About Awkwafina:

Awkwafina is a half-hour scripted narrative starring writer, actor and rapper Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8, Crazy Rich Asians) as a twenty-something living in Queens, striving for a larger than life existence while living with her father and grandmother. Awkwafina, Karey Dornetto (SMILF, Portlandia) and Teresa Hsiao (Family Guy, American Dad) wrote the pilot directed by Lucia Aniello (Broad City, Rough Night). About Netflix’s “The Sleepover”:

“The Sleepover,” a family-friendly action-comedy that will shoot in various South Shore cities like Hanover and Scituate, as well as Boston. The script, which landed a spot on the prestigious Black List in 2017, focuses around siblings Kevin and Clancy, whose dull rural life is thrown for a loop when bad guys break into their home and capture their parents. The kids soon realize that their stay-at-home mom had been hiding a few secrets, so they set out with two friends on an adventure to find and save their parents.
