The Atlantic recently interviewed Kel Mitchell from the popular series ‘ Kenan and Kel’ on Nickelodeon. Apparently in 2006, a rumor circulated that Kel Mitchell died. It ended up not being true. But since, 2000 not too many people have heard much from the lovable actor and character that once entertained millions.
Since, the rumor started in 2006 Mitchell is alive and well. Atlantic, writer Gideon Resnick interviewed him recently to discuss his career since 2000 and the hit series ‘Kenan and Kel’
When Kenan & Kel ended in 2000, Mitchell explains, “I was currently shooting films and guest starring on television. The plan was to continue doing that.”
But when Mitchell and Thompson both tried out for Saturday Night Live in 2003, the latter won the coveted position. In the decade since, Mitchell told me, he has kept himself busy writing for, acting in, and directing the occasional film (Mitchell directed 2012’s She Is Not My Sister, a film about dealing with bullying through faith, and he takes the film around to schools and churches throughout the country) while focusing on his Christianity and raising a family.
So basically, Kel has been working on his acting career. But, it looks as thought it has not taken off since 2000. Both Kenan and Kel auditioned to be on Saturday Night Live, but the job opportunity was given to his co-star Kenan.
“It’s one of those things where I don’t get upset about it,” Mitchell said of the persistent attention from Kenan & Kel fans. “You have actors that get upset about their past projects being brought up. But I have to realize that [Kenan & Kel] was a staple for a lot of people. … Even though Will Smith has done I Am Legend and all these other great films, [and has] been nominated for many awards, you still love him for Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
It looks as though Kel now centers his life around his family and building an acting career in Los Angeles. The skits and catch phrases still seem to a part of his life and it is something he cherishes. We hope to see more of Kel Mitchel in the future!

“Duck Dynasty” Star Phil Robertson has been put on an indefinte hiatus from filming the hit series on A&E after comments about gay people he made in an interview with GQ magazine.
In an statement by A&E Networks they commented on their disappointment in Phil Roberton’s comments
“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series ‘Duck Dynasty.’ His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The networks has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
The interview which appears in the January issue of GQ, Robertson refers to gay people as “homosexual offenders” whou would not “inherit the Kingdom of God.” Furthermore, he also said a woman’s vagina was “more desirable” than a man’s anus.”
“But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man,” he told the publication. “It’s just not logical.”
The “Duck Dynasty” star also released an apology “I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”
A rep for A&E acknowledged that Robertson would be appearing in some episodes of the fifth season of the show that had already completed prior to his suspension. The new season premieres on A&E on January 15.
What do you think of his comments? Did he go too far? The internet has exploded in response with a series of ‘I support Phil’ photos.

Many people call Acting ‘The Great Escape’
Many actors have chosen Acting as a profession as a way to escape the normal day to day job opportunities a majority of people have.
James Franco says in his book Actors Anonymous: “Anyone that is driven to play dress-up for a living is trying to hide something either from himself or from others.” Understand that the average employment rate for actors is 10%. That means for a room of a hundred actors 90 of those actors are out of work. Thus, it is an actor’s job to be honest and knowledgeable about Acting. Actors cannot become believe and pretend to live in fantasies. Instead, actors should serve as a realistic mirror. A true actor must know his or her flaws, and their key strengths. Furthermore, a great actor must constantly explore the human experience.
How can an actor portray a character honestly, if someone is not honest with themselves?
The purpose of acting is not to play dress-up but to tell a story and to entertain an audience with that story.
A true actor will tap into their acting toolbox and tell a story that will not only entertain but allow for the audience to “escape” with you and your character!
