Job Description
An independent, non-union psychological thriller and drama short film is casting multiple roles for an upcoming production in Toronto. The story follows Zofia, a Polish-Canadian woman visiting her grandparents. During an ordinary summer day, interactions with her family gradually expose the pressures surrounding her unmarried life while an uncanny presence that has long haunted the house begins drawing closer. As reality and Slavic folklore start to blur, Zofia is confronted by an unsettling spirit in the garden.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray one of the lead or supporting characters in the psychological thriller.
- Perform character-driven scenes involving family tension, cultural themes, and supernatural elements.
- Deliver natural and emotionally grounded performances appropriate to the role.
- Perform Polish-language material where required.
- Perform simulated smoking where specifically required by the character.
Requirements
- Zofia: Female, 30s, Caucasian; lead role.
- Babcia: Female, 70+, Eastern European; supporting lead; must be fluent in Polish and comfortable performing simulated smoking.
- Dziadek: Male, 70+, Eastern European; supporting role; must be fluent in Polish and comfortable performing simulated smoking.
- Lala: Female, 50–70+, open to all ethnicities; supporting role; must be fluent in Polish and comfortable performing simulated smoking.
- Jenn: Female, 30s, BIPOC; supporting role.
- Must be comfortable working with dramatic and psychological thriller material.
- Non-union production.
