The producers for ‘The Empire’ Starring Terrence Howard are now seeking talent to work on the FOX television pilot.

John Singleton, the director of Boyz N the Hood asserted in an interview released on Monday that “so-called liberals in Hollywood” are not “letting black people tell the stories.”
In an interview that crossed a wide array of topics led by , The Hollywood Reporter’s Stephen Galloway, Singleton commented that this generation of Hollywood “are not as good as their parents or ancestors” were. “They feel they’re not racist,” he said. “They’re not racist, they grew up with Hip Hop so [they] can’t be racist.”
Singleton also criticized black film executives for being scared. “You’ve got a lot of black executives at the studio who are afraid to give their opinion about what black culture is,” he said. “And [filmmakers] don’t know there’s a whole lot of black people who work in studios that don’t need to be there because they won’t—if I give them the best thing possible, they’re scared to give it to somebody.”
Singleton also commented on Stephanie Allain, the executive producer who fought to get Boyz N the Hood produced, “Stephanie Allain kicked and screamed to get Boyz n the Hood made. Those people don’t exist anymore, whether or not they’re black, white, or whatever. So we’re not going there. What doesn’t exist is financial infrastructure for people, and not necessarily black, but just people of different visions, to be able to do different types of work.”
But, on a lighter note, Singleton did comment that outside of Hollywood there are more people producing new and untraditional productions. “You’re going to get different types of stories made. A good example of a person who happens not to be black, Benh Zeitlin who did Beasts of the Southern Wild, that would never have been made if it hadn’t been made in that model. That could never have been made in the studio. 12 Years a Slave could never have been made in the studio model.”
Singleton recalled a point in time when he had when writing Boyz N the Hood: “I learned that no one was going to write the films I wanted to do except for me. No one was going to have the vision to tell the stories that I wanted to tell except for me.”
“You’re seeing dreams die right before you,” he said of the film’s final moments. “It adds to the pathos of the scene, you’re seeing dreams die right before you. The authenticity of it comes from, I’m directing this and I’m doing it from the heart. These are stories that I’ve seen and that I’ve heard of in my environment. I’m following the axiom of ‘dramatize what you know.’”
John Singleton commented that black filmmakers at major studios are not producing the same type of productions any because studio executives will not let them.
“The black films now—so-called black films now—they’re great. They’re great films. But they’re just product.”
Unlike Boyz N the Hood, “they’re not moving the bar forward creatively or anything you want. It’s not that you have to say something or you have to make an important movie. We’re in the entertainment business. We’re in the business where you’ve got to get as many butts in the seats and get people excited on Friday, Saturday, and even come out Sunday to see the picture. And even after that, they got to want to buy it, they got to want to order it, push a button and get it.”
“When you try to make it homogenized, when you try to make it appeal to everybody, then you don’t have anything that’s special,” he said. “Boyz N the Hood wasn’t made for everybody. It was made for like a young black audience that buys Hip Hop records.”

In the “Wolf of Wall Street” Martin Scorsese depicted jail full of tennis courts, and relaxation. But, did you know that comedians were added to the luxury of Jordan Belfort’s (Lenoardo DiCaprio) stay in prison.
Jordan Belfort who wrote the memoir on which the movie was based, who, after being imprisoned for securities fraud and money laundering in 2003, ended serving 22 months in Taft, California. While he was there he was cellmates with Tommy Chong, who was doing nine months.
Tommy Chong told the story during a Howard Stern interview in 2004:
CHONG: I got a million jail stories for ya, man. Jordan Belfort – do you know Jordan? Remember the movie Boiler Room? The hotshot stock guy? Him. He was my cell mate.
STERN: What was he in jail for?
CHONG: For, uh, you know… financial things, you know. He had to pay back – they give you a sum of money that you have to pay the government back, his payback was higher than anybody’s has ever been. $100 million.
STERN: Wow.
ROBIN QUIVERS: And does he have it?
CHONG. Yeah. It was like, ‘what do you want, Mastercard? Visa?’ Anyway, he’s a little guy, he’s from New York. Great guy. He’s a genius. Young guy, about 42. We had the best time, man. He’s writing a book, so I’d help him write a book. And he’d tell me the best stories, man. It was an education, Howard. You couldn’t buy an education like I got.
STERN: So you had a good time.
CHONG: I had a wonderful time.

Third Wolverine Solo Film Sets Writer, Hugh Jackman Expected Back
reports that FOX has hired writer David James Kelly to write the next installment in the Wolverine solo film series. He was the writer of the FOX’s failed reboot of Daredevil before those rights were taken back by Marvel.
But, it is expected that Hugh Jackman will take back his role in the upcoming Wolverine 3 feature film. It is also expected that the 2013 director of “The Wolverine”, will also return to take up and helm the new sequel of Wolverine 3.
Wolverine 3 is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.

The incredible hard working and industry veteran James Rebhorn has passed away on Friday after battling skin cancer.
James Rebhorn who played the father of Claire Danes’ in the hit TV series ‘Homeland’ has died. He passed away on Friday. He was 65.
“He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992,” his agent told The Hollywood Reporter. “He fought it all this time. He died Friday afternoon at his home in New Jersey, where he had been receiving hospice care for a week and a half.”
James Rebhorn also had a recurring role on the hit USA Network series White Collar as he played Special Agent Reese Hughes, head of the FBI’s Manhattan white-collar crime unit.
James Rebhorn has been working in the industry for over fifty years and has a resume working on Seinfeld, My Cousin Vinny, Basic Instinct, Reel Steel, Far From Heaven, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Practice, Boston Legal, Third Watch, The Book of Daniel, Law & Order, Big Lake and Independence Day as well as a ton of other productions.
Rebhorn is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and daughters Hanna and Emma.

The Boondocks is back and scheduled to return to Adult Swim on April 21st for a fourth and final season after a four year hiatus, but without the creator Aaron McGruder.
It is reported from The LA Times that Aaron McGruder will not be involved in the production.
A press release from Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, noted that the new season “was produced without the involvement of Aaron McGruder, when a mutually agreeable production schedule could not be determined…
“The announcement comes as a surprise: Since launching the strip in 1999, McGruder, who is developing a live-action comedy “Black Jesus” for Adult Swim, has been extremely protective of the property and the Boondocks characters.
But, how will this affect the creative voice of the television series? Aaron McGruder took to Facebook yesterday to report that his “Boondocks” Facebook page had been hijacked. Now it appears that his show was hijacked as well.
Luckily for McGruder, Adult Swim did not leave him empty handed. As a consolation prize he was given a new television series titled, “Black Jesus” based on the 2008 viral hit. The production has started casting earlier this month with several casting calls in Los Angeles.
It will be interesting to see how this all pans out for McGruder, Boondocks and Adult Swim. Will the creativity still be there?

Paradym Group is looking for experienced models for a multi-language trade show event for an upcoming convention. Producers are looking for models that can speaking several languages fluently.
Models that are selected will be compensated $300 per day.

**ORLANDO TRADE SHOW MODELS**
We are looking for 4 Experienced Multi Language Trade Show Models for an upcoming Convention. This convention is a global convention and are looking for models that can speak several languages fluently.
Event Location: Orange County Convention Center – Orlando
Dates: April 28th to May 1st – Must be able to work all 4 days!
Rate: $300 per day plus Parking
Hours:
April 28 – 9:30am-5pm
April 29 – 9:30am-5pm
April 30 – 9:30am-5pm
May 1 – 9:30am – 4pm
Talent Description – Diverse nationality, ability to speak several languages. (Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, English, German, Russian, French, Italian). – Male or female – Outgoing and friendly personality – Professional appearance – Ability to take direction – Punctual
Job Duties Professionally and enthusiastically approach multi-national trade show attendees to take a brief survey (using an iPad) to gauge customer satisfaction. Field general questions from attendees and direct them to the appropriate area of the booth or corporate personnel.
