I talked to my agents, my mom, dad, friends, people who are around me and know me. That’s how I make decisions.”

About The Gifted:
The Gifted is an upcoming American television series created for Fox by Matt Nix, based on Marvel Comics’ X-Men properties. It is connected to the X-Men film series, the second television series to be so. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, with Nix serving as showrunner.
The series stars Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker as ordinary parents who take their family on the run after they discover their children’s mutant abilities. Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White also star in the show. The series received a put pilot commitment at Fox after a previous attempted X-Men series did not move forward at the network in 2016; The Gifted was ordered to series in May 2017.
