‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Now Hiring Crew, Extras in New Orleans

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show‘ is now hiring crew members and casting extras to appear in the upcoming TV series filming in New Orleans.

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ starts filming in New Orleans on July 14th. According to Louisiana Entertainment, American Horror Story: Freak Show will film from July 14th through December throughout the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Currently, ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ is looking for crew members to work on the production. If you live in the New Orleans area and looking to join the crew for the hit FX TV series, send your resume to [email protected]

According to OLV, producers are now casting extras to appear in the TV series as well. Batherson Casting is looking for men to play Carnival workers. Think about people that you would see at a traveling circus or those old time sideshows. The TV series is set in the 1950’s.

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Casting Call

Filming will take place in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Filming will start mid July 2014 through the end of December 2014. We are looking for men (all walks of life) to play Carnival workers (must be over 18). Think about the traveling circus or those old time sideshows. The show will take place in the 1950’s. Longer hair is OK. Facial hair is OK. We will be refraining from tattoos (clearance issues.) We are now in the process of showing and submitting photos to the producers & directors. North Korea Calls Seth Rogen’s New Movie “The Interview” an “Act of War”

North Korea calls James Franco and Seth Rogen’s new movie an “Act of War”.

The last we heard from North Korea on Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s new movie, The Interview was that Kim Myong-chol an assistant to the North Korean dictator said it showed the “desperation of the US government and American society.” North Korea responded today with harsher words than before.

A spokesman for the ministry said in state-run media that releasing the movie would be an “Act of war” on the United States’ behalf and claimed that the DPRK would take “stern” and “merciless” retaliation if it is not banned, according to the Associated Press.

In a statement carried by North Korea’s official KCNA news agency, a foreign ministry spokesman said the film was the work of “gangster moviemakers” and should never be shown.

“The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership… is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable,” the spokesman said.

In his statement, he called on the US administration to ban the film from being screened and warned that failure to do so would trigger a “resolute and merciless response.” [via]

According to BBC, North Korea is currently holding three Americans in custody. The latest to be detained is said to be a tourist named Jeffrey Edward Fowle who reportedly left a Bible at a hotel.

The Columbia Pictures feature film centers on James Franco as a late-night talk show host who scores an interview of a lifetime with Kim Jong-Un (Randall Park). But, the CIA decides to turn the host and his producer, Seth Rogen, into assassins.

Columbia Pictures is probably super excited about all of this free press. Without spending any money, James Franco and Seth Rogen‘s new movie has international press. Without having to do a single thing the filmmakers were able to market their movie to the entire world.

John Krasinski and Anna Kendrick’s  ‘The Hollars‘ Open Casting Call for Speaking Roles, Extras in Jackson, Mississippi

Morgan Casting is the local casting company for the upcoming feature film, The Hollars, which will film in Jackson, Mississippi this summer starting mid July. The feature film will feature The Office‘s John Krasinksi, Pitch Perfect‘s Anna Kendrick and Richard Jenkin’s from Six Feet Under. According to Deadline, “The Hollars” centers on  John Hollar (John Krasinski), an aspiring NYC artist who takes his girlfriend (Anna Kendrick) back to his Middle America hometown on the eve of his mother’s (Margo Martindale) brain surgery. There he’s forced to navigate the crazy life he left behind as his dysfunctional family, high school pals, his father (Richard Jenkins), and his over-eager ex flood back into his life ahead of the operation. The pic is produced by Krasinski’s Sunday Night production company and scripted by James C. Strouse in what’s described as a blend of Steel Magnolias and Garden State. Casting directors are holding an open casting call for extras and speaking roles in the movie this Saturday, June 28th in Jackson, Mississippi. The feature film will require a ton of extras and producers are looking for people to come and audition for roles, take a few quick photos, and join the casting director’s database for the upcoming feature film. This is a free experience and a great way to boost our acting career.

For EXTRAS we are need all types. Men and Women of all ages and all ethnic backgrounds. Many children are needed as well. (No toddlers please). Some examples of background needed: cops, nurses, doctors, patients in the hospital, people and employees at the airport, kids on bikes, shoppers, etc. ALL TYPES ARE WELCOME! Meg Ryan and Tom Hank’s new movie ‘Ithaca‘ is currently seeking Mimes for a role in the upcoming movie.

William Saroyan‘s 1943 novel “The Human Comedy“, “Ithaca” will center on life on a small California town during World War II. The movie will center on a teenage boy who is forced to take care of his younger siblings and widowed mother while is older brother is abroad fighting in the war.

“‘Ithaca’ is a deceptively simple story, by turns stark and lyrical,” Ryan said in a statement. “It’s sometimes shockingly unsentimental and yet, by some little miracle, never cynical. I am delighted to no end to bring a tale of such vibrancy and heart to the screen.”

6 Networking Tips You Need To Use in the Entertainment Industry

Want to become an actor? Here are 6 networking tips for actors in the entertainment industry!

While an actor focuses on their skills for booking auditions, they must also be willing and able to network with producers, agencies, and other actors. Much of getting your face out there as an actor is due to self-promotion. Unless you are Brad Pitt or an A-list actor you probably cannot afford a publicist.

However, until you are the next big thing to hit Hollywood, a little bit of self-publicity will help your chances at succeeding in the entertainment industry.

Here are 6 ways you can get your face out there:

Send a Postcard

Many actors don’t know about this, but it is completely appropriate to send a casting director a talent agent a post-card as a followup to an audition or meeting. Even if you didn’t book the audition with the director or get signed by the agent, send a follow up post-card with your headshot in the front and a unique design along with it. Also, include information about some upcoming productions you are working on to let them know that you are still working and an actor worth their attention. This will increase your chances of being remembered.

Websites

An Actor does not need to be famous to have their own website. With technology advancing rapidly, an actor should have their resume, headshots, and demo reel readily available online along with their biography and contact information. One great way is through My Project Casting. You will be surprised at how interested a casting director will be to see your work when they see that you have taken your acting career seriously.

Social Events (Mixers, Galas, etc.)

Many communities hold monthly mixers and seminars for actors to meet up and socialize. This will give you the chance to figure out what is currently happening in the entertainment industry and whether or not all of your tools are able to compete with your competition. Remember to be super friendly, because you never know who you are talking to.

Showcases

Every year ABC and other major networks hold talent showcases allowing aspiring actors the chance to show off their acting skills to producers, casting directors, and network executives. But, you can also showcase your skills at local theater groups or networking companies. If you are shopping around for an agent, this is your chance to meet with one directly and show off your skills. Even if you are not approached by a talent agent, stay after and mingle with people afterwards and take the time to introduce yourself. You never know where the conversation may lead to and what connections you may gain.

Business Cards

A business card is similar to a postcard, your headshot will be on the front of your business card along with your agency, contact number, and agency contact information. Avoid making it too busy. TOo much information may make the reciever overwhelmed and lose interest. Business cards are really useful if you run into someone on the street or at the store. This happens all the time in Los Angeles. It would also be a useful asset for mixers and other networking events as well.

Extra Work

Extra work is probably one of the best ways to get started in the entertainment industry. It allows you to connect with other aspiring actors, meet with production assistants, wardrobe designers, and other people that are currently working in the industry and not just talking about it. This is a great way to connect with people and make long-lasting connections.

10 Things You Did Not Know About Disney’s ‘The Lion King’

This week marks the 20 year anniversary to ‘The Lion King’ and celebration for the movie’s 20th birthday, here are 10 things you probably did not know about ‘The Lion King’.

Did you know that in 1994 Disney made $1 billion in merchandise sales? That is a ton of money, no wonder Disney bought LucasFilms nearly 20 years later.

Regardless of how much money they made, check out the 10 things you probably did not know about ‘The Lion King’.

10 Things You Most Likely Didn’t Know About The Lion King

1. According to “The Making of The Lion King,” the original opening scene featured a conversation discussing  most of the main characters, but directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff changed it when they heard the final version of “Circle of Life.”

2. The result of this decision was such a big deal that the opening scene was used as a trailer for the movie, making it the first time Disney had ever made a trailer using a complete scene.

3. The first script was titled King of Beasts, then changed to King of the Jungle featured Scar as a lone lion, unrelated to Simba, who was in charge of a pack of vicious baboons. In this version, Rafiki was written as a cheetah and Timon and Pumbaa were both friends with Simba from the start.

4. The Lion King was the first Disney animated film had a completely original storyline. Previously, Disney would create an adaptation of a pre-existing story, ie Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.

5. Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella, who played Timon and Pumbaa, originally auditioned to be hyenas. “They came to an audition in New York and they bumped into each other in the lobby, which is when they discovered they were both auditioning for the roles of hyenas,” director Rob Minkoff said. “They asked the casting director if they could audition together and they were hilarious as they read their lines, but they didn’t seem right for the hyenas. That’s when we thought, ‘What if we use them as Timon and Pumbaa?’ It was the perfect fit.” Cheech Marin and Whoopi Goldberg were cast as the hyenas instead.

6. Tommy Chong was supposed to play the third hyena opposite his former comedic-partner, Marin, but when he could not be contacted for an audition, Disney chose Jim Cummings was cast in his place.

7. After Simba’s first encounter with the hyenas, the film was supposed to play a lullaby sung by Sarabi called “The Lion in the Moon,” which was about a protective lion spirit. The song was later scrapped.

8. “Hakuna Matata” wasn’t originally in the script; instead, there was a song about eating bugs called “He’s Got it All Worked Out.” According to Minkoff, “We couldn’t convince everybody that making the entire song about eating bugs was a good idea. Soon after, the research team came back from their trip to Africa with the phrase ‘Hakuna Matata’. We talked about it in a meeting with Tim Rice—and that’s when the idea struck. I remember Tim saying, ‘Hmmm… Hakuna Matata. It’s a bit like Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.’ A song was born!”

9. The Lion King is the highest-grossing hand-drawn animated movie of all time with a total box office of over $987 million.

10. The Lion King is the third highest-grossing animated feature in general, the 19th highest-grossing film of all time, and the best-selling videotape of all time.

BONUS: Disney’s Lion King is getting another sequel called ‘Lion Guard’. The Lion Guard centers on Kion, the second born cub of Simba and Nala. Kion takes the role as the leader of the Lion Guard, the bravest ands martest lions whose job is to preserve the Pride lands. Instead of assempling a team of young lions, Kon goes in a different direction by gathering a diverse group of firends, Bunga, a honey badger, Fuli, a confident cheetah, Behste, a hippo, and Ono, an egret.

‘The Fault in Our Stars’ is the Most Profitable Movie of 2014

FOX 2000’s ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ is on track to becoming one of this year’s most profitable movies.

Domestically, ‘The Fault in Our Stars‘ has just made $100 million. According to Deadline, the movie recently premiered in Brazil and despite the World Cup being in full swing, ‘The Fault in Our Stars‘ is one of the most popular movies in the country. In 11 days the movie made more more money in Brazil than Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent. 

This will definitely set the careers fro the two young actors. Currently, Ansel Elgort will star in a movie about the famous Texas-born pianist who become extremely popular during the Cold War between U.S. and Russia. This is also great news for Lionsgate who has Shailene Woodley currently filming the Divergent sequel Insurgent. 

The movie was successful since The Fault in our Stars was a best-selling novel and had a large social media following.

Not only did Green have a best-seller, but he had own following from his YouTube channel, the Vlogbrothers, which he has been doing with his brother, Hank, for the past seven years. It has over 2.1M subscribers…as social media engagement for Fault was tracking off the charts. So from that, Green already had millions of followers on social media.

This may mark the start of more cancer related TV series, and movies. Fox has new TV series, The Red Band Society, centers around daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends. The depth of the unexpected friendships allows them to survive the challenges of growing up under such intense circumstances. With the recent success of ‘The Fault in Our Stars‘ expect for this show to have a large social media and TV following.

Watch ‘The Last of Robin Hood’ Movie Trailer Starring Dakota Fanning, Susan Surandon

Kevin Kline plays an aging Errol Flynn in Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland’s ‘The Last of Robin Hood‘.

The movie centers on the screen icon’s affair with an underage aspiring actress.

On the Hollywood silver screen Flynn was as charming as you can imagine, playing upright heroes like the 1938 classic The Adventures of Robin Hood. However, behind the screens his life was much more controversial. He filled his personal life with boozing, drug abuse, womanizing of gargantuan proportions and an array of scandals culminating in being charged with statutory rape.

Dakota Fanning stars as Beverly Aadland with Susan Surandon as her fame-obsessed mother.

The movie will premiere in Toronto and expected to hit theaters on August 29th.

The filming of The Last of Robin Hood began in the end of January 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia. Tammy Smith Casting hired several actors for background extra positions in February of 2013.

Background Extra Sues TV Network after Getting Beat Up on Set

Viacom is getting sued by a background extra after getting injured on ‘World’s Worst Tenants’ TV series.

According to deadline, on Spike‘s ‘World’s Worst Tenants‘ a background extras is claiming assault and battery and negligence. Josh Frager says he broke his collarbone after being shoved by the series star Todd Howard, an ex-Marine who on the show is a “professional evictor, which is like a bouncer who stands guard at a rental properties instead of nightclubs.”

In Joshua Frager‘s lawsuit he says that in January 2013, he was a background extras on Season 2 episode of Worst Tenants when it was filming in Pasadena, California.

Frager says he “was asked by Defendants through their agents/employees to fake a fall. Plaintiff is not a trained stunt person. During filming, the star of the show Howard forcefully pushed Plaintiff backwards to trigger the fall and as a result Plaintiff fell down the slope of the mountain on which the filming was taking place breaking his collar-bone, injuring his arm and suffering other injuries to his person including soft-tissue injuries, bruising and lacerations.”

This is the third lawsuit in the last three months involving a reality star allegedly roughing someone up on set. Lifetime’s ‘Dance Moms‘ star Abby Lee Miller is getting sued for assault and defamation from fellow cast member over a brawl.

“the producers of the show [Collins Avenue Entertainment], in an effort to attract ratings and viewership, encourage and facilitate conflicts between Miller on the one hand and the young girl dancers and their mothers on the other.[via]”

On Spike TV’s ‘Bar Rescue‘ a doctor was set up by producers of the show to hit on the show’s host, Jon Taffer’s wife. The doctor was later attacked by the Taffer.

Dr. Paul Wilkes is seeking general, actual and punitive damages as well as medical and legal expenses, pain and suffering and “other and further relief as the Court many deem just and proper”

Reality shows are always accused of being fake, but these several lawsuits do show that there are real consequences for roughing someone up on set.
