Job Responsibilities:

  1. [SABINA] (Lead Role):
    • Female, 27-40 years old, all ethnicities.
    • Must blend wit, vulnerability, and sharp humor.
    • Portray a quirky girlfriend evolving into an amateur detective, balancing paranoia and tender love.
  2. [ASHER] (Lead Role):
    • Male, 27-40 years old, all ethnicities.
    • Must have comedic timing, charm, and relatability.
    • Portray a lovable optimist devoted to Sabina, balancing her chaos while navigating his own limits.
  3. [DORRIS] (Supporting Role):
    • Female, 57-70 years old, all ethnicities.
    • Must bring whimsical charm and comedic lightness to a wise, eccentric neighbor character.

Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from Montreal, QC.
  • Non-union roles.
  • Talent must be prepared with their own wardrobe, makeup, and hair on shoot day.
  • Audition via self-tape.

Compensation Details:

Casting is now open for the lead role of Maya in the upcoming UBCP/ACTRA ULB comedy short DEADBEATS, filming in Vancouver. Maya is a sharp, dry-witted DJ holding her life together while everything around her spirals into chaos. This proof-of-concept short will pitch a fully developed feature film and will be used for studio meetings with script and pitch deck in hand. Ideal talent will bring a mix of grounded humor and subtle vulnerability, with strong comedic instincts and natural charm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portray Maya, the lead character in a narrative-driven comedy short

  • Deliver dry humor with nuance and strong comedic timing

  • Perform in multiple scenes across a three-day shoot

  • Engage in light dance choreography as part of the character’s performance
