BET’s TALES season 2 is now casting extras for the episode “Bodak Yellow” filming in Atlanta, Georgia.

Legislators are Pushing To Make Movies in Indiana

Indiana lawmakers are pushing for more movies film in the state.

According to Fox 59, legislators are pushing for new legislation to encourage movie producers to film in Indiana.

“We would have to shoot them in Ohio, Kentucky, or Illinois,” said Angelo Pizzo, screenwriter, and co-producer of “Hoosiers” and “Rudy.” “There are great Indiana stories that are not being shot here.”

Indiana is one of 15 states that do not give a tax or rebate incentive to filmmakers.

“In Cincinnati alone, there were 10 feature films made over the last year-and-a-half, and only one was set in Cincinnati,” Pizzo said.

House Bill 1070 plans to bring Indiana to the film industry by giving filming incentives. Supporters of the bill argue the state has lost at least #80 million in business since 2016.

“They are shooting a $50 million mini-series that takes place in Indianapolis in Toronto,” Pizzo said of Netflix’s new series “Madam Walker.”

House Bill 1070 proposed rebate system would provide incentives to productions that spend at least $500,000 in the state, and shoot half the movie in Indiana.

Filmmakers will get 20% back on expenditures, a 30% return for local labor, and 35% for interns and other development positions. To qualify as a local worker, the person must have lived in Indiana for six months.

“Then you will have an audit of the money you spent, and then you will get a check in return,” Indianapolis Film Commissioner Teresa Sabatine said.

“Unfortunately as we train these young people in the craft, and the art of making film, they are going to leave because there are no jobs here,” Pizzo said to Fox 59. Over a dozen colleges in Indiana offer film studies, but Pizzo said roughly 60 percent leave.

Sabatine argues Tennessee offered to rebate the show “Nashville” and in turn made $480 million in tourism.

“You’re seeing billboards in Tokyo and Japan with Nashville on the side. That’s just something you can’t buy with a traditional state marketing budget,” Sabatine said.

According to Deadline, HBO has given a series order to a new supernatural drama series called The Outsider. The movie will star Ben Mendelsohn. The show comes from The Night Of co-creator/executive producer Richard Price, director-producer Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes) Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films, Temple Hill Entertainment, and MRC. Ozark star/director/executive producer Jason Bateman is set to direct the first two episodes and may star alongside Mendelsohn in the show.

The novel centers around an investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything “they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case”.

Showtime’s BILLIONS season 3 is now casting federal agents for a scene in New York City.

Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for SAG actors with law enforcement experience to play featured federal agents to work on Season 4 of the hit Showtime series “Billions”. College Students: Nikon Wants to Pay You $10,000

The Nikon Storytellers Scholarship is looking for 10 undergraduate or graduate students. Talents will receive $10,000 from Nikon to develop their skills.

Last year, Nikon first launched the Storytelling Scholarship, where Nikon offered up money for students to build their visual art skills. Based on the success of the first campaign, the Nikon is looking to help additional aspiring filmmakers.

The contest is open only to  “undergraduate and graduate students at an accredited, non-profit college/university or vocational/technical school in the United States or Canada pursuing degrees in visual arts, fine arts, journalism, film, photography and multimedia/content creation who will have completed their freshman year of college.” If you fit the description, you should definitely apply for this scholarship.

“In launching this program for a second year, Nikon is reaffirming its dedication to supporting and encouraging the next generation of creators in their pursuits to become the confident, fearless voices of tomorrow.” 

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to receive The Nikon Storytellers Scholarship:

  • You must be an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited, non-profit college/university or vocational/technical school in the United States or Canada.
  • You must complete your freshman year of college or academic equivalent prior to commencement of the 2019-2020 academic year.
  • You must be majoring in visual arts, fine arts, journalism, film, photography, or multimedia/content creation.
  • You must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average at time of application.
  • You will need to provide a recommendation from a professor, teacher or academic advisor.
  • If you are selected as a semi-finalist, you will be asked to provide a photo portfolio or video submission, description of photo/video submission and copy of academic transcript.

“Bad Boys 3” is Now Casting Extras for a Hospital Scene

Bad Boys 3 is now casting nurses and hospital visitors in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to reports, Catrett Casting is now casting background actors for Bad Boys 3. Casting directors are looking for men and women ages 21 to 50 years old with Medical Experience to portray hospital workers, orderlies, and hospital visitors. Producers are seeking talent to work on scenes filming between Monday, February 25th and February 28th in Atlanta, Georgia. Talents will be compensated $75/day.

About Bad Boys 3:

Details for the production have not been released. However, it is reported Bad Boys 3 will begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia starting this January. The sequel has been in development for a long time. Sony announced two Bad Boys movies in 2015, but there were several delays. Moving forward, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be directing the sequel, which is set to hit theaters in early 2020.

Police: Jussie Smollett “Staged” Attack to “Promote His Career”

Police say Jussie Smollett “Orchestrated” the attack in Chicago because he was “dissatisfied with his salary.”

Smollett orchestrated the attack where he said two men beat him while shouting homophobic and racist slurs and putting a rope around his neck, police said on Thursday.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Smollett sent a threatening letter to himself and paid two men $3,500 to stage the attack against him.

“This announcement today recognizes that ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career,” Johnson said. “I’m left hanging my head and asking why. Why would anyone, especially an African American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations.”

Smollett turned himself in to police early Thursday morning on a felony charge of disorderly conduct in filing a false report. he expected to appear in bond court at 1:30 pm on Thursday.

The “Empire” star was charged Wednesday with the class four felony, which carries a sentence ranging from probation to up to three years in prison, according to the Chicago Cook County attorney’s office.

“Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked,” Smollett’s legal team said in a statement Wednesday. “Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defense.”

Chicago police confirmed attorneys for Smollett had discussions with prosecutors Wednesdays.

Chris Hemsworth has been tapped to play Hulk Hogan in a movie in development at Netflix with Todd Phillips directing. John Pollono will write the script with Scott Silver. Silver and Pollen recently teamed up to work on Warner Bros.’ upcoming “The Joker” movie, which filmed in New York City.
