Emilia Clarke reveals never-before-seen photographs of her shortly after she suffered a life-threatening brain aneurysm in 2011.
The photos of the Game of Thrones actress looking weak in a hospital bed showing the impact the life-threatening incident had on the then 24-year-old.
During an interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Emilia, now 32, shared the photos and opened up about how she fell into a dark place following her recovery.
Looking back at how it affected her psychologically, the actress, who plays Daenerys I Targaryen in the hit HBO show, said: “The first time it was difficult, with the second one I found it much harder to stay optimistic.
“[I coped with it as a] a day to day thing. I definitely went through a period of being… down – putting it mildly.”
Two years later, in 2013, Emilia suffered a second aneurysm, which she said almost killed her.
“The second one, there was a bit of my brain that actually died,” she revealed. “If a part of your brain doesn’t get blood to it for a minute, it will just no longer work. It’s like you short circuit. So, I had that.
“So, they [the doctors] literally were looking at the brain and being like, ‘Well, we think it could be – could be her concentration, it could be her peripheral vision’.”
Emilia joked, “I always say it’s my taste in men. For a very long time, I thought it was my ability to act…that was a deep paranoia.”
Amazingly, she returned to the set and has been an ever-present of Game of Thrones, now in its eighth season. In fact, Emilia said it was the pressure of having to play such a ‘badass; character, that ultimately saved her life – she simply had ‘no time to question her mortality’.
“You go on the set,” she says, “and you play a badass character, and you walk through fire, and you speak to hundreds of people, and you’re being asked to be – to work as hard as you possibly can.
“And that became the thing that just saved me from considering my own mortality, yeah.”
Emilia will return to television screens later this month as the final season of GOT kicks off on April 15th.
Marvel Studios to receive $18 million to film a mystery movie in Australia.
The Australian government has agreed to give Marvel Studios a $17.1 million subsidy in agreement for the studio to film an unnamed Marvel Cinematic Universe film there. According to Variety, Marvel will be eligible to additional government funds, which could be as high as $20.9 million, for a total of $38 million.
“Securing this latest production will bring over A$150 million (US$107 million) of new international investment, create 4,700 new Australian jobs and use the services of around 1,200 local businesses,” said Australia’s Federal Minister for Communications and the Arts, Mitch Fifield.
Both the government and the studio would not disclose the film, simply described “a major new Marvel Studios movie” and “a big-budget superhero film.”
The are four announced Marvel Studios coming soon including Black Widow, The Eternals, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Shang-Chi and sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange has also been reported.
“Marvel Studios thanks the Australian and NSW Governments and is thrilled to be returning to Australia to work with the talented and highly skilled Australian crew, stunt performers and actors together with the thousands of small businesses across Australia that supply world-class equipment, goods, facilities and services to large budget productions” said David Grant, VP of Marvel Studios.
That said, the last Marvel film to shoot in Australia was 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok”, which also received subsidies from the federal government.

A new “Walking Dead” series is set to film in Virginia this summer.
Virginia Governor Ralph S. Northam’s office announced in a press release on April 8th that the third series in AMC’s “The Walking Dead” franchise would film their first season in Virginia. The show will center around the popular AMC program “The Walking Dead,” which is set to begin production on their 10th season in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.
Production of the ten episode series will start in Central Virginia this summer. The show will be the second AMC series to film in Virginia, following the Revolutionary War spy drama “TURN: Washington’s Spies,” which shot four seasons in Virginia from 2013 to 2017.
The show will center around two young female heroes and focus on the start of the zombie apocalypse.

“The film production industry is a fast-growing sector of the Virginia economy with an annual total economic impact of almost $862 million in 2017,” said Brian Ball, Secretary of Commerce and Trade. “During their time here, AMC’s turned a total economic impact of over $217 million in the Commonwealth, and this series marks the next chapter in a beneficial partnership between AMC and Virginia.”

As home to the latest installment, Virginia will have access to this built-in, passionate audience and a tremendous film tourism opportunity. The Walking Dead’s original filming location, rural Senoia, Georgia, saw explosive economic growth thanks to thousands of tourists per year visiting to get a glimpse of filming sites. With Virginia already a wonderful place to visit and vacation, we are in the ultimate position to capitalize on this lucrative added tourism draw.”
As a result of filming in Virginia, the third “Walking Dead” series will receive a Virginia film tax credit. The exact amount will be based on the total number of Virginia workers hired, goods and services purchased, and deliverables including Virginia tourism promotions.
