Donald Glover reveals what it was like to work on his new TV show, Atlanta.

Donald Glover recently wrapped production for his new FX series Atlanta, in Atlanta, Georgia. Now the part-time rapper and full time actor is revealing what it was like to work on the show and the goals he wished to accomplish while working on the TV series.

Speaking with Vulture, Glover went into detail about on how this show will serve as a platform to help educate people about what it is really like to be Black in America.

“I wanted to show white people, you don’t know everything about black culture… I know it’s very easy to feel that way. Like, I get it, you can hear about the Nae Nae the day it comes out… You follow Hood Vines, and you have your one black friend and you think they teach you everything, I get it that Deshaun said that black people love … n*gga, I hate Deshaun.”

Glover also revealed what it was like pitching the TV series to executives.

An original suggestion from the network was for [Glover’s rapper/drug dealer cousin on the show] Paper Boi to live in a home as run-down and “traplike” as possible. “We were like, ‘No, he’s a drug dealer, he makes enough money to live in a regular apartment,’ ” Glover said. “There were some things so subtle and black that people had no idea what we were talking about.” One actor purposefully delivered his line in a drawl that was nearly indecipherable if you didn’t grow up in Atlanta. “After three takes, Hiro [Murai, director] took me aside and was like, ‘I don’t know what he’s saying.’ To Hiro, this n*gga is speaking patois.” Glover laughed. “That character is an artifact. Culturally, we’re becoming very homogenized. That dude isn’t going to be around in seven years. You aren’t going to be able to find him. White people are moving into Bankhead,” one of the historically blackest neighborhoods in Atlanta. Glover paused. “It’s important that dude gets represented in this show.”

Glover also discussed what it was like to film in Atlanta. He explained how filming in Atlanta was a unique opportunity, as the city is a real representation of how different the black experience can be – something the actor references a lot in his Childish Gambino songs.

It’s important to point out a large majority of the show’s cast members and writing staff were Atlanta natives. In fact, it was everyone’s first writers’ room making it clear Glover wanted to give Atlanta creatives an opportunity to showcase their talents on the big screen.

Atlanta premieres on September 6th.

Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actress in Hollywood.

Katniss Everdeen pulled in an incredible $46 million before taxes over the last 12 months, which makes her the highest paid actress in Hollywood for the second straight year.

Here’s the breakdown, according to Forbes Magazine:

  1. Jennifer Lawrence – $52 million
  2. Melissa McCarthy – $39 million
  3. Scarlett Johansson – $25 million
  4. Jennifer Aniston – $21 million
  5. Fan Bingbing – $17 million

Even though Lawrence is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, . In the essay, Lawrence not only takes issue with the uneven pay scale women in Hollywood deal with but also with the fact that standing up for her self is looked upon differently than a male co-star.

Not only is Lawrence the top-paid Hollywood actress on the Forbes list, she did so as the only one under 30. According to Forbes, their numbers are based on data compiled from Nielsen, Box Office Mojo, and IMDb, as well as interviews with agents, managers, and lawyers.

In case you did not know, Georgia currently offers a film tax credit of 30% on qualified feature films. Several major motion pictures that received the luxurious tax credit include The Hunger Games, and the upcoming Passengers movie; four movies that star Jennifer Lawrence. According to reports,  Jennifer Lawrence earned the top spot because she received an up-front fee for her role in the upcoming Passengers movie. Consequently, Jennifer Lawrence earns the majority of her millions of dollars for feature films she does in the Peach State.

Zika Virus Quickly Moving Towards Atlanta

The Zika Virus is quickly spreading North and headed towards Atlanta, Georgia.

Florida Governor Rick Soctt said Tuesday that a locally transmitted case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in Pinellas County, which includes St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

In addition, Florida has reported four more cases of the Zika Virus, just outside of South Beach. That being said, Pinellas County is over 200 miles away from Miami, where Zika poses such a big threat that the Center for Disease Countrol and Prevention (CDC) to have issued a travel warning to pregnant women. A total of 42 people have been infected with Zika in Florida since the outbreak started.

“Today, we learned that the Florida Department of Health is investigating one new individual with non-travel related Zika in Pinellas County,” Scott said. “While this investigation is ongoing, [the Department of Health] still believes that ongoing active transmissions are only occurring in the two previously identified areas in Wynwood and Miami Beach.”

The non-travel distinction is incredibly important because, as NBC notes, “if a person was infected and has had no contact with a traveler from an affected area, it strongly suggests mosquitoes locally are infected and can spread the virus.”

While, the distance from Clearwater to Atlanta is nearly 500 miles. It does seem to show that the Zika virus is quickly spreading across the United States as the virus traveled 250 miles in less than 30 days.

To add insult to injury, on Tuesday, a CNN report told the story of Micaela, one of the first babies in the United States to be born with Zika-related complications. While her mother, Maria, was repeatedly told by her physician that her Zika infection would not affect the baby’s health, Micaela was born with calcifications in her brain.

Ice Cube Says He’s Working on a New ‘Friday’ Movie

Ice Cube reveals he is working on a new Friday movie.

Because everything that is great in Hollywood has to become a sequel and a reboot, Ice Cube says he’s trying to make another Friday movie.

Ice Cube tweeted out a major announcement on Monday, along with a piece of art depicting the cast of the original gangster comedy in a “Last Supper” situation.

Apparently he’s already talked to New Line Cinema about making Last Friday, but only if he “can do it right.” And for many fans, doing it “right” would mean finding a way to bring Chris Tucker back to the franchise.

In case you do not know, Friday was written by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh and directed by F. Gary Gray in 1995. It became an instant classic and earned $30 million at the box office from a budget of only $3 million.

The movie’s two sequels, Next Friday, which came out in 2000, and the horribly titled Friday After Next, which was released in 2002, didn’t live up to the first movie’s expectations.

In addition, Ice Cube used Twitter to let others know that the supposed Friday remake starring his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. that was going viral on Facebook was actually an internet hoax.

‘The Departed’ TV Series Coming Soon

The Departed TV series based around the Oscar winning movie is currently in development at Amazon.

According to Deadline, the Oscar winning 2006 Martin Scorsese movie is getting a TV series reboot. The hit 2006 movie featured Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg and was a hit in the box office earning $290 million on a $90 million budget.

The new TV series will be written by Detroit 1-8-7 creator Jason Richman, and will be an updated version of the Scorsese movie. The new TV series will be set at present-day Chicago, in the middle of a bitter drug gang war. According to Deadline, “a young cop goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, which simultaneously plants its own man in the police department. The show follows these two embattled moles as they attempt to fulfill their mission and stay alive.”
