WAITRESS THE MUSICAL
BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME and
WOLVERHAMPTON GRAND
CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS
WEDNESDAY 13TH APRIL in BIRMINGHAM
Tony Award-nominated hit musical Waitress, which opened on Broadway on April 24, 2016, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and opened in London’s West End at The Adelphi Theatre in early 2019 to rave reviews. Following its successful run on Broadway, the show brought its all-female creative team to the UK — a West End musical first — when performances began at the Adelphi Theatre in February 2019. The production is now touring the UK and Ireland. Based on the 2007 motion picture by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress has a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by six-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, and choreography by Lorin Latarro, and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus. Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This American musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
CASTING BREAKDOWN
We are only looking for the following children’s roles:
LULU
The young daughter of the lead character, Jenna, is to play 4-5 years old. A sweet, carefree child appears in the last scene of the show. Should be confident and be able to engage in a small amount of dialogue and movement on stage and be happy to be lifted on stage by one of the adult actors.
This is a small but important role in the musical. The production will be hiring two local girls to play the role of Lulu for the engagement in each venue.
PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT TO GIRLS WHO ARE 6 YEARS OLD OR YOUNGER. They must be under 4ft tall.
The role will be shared by two children in each venue. Please ONLY suggest children for either BIRMINGHAM or WOLVERHAMPTON at this time.
