A ‘Godzilla’ Sequel is Coming Soon

0

It’s official Warner Bros. is in discussion for developing a Godzilla sequel.

After making $103 Million dollars internationally in the opening weekend, it looks as Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are already in development for a sequel.

Godzilla was directed by Gareth Edwards, a British director who has beaten all of his Godzilla predecessors. The 1998 Godzilla movie starring Matthew Broderick made a modest $44m for it’s opening weekend and finished with a total of $379 million. But, according to reports, the latest Godzilla feature will double what the 1998 version accomplished.

Edwards has talked about what he would do with a sequel, saying he would use the same kind of restraint that he did for this one. He learned well from watching Spielberg films as the monster was only talked about for the first part of this film. And, of course, there were those reaction shots that added to the suspense (Deadline).

But, not only was the movie well developed Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures went above and beyond to develop a marketing strategy that will reach a wide audience. From the commercials to the movie posters, Godzilla was everywhere.

Expect the next Godzilla movie to attack your movie theater in the next two years. Are you ready for a sequel?

It’s hard to tell if Batman is sad that he has to fight Superman or if he still upset that he did ‘Gigli’ with Jennifer Lopez, nevertheless, this is the most depressed Batman ever.

Below are some of the most ridiculous meme’s we found featuring Batman, who really needs some cheering up.

Want to Audition for “Saturday Night Live”? Read this First

Have you ever wanted to audition for “Saturday Night Live”?

In a recent article in the Huffington Post, Noël Wells describes her first time on the famous tv series.

After building up a resume doing several short films and comedic skits, she was offered an audition with SNL.

logo11

This is how she describes her audition:

“They have you stay in this really small hotel,” she said of her “SNL” audition memory. “It’s like a hotel for businessmen who haven’t seen their family in months. I swear to God, I heard a man talking to his kid on Skype or FaceTime. She was like, ‘Daddy, where are you?’ He was like, ‘I’m sorry, Tiffany, happy birthday.’ I just remember being so sad about that, and also realizing everybody could hear everything I was doing in my room. I couldn’t practice my audition without feeling super self-conscious.”

To combat that feeling, Wells decided to go to Central Park, where she had anticipated doing her audition in front of a tree (“which made a lot of sense because nobody laughs at your audition”). Unfortunately, the sight of a person gesturing wildly to no one in particular drew the attention of park visitors, which necessitated a new course of action.

“I had the idea that the only way to get through five minutes would be to find somebody on the field and perform it for them,” Wells said. “I spent 30 minutes picking somebody out, walking really close to them and then bailing at the last second. Finally, I was like, ‘Stop being a pussy. You want to be on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ You will approach a stranger and ask them to watch the audition.'”

Photo: Stephanie Nelson Photography
Photo: Stephanie Nelson Photography

Wells found two men in their early 20s who agreed to listen to her material.

“So I did it for them and at the end of it, they were like, ‘We have some notes.'”

Noël Wells later goes on to describe her first audition ever in Los Angeles and how mortifying the experience was.

It’s a really great article looking at the perspective aspiring actors pursuing their dreams in entertainment industry.

Showtime: ‘Dope’ New Series on Athletes and Performance Enhancing Drugs

0

Showtime in development for a new series on athletes and performance enhancing drugs.

Since Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa broke homerun records and later admitting taking performance enhancing drugs, the NFL and MLB has been littered with athletes using drugs.

Showtime has seen this as an opportunity to put in development a new television series about the business of performance enhancing drugs for athletes and the doctor who made it popular in South Florida.

The new series entitled Dope, is slightly based on the A-Rod scandal but, it will be a fictional take and not based on actual events.

According to reports, the writer of Ray Donovan, David Hollander will be writing the script and Prometheus producers, Michael Costigan will produce.

In order to make the show realistic, Showtime has hired two journalists who have covered the MLB doping scandal extensively.

The Coen Brothers Next Movie, ‘Hail Caesar’ Centers on the 1950’s Film Industry

0

The Coen Brothers are getting ready for their next movie and it sounds amazing.

MV5BMjAxNjcyNDQxM15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNzU2NDA0MDE@._V1_SX214_AL_The Coen Brothers are big names in Hollywood. They have produced some of the biggest movies in the industry. Their latest effort, Inside Llewyn Davis was a major hit and was critically acclaimed by critics and actors alike.

Their next major feature film is to center on the 1950’s Hollywood Film Industry. According to Deadline, the new movie entitled Hail Caesar, is a comedic perspective of 1950’s Hollywood. The movie will center on a 1950’s private investigator, Eddie Mannix, who would go above and beyond to spy on movie stars and gather dirt. It is not sure if the movie is based on the former Vice President of MGM, Eddie Mannix who is rumored to have killed George Reeves, a popular actor at the time, for sleeping with Mannix’s wife. The case was later ruled a suicide but, many people have their doubts on the investigation.

Hollywood was a different world in the 1950’s as production companies went above and beyond to protect the images of their actors.

It was not unusual during the time for studios’ internal security to protect their assets to construct and manage the squeaky clean image of their stars. The big stars of the day were under contracts for a certain number of pictures so the powerful studios had their own go-to guys (and sometimes hired outside private investigators) to deep-six scandalous stories, whether it be romantic dalliances, drug use, DUIs, arrests, you name it. For the more serious threats, the fixers used pay-outs, strong-arming, and took care of “problems” (real or perceived) by any means necessary. It was the day of the old Hollywood star system. [Deadline]

This looks like the perfect movie for the Coen Brothers. Murder, mystery, and controversy the three ingredients to an edgy comedy.

Michael Sam Docu-Series Cancelled? OWN Network Places Show on Hold

0

Production on the Michael Sam docu-series has been postponed.

After a discussion between the NFL’s St. Louis Rams and producers, the OWN network will not be moving forward on the docu-series, according to Deadline.

“After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, The Untitled Michael Sam Project has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team. We will continue to support him in his journey to earn a spot playing for the Rams.”

The decision to postpone the show came after it experienced mixed reactions in the media. Many started that it would be more of a distraction to to other players. “After today’s meeting with the Rams, we collectively feel it is best to postpone the project,” said Sam’s agent, Cameron Weiss of Empire Athletes. “This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football, and will ensure no distractions to his teammates. Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message.”

michael-sam-gay-nfl-player-missouri-sports-athletes-football

The docu-series was to center on the life of Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay football player. The series was to be produced by Pilgrim Studios and the filmmaker, Amy Rice. The show was to follow Sam as he fought to join the professional football league.
