Sylvester Stallone‘s MGM thriller ‘Samaritan‘ to film in Atlanta, Georgia.
The new movie is headed to theaters on December 11, 2020, and production is now filming in Georgia.
‘Samaritan’ will be directed by Julius Avery (Overlord), which is Stallone’s next movie following ‘Rambo: Last Blood’. ‘Samaritan’ center around a young boy who is out to discover is a mythical superhero actually exists after disappearing 20 years ago following a tragic event. Written by ‘Escape Room’ screenwriter Bragi F. Schut, the movie will be produced by Stallone’s Balboa Productions and Schut will executive produce the project.
Stallone’s last movie
Stallone’s last movie ‘Rambo: Last Blood’ was a sequel to the 2008 ‘Rambo’ movie. The movie stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim, JoaquÃn CosÃo, and Oscar Jaenada. The movie centers around the eponymous Vietnam War veteran (reprised by Stallone) as he moves to Mexico to save his adopted daughter, who has been kidnapped by a Mexican cartel and forced into prostitution.
The movie released in September 2019 to negative reviews with critics lambasting the movie as xenophobic towards Mexicans. That said, the movie made over $87 million worldwide on a budget of $50 million.
Filming in Atlanta
Sylvester Stallone’s next project will join several other major feature films and TV shows now filming in Georgia. Other projects include Netflix’s major feature film ‘Red Notice‘, which features Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, several Tyler Perry productions, and ‘Stranger Things’.
