Casting Call: Cast Members for HADESTOWN Tour (Non-Union)
Job Details: Spring Will Come Again, LLC is seeking talented actors for the non-union tour of HADESTOWN, the mythic musical. Directed by Keenan Tyler Oliphant with original direction and new tour concept by Rachel Chavkin, and choreography by David Neumann, this tour promises to be an engaging and inventive reimagining of the acclaimed show. Musical supervision is by Liam Robinson with book, music, and lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell. Casting is managed by Benton Whitley, CSA and Micah Johnson-Lew of Whitley Theatrical.
This production is seeking virtual submissions for various roles with rehearsals starting September 3, 2024, in New York City, and the first performance scheduled for October 3, 2024, in Waterbury CT.
Job Responsibilities:
- Portray the assigned character with authenticity and adherence to the director’s vision.
- Attend all rehearsals and performances as scheduled.
- Maintain a high standard of performance and professionalism.
- Collaborate with cast and crew to ensure a cohesive production.
- Must be willing to travel and perform in various locations as part of the tour.
Requirements:
- Singing and acting capabilities appropriate to the role.
- Roles require various specific musical instrument proficiencies (e.g., guitar for ORPHEUS, violin for [FATE 1, EURYDICE U/S], etc.).
- Open to any ethnicity, age considerations as noted for specific roles.
- Non-union actors only.
Compensation:
- Principals: $850/week minimum + applicable extras.
- Ensemble: $750/week minimum + applicable extras.
- Benefits include Health Plan offered and Transportation/Housing/Per Diem provided from tech rehearsals onwards.

The play is music and movement-based, creating a powerful ensemble-driven experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray Jomo Kenyatta, a 54-year-old Kenyan anti-colonial activist and political leader
- Deliver an authentic and compelling performance reflecting the wisdom and leadership qualities of Kenyatta
- Collaborate with the ensemble cast in a movement and music-based production
- Participate in rehearsals and production meetings as required
Requirements
- Male actor of Kenyan or East African heritage, aged 45-57
- Must confidently deliver a Kenyan accent
- Strong stage presence with the ability to embody the character’s charisma and wisdom
- Prior theatre experience preferred but not required
- Available for production dates: 26 July – 26 August 2025
