Slipknot Music Video Open Casting Call

Slipknot Music Video Open Casting Call

Slipknot has posted a casting call for an upcoming new music video.

According to reports, there is speculation that the band is planning to tour or re-release their debut album to celebrate its upcoming anniversary.

Slipknot sent out a message with the subject “Slipknot 20th Anniversary” – presumably linking ahead to the upcoming milestone of the band’s seminal 1999 self-titled album.

To participate, fans are asked to e-mail their name and age to [email protected]. If you’re under 18, identification and signed a consent from a parent or guardian is required.

This news comes after the band recently announced they will also be re-releasing “All Hope is Gone” to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Slipknot is reportedly working on their upcoming sixth album, which is due for release next year.

FX’s ‘Mayans M.C.’ Star Richard Cabral Started Off as Background Actor

How Richard Cabral went from extra work to star in FX’s Mayans M.C.

Central Casting has seen a number of background actors rise in Hollywood and become A-list stars. One of the actors who worked with Central Casting as an extra is Mayans M.C. star Richard Cabral. In a recent blog post, Central Casting revealed how Cabral got his start in Hollywood and how his humble beginnings led to a major role on a hit TV show.

Richard Cabral is from East Los Angeles and spent his formative years around goings and in jail. While in jail, he earned his GED and started to appreciate poetry and rap. Then, according to the LA Times, at 20 years Cabral faced a 35-year sentence for violent assault.

“Going through that experience was tormenting,” Cabral told the Times. “There are so many people in Los Angeles fighting life [sentences]. And we’re all young: 18, 19, 20. I just knew I couldn’t do this no more. I knew I needed a change.”

Cabral was given a 5-year sentenced and was released from prison when he was 25-years-old. After a friend’s referral he joined Homeboy industries, a group to help at risk youth and gang members find a new career path.

While working at Homeboy industries, Cabral worked many different jobs. Then Central Casting reached out to Homeboy Industries to cast Background Actors for CSI: Miami and Cabral started working on set of the show.

“I remember my first thing was CSI: Miami,” he told NPR. “I played a Cuban gangster. And that was it. I was like: Wow, I don’t have to clean toilets. I could actually dress up and get paid equivalent to that. So that was my introduction into the Hollywood industry.”

The role led to many other background acting jobs on The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, The Green Hornet, and Sons of Anarchy. His first speaking role was on Southland, but his breakout role was on the first season of American Crime, a role which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2015.

Now Cabral is featured as Johnny ‘Coco’ Cruiz in the Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans M.C., which is also cast by Central Casting.

“I didn’t know that I could be an actor until I was 25 years old, and now I continue to go back to the prisons and probation camps and the inner city to say that you don’t have to go through the violence, through the trauma like I did,” Cabral told The Wrap. “Art saved my life.”

The Universal Global Talent Development & Inclusion has launched a program for aspiring and experienced screenwriters with different points of view.  The one-year paid program helps writers create material for development consideration. From the first pitch to the final draft, writers are given creative mentoring from executives, producers, and creative consultants.

The Universal Writers Program identifies up-and-coming and experienced screenwriters with unique points of view that build upon the Studio’s commitment to telling stories and creating films that reflect the vast diversity of our audiences. The only feature film program sanctioned by the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW), the Program develops storytellers who organically incorporate multicultural and global perspectives in screenwriting.

The one-year paid program engages writers to create material for development consideration; however, concept development is not guaranteed. From pitch to final draft, writers are afforded creative guidance from executives, producers and designated creative consultants. In addition to penning two (2) feature-length scripts, writers participate in a curriculum designed to strengthen their creative and professional development, as well as overall knowledge of the Studio production process from pitch to premiere. The Program also provides access to agents, managers and various industry professionals through meetings and/or events.

Writers who are selected will be hired under a writing service agreement requiring a full-time commitment of a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Doctor Sleep is based on the 2013 horror novel by Stephen King and is the sequel to his 1977 novel The Shining. King stated that it is a “return to balls-to-the-wall, keep-the-lights-on horror”. The book became a number one New York Times bestseller for print and ebook fiction, hardcover fiction, and ebook fiction. The novel also won the 2013 Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel.

The book centers around the events after The Shining. Danny Torrance remains psychologically traumatized as his mother Wendy slowly recovers from her injuries. Ghosts from the Overlook still want to find Danny and take his “shining” power. Dick Hallorann, the Overlook’s chef teaches Danny to create lockboxes in his mind to control the ghosts including the former Overlook owner Horace Derwent. The psychological trauma causes Dan to deal with anger and alcoholism. Dan spends years of his life drifting across the country until he decides to give up drinking. As a result, he develops psychic abilities that allow him to predict when someone is about to die, giving him the nickname “Doctor Sleep”.
