Did You Know That A Bunch of Pharrell Songs Start Exactly the Same Way?

It is undeniable that Pharrell is a legendary producer and songwriter but as the mix from the blog Discopop points out, Pharrell likes to start his songs out the same way.

Pharrell Williams has produced numerous hit singles for various recording artists. Williams has earned seven Grammy Awards including two with The Neptunes.

I present to you the “Pharrell Williams Guide to Repetitive Song Intros.”

What you are listening to is Pharrell taking the first beat of the first bar and looping it four times before the song begins abruptly. He does this through a bunch of other songs, including Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like it’s Hot”.

This could be Pharrell’s signature or calling card for his beats, or Pharrell has no imagination on how to start a new song. Eitherway it has worked for several years, as Discopop points out:

It’s not a bad technique – for one thing, you get to the melody quicker, and that is a sure-fire way of making your song memorable and radio friendly.

Singer, Romeo Santos Joins the Cast of ‘Fast & Furious 7’

Latin-American singer, Romeo Santos, joins the cast of Universal’s ‘Fast & Furious 7’.

The Grammy nominated musicians and former lead singer of the hit Bachata group, “Aventura” was recently on stage Thursday night at his sold out Staples Center concert in Los Angeles with Fast & Furious franchise star Vin Diesel.

It is not yet confirmed what Romeo Santos’s role will be in the ‘Fast & Furious 7’. 

Santos and Diesel both have a large social media following with over 2M Twitter followers and 19M Facebook fans. Santos will be joining Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, and the late Paul Walker.

‘Fast & Furious 7’ will hit theaters on April 10, 2015.

Toni Braxton Says God Gave Her Son Autism Because She had an Abortion

Toni Braxton dropped a few hits in her new memoir, but one of the largest bombshells she said is her belief that god gave her 11-year-old son autism because she once had an abortion.

Ton Braxton in her new memoir, Unbreak My Heart, discusses an abortion she had in 2001 and writes that her guilt over her procedure was due to her deeply religious upbringing.

“I was suddenly faced with a choice I’d never thought I’d have to make. Amid my major misgivings about abortion, I eventually made the gut-wrenching decision… In my heart, I believed I had taken a life — an action that I thought God might one day punish me for. … My initial rage was quickly followed by another strong emotion: guilt. I knew I’d taken a life… I believed God’s payback was to give my son autism.”

Toni Braxton later argues and puts the blame on vaccinations, writing “Maybe it’s just a coincidence that after my son’s first MMR vaccine, I began to notice changes in him.”

Braxton would later state in an interview with People Magazine, saying she was punished for having an abortion. But, realized there is nothing wrong with her child. “He just learns differently.”

College Freshman, Outed as Porn Actress, Commits Suicide

College Freshman was outed as a porn actress and later commits suicide.

Nineteen-year-old Alyssa Funke, a freshman at the University of Wisonconsin-Riverfalls, bought a shotgun, and killed herself on April 14th.

Students at her former high school publicly outed her as the star of a “casting couch” porn video, and her parents say the online harassment contributed to her suicide.

According to reports, Alyssa Funke was a straight-A student, and did her first and only porn video for the website CastingCouchX, earlier this year. She used the fake name Stella Ann and talked with the camera man about high school, college, and sports.

After the video premiered, Funke started receiving hateful and nasty Twitter and Facebook messages from her former high school classmates in Minnesota. Many of the messages involved calling her a slut and worse.

Her two final tweets she writes, “Famous for dayzzzzz,” and “Pornstar Status”.

Alyssa Funke’s parents said she suffered from depression, but they believe the harassment is what put her over the edge and played a role in her decision to kill herself.

On a fundraiser page that the parents of Alyssa started, they wrote  “Alyssa like so many other teens was a victim of bully and sadly the bullying lead to her death. Social media has revolutionized the way people bully eachother now days. Now you can say whatever you want and not have to look the person in the face while doing it.”

A sad part of this story is that the fundraising page only received $125 dollars in donations.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the circumstance of Funke’s death.

Facebook Will Start Recording Everything it Hears You Say or Do

In the next few weeks, your iPhone will start recording everything it hears when you start writing a Facebook status update.

The latest version of Facebook for iOS and Android will atomically recognize the song you’re listening to or TV show you’re watching add it to your status. This new “audio recognition” feature starts listening as soon as you start typing a new status. You no longer have to tap “Listening To” or “Watching” in the status-creation screen. If you want to opt in to the feature, you can by clicking a new button inside the status window. When there’s a match, a small smiley face will pop over Facebook‘s feelings button.

The devil is always in the details, and as Gawker pointed out “No elaboration was provided as to how your sound recordings are anonymized and aggregated—there are a lot of ways to deploy those words and have it mean pretty much squat. I asked for clarification on how information you didn’t use—say, your phone starts recording the TV show you’re watching, and you change your mind because you don’t want your friends to see you’re watching USA reruns at noon.”

If you are wondering if you agreed to this in the terms and conditions of Facebook, you are wrong. The Facebook Data Use Policy states nothing about audio data and what they will do with that information.

Facebook currently has 1.28 billion users and growing.

Red Robin May Have Exposed 5,000 People with Hepatitis A

Red Robin Employee with Hepatitis A May Have Exposed 5,000 People.

A Red Robin employee worked at the burger chain for several months with a contagious case of Hepatitis A, and it is estimated he exposed as many as 5,000 people who visited the restaurant in Springfield, Missouri.

Red Robin has not commented where in the restaurant the infected employee worked, but they did say that the person last worked on May 16.

Red Robin advises anyone who ate there between May 8 and May 16 to call the health department for advice.

Hepatitis A can be transmitted through food and water, and symptoms include fever, dark urine, liver failure, and ultimately resulting in death.

All employees at the Springfield Red Robin have been vaccinated for the infection, and the Springfield, Greene County the health department has set up a vaccination clinic.

Red Robin said the employee will not be allowed to return without medical clearance.

“Taken 3” Starring Liam Neeson Casting Call for REAL Police Officers

“Taken 3” starring Liam Neeson is now casting real police officers in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tammy Smith Casting of Atlanta is looking for men and women ages 25 to 55 that are real current or former police officers and are skilled with handling firearms to play police officers.

Actors will not be firing weapons, but need to look authentic as you hold a gun and carry yourself as the real deal.

“Taken,” about a retired CIA agent who rescues his daughter after she is kidnapped while on a trip to Paris, became a surprise hit when it debuted in 2008.

The third movie, also starring Maggie Grace and Forest Whitaker, has employed a cast and crew of about 200 people in Los Angeles, including a large contingent of stunt performers and special effects workers.

Nicholas Sparks’ “The Longest Ride” is holding a casting call for featured roles in the new book turned movie.

Nicholas Sparks, most known for writing The Notebook is turning his latest book into a movie.

Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, “The Longest Ride” centers on two sets of lovers in two intertwining stories. The first story is told through flashbacks of a 90-year-old veteran’s life and the love he has for his departed wife. The second story follows a student who falls in love with a similarly-wounded bull rider.

NCasting is currently casting a ton of roles for the new movie “The Longest Ride“. Filming is set to begin on June 16th and continue for the next couple of months.

Casting directors are looking for real country bands, top bands will be sent over to FOX Entertainment Music this afternoon.

In addition to music groups, casting directors are seeking to cast a featured “boyfriend” role in the movie. Levi’s CEO: ‘Stop Washing Your Jeans and Start Freezing Them’

LEVI’s CEO says stop washing your jeans.

At the recent Fortune “Brainstorm Green” conference the CEO of Levi Strauss & co., Chip Bergh, said some interesting things about your jeans. Essentially telling millions of people to skip washing them.

Bergh talked about companies such as H&M that develop products that are to be discared after a month or so after wearing them. He points out that Levi’s are designed to outlast any other pair of jeans as long as you don’t wash them.

 

He discussed the line of Levi’s line of “waterless jeans” pants that not only use less warter and energy during production, but can also basically never be washed.

He said instead of sending your jeans through the washing mashine just throw them in the freezer overnight to kill any unwanted bacteria.

But, this is not a recent invention from the research and development team over at the Levi’s headquarters. But, something Levi’s has been saying for years.

But, many people say the freezer method is a short term solution and not something that you can do for years.

A Gizmodo article from 2011 debunks the concept.

While some of your jeans’ germs might not survive the freezer, some will, because they’re hardy like that. They mostly come from you, and thrive at body temperature. So when you put on your frozen jeans and your warm body heats up those chilly germs (Cray says it only takes one survivor), they will repopulate and have a microbial party in your pants.

If you don’t like washing them in the freezer try doing in the Ocean.

Child Protective Services is investigating Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith over the controversial photo their daughter Willow posted on Instagram.

According to reports, The Los Angeles Department of Child Protective Services is investigating the Hollywood couples over their daughter’s recent Instagram activity.

The controversial photo shows Willow (13) who is fully clothed, lying next to a shirtless Moises Arias (20), of Hannah Montana.

Will and Jada both publicly stated that they don’t have an issue with the photo, Child Protective Services is committed to investigating for another month. Jada Pinkett Smith previously talked about the picture and accused everyone in the media of acting like a bunch of “pedophiles”.

The investigation started when the department received an anonymous type about the welfare and safety of Willow, based on the contents of the photo.”

According to Radar Online, “Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course, they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand.”

They also plan on questioning Willow and Moises Arias separately.  “Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution.”

Moises Arias, who’s best known for his role on Hannah Montana, later deleted the shot with the “Whip My Hair” singer shortly after posting it.

Is MTV’s ‘Catfish’ Fake? Many people question how real the MTV hit television series really is.

Max Joseph, the Catfish investigator says the show is about “breaking through to people and getting them to see themselves and understand their decisions and their actions (Vulture).”

That is an interesting way to look at a modern day version of “Cheaters” but, regardless as to Max’s vision,  how real are the stories on MTV’s Catfish? 

The typical production process for MTV’s Catfish goes as follows. Someone submits a casting application answering questions such as “Do you have a secret or something to confess to your online partner? Have you made any fake online profiles?”.

Producers pass out waivers to appear on-camera before filming begins.  Max and Nev meet the person who is telling the truth and are brought in to do their investigating. The couples meet and finally MTV provides them with a therapist (just in case something goes wrong)

But, again how real are the stories on Catfish? To answer your question, here are 4 reasons why MTV’s “Catfish” is real.

1. There is a lot of time investigating the two people during the casting process.

A majority of the time the liars are the first ones to get cast. Eisen argues that “it’s not always the case, but it probably happens more than people realize.” It occurred in season two episode “Mike & Kristen” where Kristen asked to meet Mike in person. Producers make sure that the couples are actually lying about their relationships and not playing a prank.

2. Nev and Max are kept in the dark and don’t know a single thing.

Producers get waivers from everyone filmed on camera ahead of time. That being said, producers do not let Nev and Max any information in order to help them track the “Catfish”.

Producers, of course, have mapped out the beginning and ending, but as far as getting from A to Z, Nev and Max do real legwork to connect the deceived with the deceiver.

It also takes Nev and Max a long time to figure everything out. A majority of the time Nev and Max spend a long time trying to figure things out and producers can’t help them.

3. Since more people try to catfish MTV, MTV has stepped their game up.

Since the show became more popular, people are trying harder and harder to fool MTV producers. But, in return producers are working harder to make sure that the relationships are real; something they did not have to do in the first season.

4. MTV sends real therapists to help the people after every episode.

MTV takes pride into what they are doing and want to make sure that it results in a positive experience for both people. That is why they have each person speak with a therapist.

“We want to make sure that a professional is there in case the person needs it,” Eisen said in the interview. “Fortunately we haven’t had any issues after the show has aired, but we need to make sure that people are taken care of if they need to be.”

However, the biggest concern about how real the show is will come down to the fact that producers know what the episode is going to look like before it begins filming. Every episode is not a journey with a camera but, a designed episode in which Nev and Max have no clue as to what’s going on.

Another concern about the legitimacy of Catfish is that production requires waivers to be signed before filming. By giving people the chance to sign a waiver you are allowing them to think what they are going to do, how they are going to react, and what they are going to say.

Regardless of those two issues, Catfish is an entertaining and real life look at online dating.

HBO “Blue Goose Hollow” Starring Queen Latifah Casting Call in Atlanta

HBO’s new movie “Blue Goose Hollow” starring Queen Latifah is holding a casting call in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Blue Goose Hollow” will center around Bettie Smith’s life and music. Smith was one of the biggest blues singers in the 1920′s and 1930′s. Her nickname was ‘The Empress of The Blues’. Her career took a hit during the Great Depression, and as she was trying to make a comeback, she lost her life due to a major car accident.

The movie will be directed and written by Dee Rees, the director of the Pariah. Latifah will star as Smith, and her production company Flavor Unit will produce alongside the Zanuck Company, Shelby Stone Productions, and HBO.

Marinella Hume Casting is currently seeking extras for a speakeasy scene and a bedroom scene. More roles will become available as filming ramps up.

The Starz Network has teamed up with LeBron James for a new television series.

Survivors Remorse is set in the world of professional basketball and explores the comedy and drama of an experience that everyone reads about, but few understand — what truly happens when you make it out. Starz has ordered six episodes of the series.
