Seeking late-deafened, d/Deaf or HoH artist for LEAD role.

RESURRECTION BAY
1 Hr. Episodic
Straight to series / Seven Episodes
Network: ABC Australia

Production Company: Jungle Entertainment

SAG-AFTRA

Shoot Dates: June – September 2023

Shoot Location: Sydney & South Coast, Australia

[CALEB ZELIC]

  • Male,
  • 35-50 years (Lead Role) has been profoundly d/Deaf for most of his adult life.
  • He was born as a hearing person and lost his hearing later in life.
  • Most people would not know that he is d/Deaf.
  • His observational skills are exceptional. They are his superpower. People who listen closely may think he has an accent but can’t identify what it is. He works as a private investigator specializing in fraud, but the most important thing to know about Caleb isn’t that he’s deaf and hates people knowing he’s deaf. He had a tough childhood, so it’s hard for him to trust; Caleb is tenacious and stubborn, but he’s also brilliantly astute – with a sixth sense for when people are lying.

Producers are open to actors and non-actors; the priority is casting someone who identifies as late-deafened, d/Deaf or HoH.  The actor must also be able to communicate fully in English. Knowledge of ASL, BLS, Auslan or equivalent is needed.
